Yah. It’s back. I enjoyed s1

wasnt always a murder and clever plots

Details about the plot of the upcoming series are few and far between, but cast members have been dropping some hints as to what fans should expect. Speaking on The One Show, Marshall said: "We've got a murder on a steam train, a medium who predicts arson attacks – that's quite a good one – a local fishing legend lost at sea. We've got loads of good stuff."

Last season saw Goodman get to know his new colleagues – they initially thought he was a little bit odd – and solve a few crimes alongside his new partner, DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi).

Meanwhile, Goodman and his girlfriend Martha were trying, and struggling, to conceive. After some difficult rounds of IVF, Martha chose not to continue trying for a baby, and this resulted in a major fallout between the two. At the end of the series the couple made up, and in season two it looks like the pair are back stronger than ever.

Well it's hardly a realistic programme anyway 🤣

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/04/2024 21:23

I'm struggling with this show. I can cope with "easy" viewing like Death in Paradise, Madame Blanc, etc but this one feels stilted and Martha is not only an unlikeable character but a rather wooden one in my opinion

I really want it to work out for Martha's mum and Richard. I also could t understand why they did t just say they had access to the garden. Can't imagine them being approved, due to the boat!

Well I hope they don't do the while you're not approved then she gets pregnant thing because that would not be cool. I don't think they're going to though, I think the mum is going to give them her house full time.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/04/2024 21:47

@Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes I think that's exactly what will happen.

Riverlee · 07/04/2024 10:34

I’m loving the mum in this series.

I don't get why they couldn't just say that they have free access to the secure garden at the house whenever a foster kid wants to play. Surely that's more reasonable than taking over M's mum's house entirely?
The SW will have been baffled at them agreeing to a home visit and then saying that their actual home was a house (that she couldn't see as part of the home visit that day) but they like to call a boat their home.

This is what I thought, too.

Completely bonkers that the social worker seemed to just accept it.

I’m loving the mum in this series.

Yes, me too.
I love the way that Esther's dd is helping her with the dating Grin

I like the fact that she is nervous about it all.

Richard (Peter Davison) is coming across as very dodgy though.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 07/04/2024 17:07

The mum, and Peter Davison, were both in a programme together back in the 80's - A Very Peculiar Practice (showing my age, remembering that!).

purpleme12 · 07/04/2024 17:11

I don't think Peter Davison's character is dodgy

@Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes I think that's exactly what will happen.

Urgh I hope not, it sends such a horrible message to foster families. I'll be very annoyed if they really want to foster, then she gets pregnant and they're like yeah screw fostering then let's just raise our child in our incredibly unsafe home on a boat.

kazzaD66 · 07/04/2024 18:15

I loved A Very Peculiar Practice.

Yes, it's a shame that Martha isn't really very likeable. I find her quite self absorbed. Do we think Martha's mum will move in with Richard and Humphrey and Martha will ditch the boat to live in the house?

Yes. This is what I think will happen. It’s so ridiculous.

PuttingDownRoots · 07/04/2024 18:22

Back at the beginning of the series, when fostering was mentioned, my initial thought was... they are going to swap the boat for the house.

Thatsthewayitisnt · 07/04/2024 18:25

What happened to Martha’s ex fiance by the way? He just seems to have disappeared .

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/04/2024 20:48

I don't get the hate for Martha. She isn't that bad

Yes swapping for a few days or weeks or months

I have friends who foster. One has been with them for 2yrs - others few months

So won't be days Humphrey

Would have been easier to say mum
Lives there so a granny and just get her checked and dbs

And yes why aren't they married - he left death in paradise to go back to U.K. to chase her

I don't get Martha's hate for mums bfs

If my dad met someone I would be happy for him

Good plot. Clever

They got engaged yonks ago

Edited

If i remember correctly Archie realised he needed to leave, stopped being a partner in the business and took a business opportunity elsewhere

I think that's what happened

diddl · 08/04/2024 15:36

I agree it would have been more realistic to get Martha's Mum checked.

I mean let's face it do they really think that her mum is going to camp out on the boat come rain or shine?

At the very least she'd be joing them in the garden.

Humphrey works so if mum was "visiting" & Martha popped to the loo for example she'd be keeping an eye out or alone with.

Wouldn't she need checking anyway?

Hope Richard isn't dodgy!
