Couldn't see a new thread.

I have no idea who they are apart from the fella from League of Gentleman.

What do the others do?

Ed Gamble mentions him quite a lot on the podcast and seems to know him well and like him. He says he gets very frustrated and is self-critical. Doesn't seem to be a very happy person. Total opposite to Nick.

The frustration is clear to see. It must be hard. My 19yo and I are both ND, and both have a lot of his traits. I have no idea if John is ND or not, but his anxiety/frustration is similar

Ed Gamble likes Lou Sanders as well. I think Ed’s just a friendly chap. There are people who want to win, but John and Mae Martin just seemed to be desperate. Ed and Rose admitted they were very competitive but at least looked as though they were enjoying themselves.
i loved Steve holding Nick’s hand last week. 😂

I'm enjoying the little scenes where Nick in task costume has no reflection 🧛

murasaki · 27/04/2024 00:06

I'm disliking John a lot. Sarah Pascoe had a lucky escape there. she seems lovely and funny, him, he needs a fuck ton more therapy.

I missed that. I'll be looking out for it. I'd never heard of Nick before but he seems really nice.

I might have missed something, but I'm sure the camp beds' legs extended. I'm not sure how that would have helped, mind.

I love Steve. I only knew Nick from a Miranda scene he was in years ago. John is complex. He definitely seems a person with inner turmoil. PP could be right about possible ND. My Audar definitely picked up some familiar traits (I'm Autistic)

I've just read that Lucy Beaumont and Jon Richardson are divorcing. (Somewhat unrelated, but she was on the last series)

My DH and DS went to see it being filmed in December so hopefully it will be aired in the next few months!

SoupDragon · 27/04/2024 09:32

I'm not getting any of these things from John. I do think he wants to win but I think he"s enjoying himself. He just isn't one of those overtly "mad" people, he is more restrained. That's the impression I get. If everyone was like Sophie it would be ghastly! The mix of personalities is good.

I have no idea who he is outside of Taskmaster.

Fernie6491 · 28/04/2024 13:33

Like many on here I think Steve is very clever and inventive on the tasks, but in the studio segments with Greg and Alex he looks so bored! He's a proper stoneface and rarely cracks a smile whereas everyone else seems quite happy and animated .
It makes it look as if he's there for the paycheque alone and to fulfil his contract.

No posts after tonight's show. Is it a tried and tested formula that is getting a bit stale or is it that the guests aren't great in this series? I was watching John after the previous comments and he didn't smile at all until the end. He doesn't seem to be enjoying his experience, everyone else was laughing and being animated. I'm loving Nick. I thought he'd be irritating but he's adorable.

I do still love it, but yeah, maybe it's all just a bit samey now.

Umanresources · 03/05/2024 01:37

I enjoyed most of tonight’s episode, but the funniest bit was about Sophie’s grandad shouting at Melvyn Bragg. Really tickled me!

SoupDragon · 03/05/2024 07:47

I loved Steve's thumb war. That and the Nick Hoopla at the end both had me laughing out loud.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 03/05/2024 09:43

I'm still enjoying the show, and so far it hasn't lost any appeal for me. They are committed to making a further 6 series in the next two years apparently. I rarely comment on the evening, as I usually watch on catchup.

I adore Steve as I've always appreciated his writing and production skills. It's making me want to watch all of Inside Number 9 again for the third time

I also like Nick. I don't think there's ever been anyone that I truly disliked as the way the show works, all contestants bring something to the party. Some personalities might grate on me a little bit, but I can always appreciate when they've done a task well, or been hopelessly useless even.

Samcro · 03/05/2024 10:07

i get annoyed with the scoring. the not sophie woman seems to score high for rubbish.

Joanne? Yep, there's usually one of the girls that Greg seems to fancy the arse off have a 'soft spot' for.

Twonewcats · 03/05/2024 15:45

I remember the series with Iain Stirling - he was so irritating with how seriously he took it all and how petulant he got about things.
Then we rewatched it a few months ago, and he didn't irritate me at all!
So I'm think that a few years of increasing bitterness has made me empathise more 😆

Twonewcats · 03/05/2024 15:47

@RainbowZebraWarrior I'm in the middle of watching them all again. I love the Jenna Coleman episode. Not keen on Wuthering Heist, but i seem to be in the minority

FourLeggedBuckers · 03/05/2024 19:32

I never watch it live either. I loved Steve’s thumb war, and his cryptic crossword. He’s a legend.

Also, Wuthering Heist is one of my favourite episodes of Inside no. 9. But everyone else seems to adore the Sheridan Smith episode that I really didn’t enjoy so much. It manages to appeal to people with very different tastes, which is a good thing.

AlbanyNY · 03/05/2024 19:49

I always watch on catch up - loving this series!

Leafbuds · 03/05/2024 19:52

I'd like to see Steve's cryptic crossword! Was it really in the Guardian, I wonder, and which day? I guess whichever the studio day was, but he must have a pal on the inside to arrange that! Or maybe it was a fake insert in real Guardian.

Leafbuds · 03/05/2024 19:53

oh I've found an online link to it!
