Yah. It’s back. S2 !!!

whoop

starts mon 15th and on weekly

i really enjoyed s1

The new trailer ( gives a fresh look at the show's returning characters, including new PSNI recruits Grace (Siân Brooke), Annie (Katherine Devlin) and Tommy (Nathan Braniff), alongside Stevie (Martin McCann), Helen (Joanne Crawford) and Sandra (Andi Osho).

Fans also get a glimpse of new characters for season two, including new Constable Shane (Frank Blake) and siblings Lee (Seamus O'Hara) and Mags (Seána Kerslake).

The new episodes will follow Grace, Annie and Tommy a year after the events of the last season, with the officers faced with a gangland feud that culminates in a "violent and devastating confrontation".
"Tensions are high," Helen says in the trailer. "We're policing an area that could explode at a
ny minute, and we're flying completely blind."

s1 is on iPlayer if haven’t seen and def need to watch it before s2

Well of course it's blue - the series is called Blue Lights! TBH I'm finding the constant blue 'haze' a bit irritating. And the effect it has on some of the actors' eyes is very unnerving.

I’ve just finished watching series one and two, one right after the other, and won’t breath a word about the last episode until you’ve all seen it.
But safe to say the given me a lot more knowledge of the ongoing issues in Belfast for both the residents and the police.

In a few rough areas.

Belfast is a fantastic city these days.

Papergirl1968 · 15/05/2024 23:02

Oh yeah, and the colours were seriously weird. Although unlike the PP upthread who could see blue, everything looked green tinted to me.
The black police uniforms looked more like dark green paramedic uniforms.
Most odd. And very distracting.

PSNI uniforms are green.

Aw thank you think I am way behind. I do want to know if these two actors are related though?

Is that June Ackland from The Bill on the left?

OneFrenchEgg · 16/05/2024 06:45

@SevenSeasOfRhye yes, the two of them look so similar

SevenSeasOfRhye · 16/05/2024 06:52

I can't find anything online that suggests Trudie Goodwin and Joanne Crawford are related - Joanne is apparently Irish whereas Trudie is from London. I agree they have a similarity, and the characters they play aren't dissimilar, though I don't think June Ackland progressed further than being a sergeant in The Bill.

OneFrenchEgg · 16/05/2024 07:15

Thank you for looking, I just thought initially I'd got their age wrong and it was the same actress!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2024 08:23

As I said I did t even notice the blue till someone said

Now I do notice

Once you see it, you can't not see it!

Papergirl1968 · 16/05/2024 09:16

Oh, they are green! Thanks @ClaudiaWinklepanda
I didn’t notice it in the first series.
I have been to Dublin a couple of times and would like to go to Belfast too, @shearwater2 I’ve heard from a few people what a nice city it is.

Arconialiving · 16/05/2024 11:11

Belfast is a phenomenal city & whilst some areas are very rough, the majority is amazing and the people (even the rough ones!) are friendly! Great scenery, great restaurants, fantastic bars & The Titanic Museum is truly world class!

[I'm from an area not too dissimilar to where Lee is in Belfast although moved to England 20 years ago, but do go home very regularly]

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/05/2024 17:52

Blue lights e6

Awwww so Steve and Grace are ok / said they would be

And had a kiss

Least we know Shane didn’t post the pic on the group but he did send it to one more person Then should of

Well done who called that and noticed the wats app group chat

The riot was scary and what is worse it probably happens a lot in real life

I don’t think I would want to police Ireland tbh

Poor rab. Esp after he changed so much

Stevie reminds me of bodie in fire country if anyone watches then. Always to the rescue and ignoring orders

Robin aka Charlie still annoys me and don’t resit understand the Happy stiory but glad £80k helped others

So lee wasn’t a goodie after all / but his friend mackensize took the blame over the Dixon killing

That’s loyalty lol

Apart from the petrol bomb but

Confused over the pub bit at the end so they all turned on lee ?

Canning was dodgy. Well done who called they originally

Yah. Glad Sandra didn’t resign and forgive as well

All tied up nicely and all dancing at the end

And Grace follows Stevie. Corny but awwwwwww

Let’s hope be a s 3 soon

I loved it!

@Blondeshavemorefun The Charlie story is very poignant and truly reminiscent of what did happen during the Troubles so it nicely rounded out the Jen & Happy storylines and gave both some closure / peace. Loved it & cried buckets when Happy shook his hand & offered forgiveness.

agree - as I was watching that scene it made me think about some of the real life examples I heard about on the radio recently. I also listened to Colin Murray talk about life in NI and it’s clear to see the pain still. Blue Lights did such a good job with that storyline.

LadyEloise1 · 21/05/2024 08:45

A really good series.
Well done to all involved.
Super acting and writing.
Though tbh, I doubt we'd get so many happy endings in real life.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/05/2024 08:52

@Arconialiving so was based on true life events to a certain degree
