Ooh I can’t wait for tonight

AnImaginaryCat · 19/01/2024 16:20

One of the two podcasts I listen ro keeps talking about the blonde women. I keep thinkinh i should point them in the direction of this thread. But now I can't recall which one it is. I think I have a problem!!

Anyway they are "Faithful to The Traitors" and Shrine Podcasts. So if anyone else listens to them (I'm sure someone does, doubt it's a listenership of one!) let me know.

(I have no intention of contacting them really,. BTW!)

MaggieFS · 19/01/2024 16:30

Pondering last night's episode, my mind is still boggling at bit at everything that happened. I'm not sure I paid enough attention to the chatter away from the mission and round table.

Did somebody link to everybody's voting records?

RonSwansonsChair · 19/01/2024 16:45

I listen to Shrine Pod @AnImaginaryCat - love those guys!! Been listening to them since Line of Duty 😁
Fair play to them getting their podcast out the day after the episode and before the next one airs.

CaveMum · 19/01/2024 16:55

Just wanted to point out that Harry is a Corporal in the army, he’s not exactly special ops, or even officer material, so don’t hang too much on his “military experience” folks 🤣

Dotellhimpike · 19/01/2024 17:00

Yeah, I think Harry hero worshipped Johnny for his military past, which was quite endearing and an indication Harry wasn't nearly as experienced.

Riverlee · 19/01/2024 17:00

Being ignorant, what level is a corporal? Is that an everyday soldier with no leadership responsibilities?

Generationawesome · 19/01/2024 17:02

He'd be a team leader or supervisor in other jobs

CaveMum · 19/01/2024 17:05

@Riverlee Corporal is basically the third rank up for an “ordinary” soldier - also referred to as NCOs, or Non-Commissioned Officer. When you first join you are a Private, then you are a Lance-Corporal (which can happen pretty quickly after you complete basic training and are assigned a trade) and after Lance-Corporal its Corporal. The minimum amount of time to promote from Lance-Corporal to Corporal is just over 2 years, so if Harry joined up at 18 (he’s 22 I think) then that would make sense.

Nesbi · 19/01/2024 17:09

I wonder how Paul would have come across if he’d had to play the game as a Faithful.

I’m quite glad he’s gone if only because people will now need to move on from constantly going on about how much they disliked him - it was all getting a bit ridiculous.

It almost feels like there has to be a villain in a show like this though, so will that be Harry? I think he is just as cocky and ruthless, but dear god he has put in some incredible performances! I wouldn’t begrudge him winning but feel far less sure he will than I did last week.

If I absolutely had to bet…I think it might be a victory for the faithfuls but I’m very prepared to be wrong.

CaveMum · 19/01/2024 17:09

Yes as @Generationawesome says Harry would have a small group of soldiers that he is responsible for, probably around 12 or so as well as additional equipment depending on his trade (he’s an engineer I believe). He’d have to serve a decent length of time to get the next promotion of Sargeant (about 12 years) at which point he’d become responsible for about 30 junior soldiers.

If he was pushing 30 and still a corporal you might have had a point, but he's 22. I don't think the army has people that young in special ops during peacetime.

Not sure what you mean by 'officer material' either, except that in order to be commissioned you need a degree of some sort, your father probably went to Sandhurst, or you're at the posh end of middle class.

I loved shrine pod when they covered Line of Duty. Such a shame they made that comment about JKR this week , I won't be listening again.

CaveMum · 19/01/2024 17:15

@FruitBowlCrazy thats a slightly strange post. All I’m pointing out is that people are saying that Harry’s military training will mean he’s good under interrogation, etc. Life in the military is not like SAS Who Dares Wins, it’s pretty mundane and most personnel won’t get that level of training.

By not “officer material” I used the wrong phrase, I merely meant he’s not got a commission so he won’t have undergone extensive leadership training at this stage in his career. It was not meant disparagingly.

And FYI, my dad’s disabled and been claiming benefits most of his life. My husband is ex-RAF so yes I know a bit about ranks and military life.

Harrietsaunt · 19/01/2024 16:01

Yeah, Paul just wants to be famous!

I can imagine Paul turning up on I'm a Celebrity next year.....

placemats · 19/01/2024 17:52

One other thing I noticed about last night was the declaration of being a faithful. All the faithfuls said 'I'm a faithful' and the traitors said 'I am a faithful'.

Generationawesome · 19/01/2024 17:55

I'm not a fan of Paul but why is wanting to be famous a bad thing? Diane's kids are all actors, Harry is dating a famous woman. Surely the point of being in the show is for fame? (That said he seems like he's in it for the attention of fame not for a job and is reminding me of that awful tiktoker man with the white hair and red face who dances in his bathroom).

Sorry if you think my post was slightly strange. I misread your post as being somewhat disparaging. My mistake.

I know I'm a few days late with this comment, but am i the only one who thought the murdering in plain sight trial was a little unfair this year?

They revealed someone was poisoned, so most people immediately knew it would be via a drink. With Diane having a slow death, she and others were able to tell the group exactly who gave them drinks the night before. And the chalice wasn't exactly inconspicuous.

If Diane had been murdered immediately, she would not have been able to tell anyone who gave her a drink, it would have been up to everyone else to guess/remember who had given her one.

With this very obvious task, and the slow poisoning, the producers gave them a traitor (Miles) on a plate. The murder in plain sight last year was far more subtle.
