Couldn't see a new thread.

I have no idea who they are apart from the fella from League of Gentleman.

What do the others do?

I didn't know John and Nick before but they are growing on me.

Leafbuds · 19/04/2024 10:50

I'm enjoying the series too and really liked last night - the dot to dots were really good! Though it wasn't clear whether they were going to be scored on how good the picture was, or how big it was - sometimes I think they need to be clearer on what the task will be judged on

I like Joanne and Steve best. John just seems a bit angry a lot of the time, or maybe that's just competitiveness. He wasn't impressed that it might have been actual rum for sure, but I guess that's fair enough, although I wonder if he is in recovery if the taste of something like rum, even if non-alcoholic, could trigger him.

SoupDragon · 19/04/2024 10:56

Alex seemed to say they'd told him it was non alcoholic at the time didn't he?

They've accommodated vegans etc where necessary too - they do seem to be very careful.

SoupDragon · 19/04/2024 11:08

I wonder whether it was more a case of him wanting everyone to know it was non-alcoholic rum for him rather than him not knowing.

Leafbuds · 19/04/2024 11:09

Yes Alex said they'd told him that whatever it was was non-alcoholic at the time, but then when it was revealed to be rum, he was surprised as I suppose he also assumed that meant alcoholic, until they assured him it wasn't.

I'm trying to remember if someone cut into all the hands (except maybe the actual hand), because nobody set off whatever the health and safety alarm was - or maybe that was just saying that becasue it was an actual hand, they couldn't cut that one! I was expecting a Russian roulette style task where something would go off if they hit the wrong glove accidentally, and they'd be disqualified, but it didn't happen.

Leafbuds · 19/04/2024 11:16

And also with the scoring on this task - they said at the start that it was about working out the answer to who you were shaking hands with, but then points were given to how many contents they got right, so that should have been clearer too

Twonewcats · 19/04/2024 11:52

The speed that some of them started snipping, I'm astounded nobody cut the real hand.
Yes, there was an alarm etc, but it might not have been quick enough to stop them, if that makes sense.

The dot to dot was good, but it did irritate me that they kept adding lots of dots to make a straight line. A dot is supposed to indicate when a line will change direction 😁

And the toilet roll task was so wasteful 😭

Twonewcats · 19/04/2024 11:53

I cried laughing at the "balloon or oboe" part 😆

SoupDragon · 19/04/2024 11:59

With the "who are you shaking hands with" didn't at least one contestant say they'd shaken Alex's hand right at the start when they read the task?

FourLeggedBuckers · 19/04/2024 20:31

I really enjoyed Nick in the dot to dot task - just the visuals of a vampire running around a sunny field full of ponies - and John stuffing his face with cake, which seemed to do a good job of curbing his competitiveness.

RosalindsAFuckingNightmare · 20/04/2024 18:30

I’ve got tickets to see them filming the next series 🥳🥳🥳

Leafbuds · 20/04/2024 18:48

oh wow, lucky you! I signed up for the mailing list but I've never had anything through saying I could apply.

Leafbuds · 20/04/2024 19:07

I've just tried again to sign up though it's now waiting list only

IPartridge · 20/04/2024 19:10

I applied but haven't heard anything yet 🤞

I was successful on my first attempt (series 15) but none since.

IPartridge · 20/04/2024 19:12

I think it was a bit off that they had rum (even non alcoholic) when John is an alcoholic.

I wonder if they checked with his agent beforehand if it was OK?
I agree, when he's had a really bad problem and goes to AA, it's inappropriate at best.

SoupDragon · 25/04/2024 21:47

I have to admit to crying whilst watching Nick in the tie task 😂😂

We were as well. I was hoping for a Sophie win this week though!

CaptainMyCaptain · 25/04/2024 22:00

I loved Sophie on the trampoline in a crinoline and holding a tea pot.

Twonewcats · 26/04/2024 08:59

John was irritating this week. I've really liked him up till now, but he's just not much fun, is he?

Sophie nailed it when she said 'You really want this don't you?'. He's very competitive, I think the others are in it for a laugh (and the money obviously because it's their job).

SoupDragon · 26/04/2024 09:20

I like John. I don't find him irritating and over competitive at all. I don't have a problem with people wanting to win though.

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/04/2024 09:42

I don't dislike him. I like him better than I did at the beginning.

FourLeggedBuckers · 26/04/2024 11:27

It is a competition - it’s no fun if people don’t want to win even a bit. The show works best with a range of levels of competitiveness and competence. Nick has nailed one end of that spectrum adorably, John sits at the other end.

I like John - increasingly as the show goes on.

Twonewcats · 26/04/2024 13:44

I dont think anyone suggested a hatred for people winning 🤦🏼‍♀️😆

I reeeally liked him initially, but starting to get irked that he seems annoyed if he doesn't get 5 points in every task
