The blondes were rarely given (spoken) airtime at first, so you didn’t really get to hear their accents. I agree that Millie looks different and is noticeably younger.

If I was listening to someone talking for a long time, it would gradually seep into my consciousness that they had an accent. And even then, I might not be able to work out what their accent was unless I could relate it to someone else with a known accent, if you see what I mean? So, I might think that someone talks a bit like Cheryl Cole and then be able to place them as being from the north-east, for example. I’m not sure that this is normal, more likely that I’m a dunce where accents are concerned!

I don't hear accents either, unless they are so strong I can't understand the words. For example, I can watch certain American dramas and not realise they're from USA and not UK. I also struggle to tell people apart (face blindness). It's very embarrassing!
I am quite good at hearing and remembering words and details though, so it's not that I'm not concentrating!

HueyDeweyandLouie · 21/01/2024 10:34

Re the accents observations - Diane and Ross (related) have completely different accents so it's entirely possible for Charlie and Evie to be related and have completely different accents.
(N.B. But even so, I think that would be unlikely!)

Agree. And I MUCH prefer the idea that Tracey and Evie are related and non of us know.

My partner is the same. Can't distinguish accents at all. Maybe just about hear a very strong Scottish one for e.g. but would still struggle to identify it.

Diane is from NI, Ross was born in Northern Ireland and moved to Lancashire when he was 11ish so his Lancashire accent is way stronger. I think his older actor brother still has a northern Irish accent probably because he was older when the family moved.
Relatives can definitely have different accents my kids have Irish accents, and they have cousins with English, American and Australian accents!

Look at the many children who have parents who moved to the U.K. All the Polish children I know have different accents to their parents, the same for friends who’s parents were first generation immigrants from India and Pakistan.

I don’t think it is fair spoil the end of a book or series, even if it’s hundreds of years old. It might have been around all that time but perhaps I’ve only just heard about it.

Sorry, but Eve ate the apple...

HueyDeweyandLouie · 21/01/2024 10:52

I also like the idea that Evie and Tracey could be related. Both from Inverness (?) and I think both work in 'medical' professions - veterinary nurse and sonographer - But again, possibly a reach too far 😁

If it has been deconsecrated, then no problem. If it is still a consecrated place of worship, they would have had to obtain permission from the Church, possibly smoothed by a considerable donation to building maintenance funds.
In any case, if it is in Scotland, it isn't C of E.

To be honest (and as a Christian) I'm slightly laissez faire about that, and far more bothered about animal welfare in the last challenge. There was no need for those toads to be there.

I agree. I'm a Christian and an animal lover. I wasn't overjoyed about the misuse of a church; but was much more upset about those poor toads. They really didn't look happy, and were clearly trying to escape 😔

Ruminate2much · 21/01/2024 11:11

PS, I personally think God would agree. I don't think church buildings are nearly as important to the divine, as the wellbeing of His creatures.

Muffinbutton · 21/01/2024 11:24

Apologies if this has already been said but I can’t keep up with the threads!

My theory about Harry's plan is that Mollie, Zach and Jaz all know that he has the shield. Therefore when he doesn’t get murdered he can say he knows Mollie, Zach and Jaz can’t possibly be traitors otherwise they’d have murdered someone else as they knew he was protected.

Likewise Harry can’t possibly be a traitor as traitors can’t murder a traitor.

So the finger is then firmly pointed at Andrew, Ross, Evie and Jasmine and they’ll get banished as traitors. And then he can murder Jaz and/ or Zach, which reinforces that Andrew, Ross, Evie and Jasmine are traitors.

A final line up of Harry, Mollie and Evie possibly?

Riverlee · 21/01/2024 11:30

@Muffinbutton Either you’re Harry in disguise or you should go on Traitors next year (applications are now open). You sleuthing is superb.

AnImaginaryCat · 21/01/2024 11:33

Can't see the need for Charlie and Evie, Charlie and Tracey being related. Seems unlikely especially as its still not been revealed. Charlie and Evie do look similar- Same hair colour and length ans sane shaped faces. I mixed them up at the start as I did Ross and Brian. I do have dufficult in recogding people anyeay, i have to go on voices and faces to figure out who's who. (Really helps if someone dresses in a certain way too!!)

With Diane and Ross the only things about it iwas how one reacts wheb the other got banished or murdered. Plus it's an extra layer of deception for the contestants to figure out.

It'd would have been fun if all the contestants where related to one other but each thought they were the only pair. But only if we knew, as viewers, from early on. Otherwise what would be the point?

Dotellhimpike · 21/01/2024 12:20

I thought Ross was quite clever in the back of the car when he did Diane's accent but he made it sound like someone trying to do an accent, in that it was far from perfect if you're from Northern Ireland. There's no way he can't do a prefect imitation of his mum's accent, all kids can but he chose to do it badly.

Stowickthevast · 21/01/2024 12:27

I'll be annoyed if Ross wins. He's really been one of the most useless players throughout, always 100% convinced of his incorrect opinions.

It's fun to see how it'll play out but I would much prefer any of the others to win, particularly Jaz, Zach, Evie among the Faithfuls or Harry as a traitor.

IGotItFromAgnes · 21/01/2024 12:29

I would love Jaz to win but I think it’s unlikely, sadly

DontBeAPrickDarren · 21/01/2024 13:27

Are there three episodes left?

So no murder Friday means a banishment followed by a murder on weds, same again Thursday, with the possibility of a recruitment if the Wednesday banishment is a traitor? It seems likely there’ll be at least two traitors standing at the end unless I’ve really stuff up my maths.

DontBeAPrickDarren · 21/01/2024 13:29

Mollie seems likely to be kept in - she’s not seen as a threat to anyone and hasn’t been named as a traitor at any point. If Evie becomes more outspoken she may become a target for murder. But I’m not sure if they both make it to the end that they’ll suss out any remaining traitors. It’s the traitors’ game to lose this year really.

RainbowSnake · 21/01/2024 13:35

There has been a series where it was left with just two people at the end so they don’t have to have three to finish. If two faithfuls or two traitors are left in the final two then they split the money. If a faithful and traitor are left then the traitor takes it all. The series that I saw with two left at the end was a faithful and a traitor but the faithful had no chance in that one either way as the final three had included two traitors.

I think Harry might have overplayed his hand with the shield if he tries saying that group B who didn’t know he had it includes traitors. Firstly because he’s going to end up sounding too confident that he was going to be murdered that night. Secondly because, unless he wins a shield again the next day, it’s going to be difficult to explain why he isn’t then murdered the following night. Finally, because if he includes both Andrew and Ross in group B and doesn’t get one of them eliminated at the next round table then they’re more likely to team up against him. I think he’s trying too hard to be strategic and it might end up tripping him up.

I would like to see Jaz, Evie, and Zach in the final three as I think they deserve it the most from the remaining players. I think it’s more likely that one or both of Jaz and Zach will be murdered though. If Harry’s plan works out then he’s pretty much saved them from banishment. If it doesn’t work out then the others might be suspicious that them knowing about the shield meant that they were also traitors. Either way I don’t see both making the final.
