@AfraidToRun ah sorry I get you now. I've watched quite a few other seasons and have never seen one where it has got down to a final 2, I don't think it can as otherwise it would be stale mate. So I think there has to be a minimum of 3 in the end game. I don't know this definitively though!

Re Harry & Tall Poppy syndrome, there's a traitor in one of the non UK seasons who is even more cocky than Harry or Paul. Judging by reddit comments, it's not just the UK where this doesn't go down well.

I think the production has been incredibly clever this week particularly. They've made us go from frustration at Paul, to support of Harry, to support of Ross.

(I'm still rooting for Jaz though!).

Riverlee · 20/01/2024 21:01

(Anyone else had to look up the meaning of ‘Tall Poppy syndrome’?)

Newgirls · 20/01/2024 21:07

i wonder if Evie and Charlie were put in to be suspect relatives? Dif accents but I wonder why else producers would choose such similar looking contestants.

If Ross goes do you think he will reveal about his mum?

Perhaps he'll get Harry banished and say "That's for my mother!" when he goes, then get banished himself for dishonesty.

We're running out of time, though.

herewegoroundtheblueberrybush · 20/01/2024 21:13

Seems weird they would bother putting a mother and son in there and then not for d some kind of reveal. I wondered whether it might be one of the tasks to guess which players current and already gone might be related or something

LadyAddle · 20/01/2024 21:18

@FruitBowlCrazy The toads worried me as well - I didn't see any disclaimer at the end of the credits about no animals being harmed etc, and I went back and looked.

Harry's comment about putting Diane in her place really put me off him, it reeked of casual misogyny. Especially as I think Diane could deal with him with one hand tied behind her back after a teaching career.

I was also worried about the toads getting squashed! You shouldn't touch a toad, it damages their skin. That said, there are millions of the little critters. Just don't want to see them on TV shows for 'entertainment'.

Nesbi · 20/01/2024 21:33

Using animals in a production like this requires a licensed animal handler, risk assessment, a scoping document setting out the activity, looking at welfare, temperature, lighting, unusual stimuli, access to food and water, risks to the animals welfare, safety briefings, hygiene…

it is all very highly regulated.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but did other people feel uncomfortable with the task in the church? It felt really inappropriate to me and I'm not religious at all

Yes, agreed, and I'm an atheist. They would never in a thousand years have set a game in a mosque or a synagogue. What makes the C. of E. less deserving of respect?

Apart from that, I'm loving this series - it's the best one so far.

Agree, I’m not religious but that episode was really disrespectful in quite a nasty way, as was the funeral episode.

There are so many great tasks (the burglar laser beams one and the searchlights one were great!) they don’t need to do this type of cheap shot nasty stuff.

ChoccyJules · 20/01/2024 21:59

I also thought shooting a crossbow inside a church was disrespectful and quite jarring. As many have said, it wouldn’t be contemplated inside a different place of worship, whether disused or not.

Evie must be being heavily edited unless she really is that quiet, as she only seems to speak once per episode. What she does say is very astute and generally along the right lines. I hope she and/or Jaz are in the final. I haven’t found Zach to be as clever as others do.

ChoccyJules · 20/01/2024 22:00

@Ellysetta crosspost, I hadn’t seen your post just now!

Edited

I strongly suspect that it's not only edited for the best narrative, but there are also pickup shots done where needed to add to the narrative.

Yes, they do need all the animal welfare stuff in place, but for that task, it just seemed so unnecessary to have those toads there at all.

herewegoroundtheblueberrybush · 20/01/2024 22:25

If the toads weren't harmed what's the problem?

Tv do stuff for effect all the time... I guess the coffins weren't necessary either, the castle isn't really necessary, the costumes aren't totally necessary 🤪

jimbojambo · 20/01/2024 22:31

I must have fallen asleep when the toads were on screen. What did they use them for?!

autienotnaughty · 20/01/2024 22:44

SlightlyJaded · 20/01/2024 17:53

I can't help it. I want Haz to win.

I know he's getting cocky but he's worked so bloody hard. He is the only traitor that has strategised. At one point Paul was the most popular member of the group and he flipped that whole narrative and came out covered in glory. I think he deserves it more than anyone.

Failing that, Jaz or Zach for the win. I was so frustrated last year by Meryl. Hannah and Aaron were at least really likable, but Meryl was a fucking sheep who got there by pure blandess.

I agree completely

WhereDidTheYearsGo · 20/01/2024 22:46

Team Harry here too. He's done well. Yes he's looking a bit too pleased with himself but he's nowhere near as smug and annoying as Paul.

AfraidToRun · 20/01/2024 22:48

I find the "production are influencing everything" posts a bit dull. I watch reality TV to have some fun and escape and am quiet happy to take it as presented whilst also acknowledging it's an edit. It seems to be the thing today to be super sceptical about everything. It must be exhausting!

I don't think anyone in there is really a misogynist and it seems a bit farfetched to me to say they are. Harry's comments about Di is just what a murderer would say, which is the role Harry is playing. People were saying for ages Di will get murdered as she's so outspoken and then she's murdered for being outspoken but Harry's not supposed to say that's why?

I wonder if anyone will notice Harry’s mistake, well I think it’s a mistake but maybe I’m overthinking. He’s taken a few of them aside (think it was 3, possibly 2, and it included Zach, who can be pretty astute on a good day), and said ‘shh, I’ve got a shield but it’s a secret from the traitors so when they try to kill me we can see who looks surprised the next morning’.

Great, but that plan would depend on him being 100% sure he was talking to faithfuls. Which he couldn’t be if he were faithful. You’d perhaps confide in one person, but more than that? He’s confided in Mollie as well. Those people should really be thinking ‘how can he be so sure we’re faithfuls?’

That's a good point. I can't remember exactly what he said to Jaz and Zach but Jas already has suspicions Harry is a traitor. If he has said it in such a way that implies he knows Jaz and Zach are faithfuls then Jaz will pick up on that. If called out on it Harry will claim that he just trusts them 100%.

I can't remember if Harry has said he suspects Jaz or Zach of being traitors at any round tables which would undermine him now saying he trusted them to be faithful hence why he told them?

Choux · 21/01/2024 00:14

I just checked and Harry voted for Zack in the round table where Anthony was banished so it wouldn't immediately make sense that a couple of days later he confided in him believing him to be faithful.
