Oh that was me. I don't want to cast Paul as a bully seeing it's heavily edited but it was such a quick turn around from groupies to accussing him with claims of having suspiciions for a while.

So maybe not a bully but his personality could be quite bullish I suppose. People felt uncomfortable speaking against him, especially around his adoring fans.

No one seems sorry to see him go. The celebration were nuts. Think Zach lobbed a chair around!

Speaking about Zach, Charlotte is quite unpleasant to him isn't she? Mind you, I appreciate he's probably a bit much - like an adult sized excitable puppy.

Dulra · 19/01/2024 14:14

I notice Molly's name coming up a bit as a quiet faithful coasting to the end. I agree that she is quiet and maybe a little intimidated by some of the big characters but she often says quite observant insightful things but no one really hears or pays attention to her. I can't remember exactly but a few episodes back when there was a group I think discussing Paul as a traitor but dismissed it because he had voted for Ash and Molly pointed out that traitors can and might vote for fellow traitors and the reaction was like no one had thought of that. I think her quiet nature means she's going under the radar but is very bright and may have it all sussed

TheOriginalFrench · 19/01/2024 14:17

Cannot wait to see what sort of shift in dynamics there’ll be tonight. All the people who were afraid of Paul might feel they can breathe and act more freely.

And there’s a vacancy for Top Dog, but if Harry slides too easily into the space all eyes will be on him.

Surely it’s time for Stepford Inc to be given more airtime? The producers allowed Paul to steal everyone else’s light - how are they going to keep things as exciting without him?

The chair going flying was hilarious Grin

The difference between the banishments of Miles and Paul is that Miles knew ahead of time that Paul had turned on him (he overheard him talking from outside a room). That gave him a chance to prepare his counterattack. In contrast, Paul looked totally blindsided by Harry’s betrayal, and may not have been able to gather his thoughts quickly enough.

Having thought about this further, Paul was in self-preservation mode more than anything else. His ONLY chance of survival was getting Jas voted out instead of him, there was no likelihood of sufficient people turning on Harry at that point. So casting aspersions on Harry would have served no purpose, but could have potentially diluted his message about Jas.

placemats · 19/01/2024 14:23

Paul could have easily turned it round to counter Harry by saying how do you know so much detail. That he didn't do this is a failure and the canny Faithful knew this. I would say they have Harry, who has played a blinder to date, now on their radar.

I'm finally all caught up so can join the thread! I'm excited as noone I know watches it.

Definitely agree the "worldly goods" thing must mean Evie is Tracey's daughter! As there were only three not in the carriage yet, and Diane was the wrong answer. So it only leaves Paul or Evie.

Evie is a good liar saying "oh if she means her crystals and stuff, that's not me".

Interesting how they never questioned back to what the right answer was.

Edited

That would definitely be a gotcha moment for the viewers - 'you thought you know about the secret relationship in the group but you didn't know about THIS ONE'

RomeoandJomeo · 19/01/2024 14:26

I remember discussion on an earlier thread about possible pairs who had a real life connection - Tracy and Evie were definitely mentioned, and a few others too (Paul and Jaz, perhaps?). I wouldn't be surprised if there are several pairs in there, and there will be a task designed to exclude this at some point... it's quite possibly the producers rather than the players who have chosen to keep this from us for now.

Stowickthevast · 19/01/2024 14:30

@Dulra I've noticed that about Mollie too. I think both her and Evie have been quite astute, Charlie not so much but she's probably been murdered.

It'll be interesting to see if they come out of their shells more now.

I think Paul was so sure that Jaz was going at the roundtable that he hadn't even considered anything else. He was properly blindsided by Harry, and I think Jaz's last point to the blondes who don't say anything, helped close the deal.

Tonight will be interesting. Someone (Jaz?) Was bandying Ross' name round as a possible recruit. That coupled with him sticking up for Paul could be enough to sink him.

What's the difference between seduce and recruit ?

TheOriginalFrench · 19/01/2024 14:39

As I remember it, @NCTDN, the earlier recruit - Miles - wasn’t offered a choice, just told he’d been recruited. Whereas Andrew had a choice - although in truth by the time he was in the turret there was no opportunity for the original traitors to persuade him, since he’d already taken the Traitor’s Oath!

commonground · 19/01/2024 14:41

The Evie/Tracy theory is really interesting. But it got me thinking (soz if this has been pointed out already!) - Claudia 'kept' Tracy's photo because she said she was cross she had been banished......and then the photo turns up in the Grave task.

So at first I was like, ah, that was why Claudia hung on to it.....but at that point no one knew who would be there at the Grave task....so, was Tracy always going to be a question with no answer? ie -all the questions had obvious answers, but that one was unanswerable - to make 3 left standing at the end to match the 3 graves?

(Obviously they could have paused filming and added/reduced the number of graves to match the final tally, but yeah, dunno).

That thing with the photo just bugged me. Because Claudia doesn't do/say stuff for no reason.....eg at one breakfast she said something like 'who is making jam today' or some such - just after a shot of Miles asking Paul where the jam was...

Anyway, ramblings!

crabbyoldbat · 19/01/2024 14:45

RE: Diane accusing Miles, and Paul and Evie hearing

  • Diane definitely did say it was Miles, but made it sound vaguer in interviews when out
  • Evie did hear, but has since tweeted (apparently) that she deliberately didn't back Paul up because she was suspicious of him, and wanted to see what would happen.

This last is very interesting, I think, as at the round table, with Miles fighting back, there was actually a moment's wobble about Paul. They could have picked this up and the Paul-sceptics make their attack, but it wasn't followed up then, probably due to Miles having actually handed Diane a drink, and they knew it, but also they needed to consolidate more.

Seduce sounds sexier, but I don't think I actually want to see that turret scene.

Harry needs to lie low now.
Definitely

He's in the military. They get taught about tactical withdrawals.

Tracy was just the last person murdered, wasn’t she? Presumably whoever had been in that position would have been asked the same question and the other questions tweaked accordingly. It would be interesting to know the correct answer - I don’t think it’s Evie, I think it’s someone who got on the carriage at the very final stop or there wouldn’t have been 3 graves.

commonground · 19/01/2024 14:55

I think actually the producers knew who would be in the graves at the end - they knew the dynamic they wanted (ie who would balance Diane out in terms of choice) so they threw in the Tracey question which had no answer so whoever the players said would have been wrong.

MaggieFS · 19/01/2024 15:01

Tactical withdrawal sounds like the chat you see on the pregnancy boards!

You know that running joke where someone takes a famous scene from a film and changes the music to the Careless Whisper sax or something to make it look very different? We need someone to do that to a turret scene, just as they all slip their hoods off, look at each other and smile. Ideally beginning with a clip of Claudia saying, "You can now seduce."

Someone?

Harrietsaunt · 19/01/2024 15:25

So glad to see Paul banished. Very unlikeable man.

I agree Harry needs to dial it down a bit now or people will suspect him.

Glad I am not the only one who can’t tell the blondes apart!!
