Couldn't see a new thread.

I have no idea who they are apart from the fella from League of Gentleman.

What do the others do?

OP posts:

I see TM alumni Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont have split up. I didn't like her until I saw her on TM. Shame. I thought they were very suited.

LawrieForShepherdsBoy · 12/04/2024 15:34

For the tension task, I think I would have made Alex play strip poker 😁😁

She was fantastic on Would I Lie To You?

Ooh now that would have been excellent. Can you imagine that with Victoria Cohen Mitchell?! (was on TM series 12)

Assuming it's not poor taste spoof publicity for their new series next week, that's a shame. I didn't find their show particularly funny but thought they suited each other. I said the same about Bridget Christie and Stewart Lee.
He's with Rosie Holt now. I think they waited to release the news until after Bridget's show, The Change in case people thought it was based on him.
Life reflecting art. That's why I wondered about the announcement as Jon is meant to be "playing" jealous of Lucy's offers following her Bafta nomination, he wants to retire etc

Edited

That would be very bad taste. I didn't realise they had a new series starting next week. Is it Meet the Richardsons or the other one? I didn't realise that MTR is written by Lucy and not Jon. Perhaps she has outgrown him now she has a successful carrier on her own merit.

TheIcecreamManCometh · 12/04/2024 17:07

Yes Meet The Robinsons - it started Monday just gone, sorry. Available online but second episode is next Mon 15th etc week-by-week basis so no bingeing (or I'd already be watching Amanda Abbington who appears in episode 7 and was used as clickbait earlier in the month, as she plays herself but shoutier version).
I might watch a few of them actually as Bake Off and Taskmaster are used as plot lines.

Umanresources · 12/04/2024 17:22

Rose Matafeo has forever changed our pronunciation of the word ‘shed’ in our family. As we now have four of them in the back garden we use the word quite often. 😂

Sorry to hear about the Richardsons splitting as well. I was more of a Lucy fan before Taskmaster, and went off her during it. The same with Sam, and haven’t listened to their joint podcast either. Perhaps it might be worth a listen.

@TheIcecreamManCometh - genius with the tension of playing Strip Poker with Victoria Coren Mitchell. I’m laughing just thinking about it!

CwmYoy · 12/04/2024 17:29

Sad for Jon but have never liked Lucy. Poor little Elsie.

FourLeggedBuckers · 12/04/2024 23:50

I’m massively preferring this series compared to previous recent ones. I think there’s a good spread of approaches to tasks without being extreme and annoying, and there’s been at least one contestant in every recent series who has made me want to mute the tv during their bits. Lucy Beaumont being a prime example of that.

But I’m full of unpopular tv opinions on here 😂

UnicornMamma · 12/04/2024 23:55

As a LOG fan and Inside No.9 fan girl I'm really impressed with Steve so far.

I was let down so much when Victoria choren Mitchell was on but Steve has earned the praise so far

IPartridge · 14/04/2024 11:41

I am still very much enjoying Greg and Alex's bits. I love those 2.

SoupDragon · 14/04/2024 16:02

I'm enjoying this series. I loved the monster catching.

I feel as though John is working out every angle because he’s watched past programmes and working out loopholes, looking round for extra clues under tables etc

Sarah Millican also checked under the table on each task didn't she?

FourLeggedBuckers · 14/04/2024 18:17

I’m sure in the podcast, Steve said he had a grape in his pocket during a lot of the filming in case they ever did a “find the grape” type task (again). They all know what they’re doing 😂

That's what I immediately thought! Then I changed it to strip snap as they only had 20 minutes.

Thought Steve's was the best one

cockneysalad · 17/04/2024 14:57

I used to work with John Robbins. You know how there are some people you work with who make you cry with laughter, well he wasn’t one of them. He’s not a naturally funny person, he must have to work hard at his craft to be considered a comedian.
I like Sophie the best.

Just made me laugh out loud then! Thank you. I like Sophie too, with Steve a close second.

No comments from last night?

I loved the dot to dot task. I especially liked the end shot of Vampire Nick running away after finishing the task.

TheNinthLock · 19/04/2024 10:11

Late to the thread, but hello 👋
I really enjoyed last night’s episode. Dot to dot was brilliant - Nick very much my favourite in that task especially the long distance shots of vampire Nick striding through the field.
Dh and I both grumbled “what a waste” during the stage task though….

I said to DP straight away - who is going to do a cock and balls! But I have noticed that they keep letting people get away with breaking the rules, maybe it's happening too often to keep disqualifying them. Alex deffo said that a dot to dot had to be one continuous line.

I'm not feeling the love for any of the contestants this series.

TheTripThatWasnt · 19/04/2024 10:19

He did say you could turn the dot over to indicate a line break.

SoupDragon · 19/04/2024 10:20

Alex also said they could a number over to end a line and start another.

LMMuffet · 19/04/2024 10:22

I’m really enjoying this series. That’s probably because John Robins and Nick Mohammed are 2 of my favourite comedians. Brilliant live. Also, I’d never heard of Joanne McNally before but think she’s great - will definitely try to catch her live when I can.

SoupDragon · 19/04/2024 10:44

As an aside, I never knew non alcoholic rum was a thing! I suppose it makes sense given there is non alcoholic gin though.
