Yah. It’s back. I enjoyed s1

wasnt always a murder and clever plots

Details about the plot of the upcoming series are few and far between, but cast members have been dropping some hints as to what fans should expect. Speaking on The One Show, Marshall said: "We've got a murder on a steam train, a medium who predicts arson attacks – that's quite a good one – a local fishing legend lost at sea. We've got loads of good stuff."

Last season saw Goodman get to know his new colleagues – they initially thought he was a little bit odd – and solve a few crimes alongside his new partner, DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi).

Meanwhile, Goodman and his girlfriend Martha were trying, and struggling, to conceive. After some difficult rounds of IVF, Martha chose not to continue trying for a baby, and this resulted in a major fallout between the two. At the end of the series the couple made up, and in season two it looks like the pair are back stronger than ever.

Watching.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 22/03/2024 20:56

Oh this is sad

shearwater2 · 22/03/2024 21:00

I don't know about cosy murder, that was about the saddest story ever.

But oh a steam train, which Kris accidentally starts off, LOL, and we're all happy again.

Is it always so fucking glib?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2024 21:04

I do like the way they are there watching it happen

Tho why was he put in a cell. He didn't kill him

Yes he premeditated murder but actually didn't kill him. Wife did

I was a bit confused why the husband was arrested as the victim was already dead, so he didn’t murder Him. I guess there are laws that say you can’t stab a dead person but it wasn’t made clear that he was arrested for this.

Also didn’t like the ma’am in the programme. Didn’t find her very authoritative or someone who you’d respect.

2Rebecca · 22/03/2024 23:27

I felt the engine driver mumbled a couple of key sentences when he was crying about how exactly his son had changed after he was hit by the car. That was the reason his son then killed himself later I think but despite rewinding it I couldn't hear what he was saying. He had fractures but I'm not sure if he also had brain damage. It's a shame that bit wasn't said more clearly as it sounded important

Riverlee · 23/03/2024 02:17

i think they said he was never the same. They didn’t actually say brain damage, more a change in his personality as a result of his injuries, operations etc. I agree, it was mumbled.

Twazique · 23/03/2024 17:27

Good start to the series I thought.

The scene with Humphrey [Kris] in the driver's seat was fairly near the beginning and before a murder was discovered so it didn't detract from the story .

The first series always included lighthearted scenes , so it was to be expected that the second one would too .

LadyEloise1 · 25/03/2024 08:28

I haven't seen Series 1 but I'm a bit underwhelmed with this. All a bit twee.

Well to be fair Humphrey accidentally starts the train at beginning of the episode and also at the end!

butterpuffed · 25/03/2024 08:54

Oh , missed that bit at the end or I wouldn't have mentioned , sorry @shearwater2

diddl · 25/03/2024 09:54

Haven't watched yet as when I went on to iplayer I hadn't seen the Christmas one!

Loving the idea of the Australian one.

Wonder who is in it?

Can someone explain to me why the lab report said the cause of death was stabbing if it was actually being poisoned with curare? Or did I mishear something.

also yes it was bloody tragic, horrible

Riverlee · 26/03/2024 07:51

I guess they weren’t looking for poisoning and the stabbing seem to fit the bill (# not a forensic scientist).

diddl · 26/03/2024 08:34

Perhaps there's a standard tox screen that they do unless indicated otherwise & this wouldn't have shown?

Although stabbing seemed right if there wasn't much/blood I suppose it was either different cause of death or not killed there?

Was a bit much though wasn't it?

I suppose a murder series can't really be light & jolly but even so.

I'm finding Humphrey really annoying atm!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/03/2024 09:47

Guessing the lack of blood made them reliese it could be a different cause

Ans obv have to do tox bloods etx

But if someone is stabbed you assume that's the cause of death

i really like this programme (couldn't get on with DIP)
but that was a sad episode.

TheOccupier · 26/03/2024 21:12

Watchable but not great... also, Martha is SO annoying. I could do without the detective having a love interest at all.

I'm glad someone else thinks this too!

I really like Humphrey but I find Martha really self-righteous and annoying.

GrandHighPoohbah · 27/03/2024 17:32

I don't know if I missed this in the last series, but why are Humphrey and Martha living on a cramped house boat, when her mum lives in a big house on her own directly opposite? Did they try living in the house and it didn't work out?

purpleme12 · 27/03/2024 17:34

I'm sure they wanted to live in the boat.
I can't remember exactly why, probably just to be living by themselves together

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/03/2024 17:40

Think they wanted some privacy

Ans he bought the boat
