I just think the quality of women in this series has been significantly worse than in the first one. Hopefully it will be better next time. But I can't blame the traitors for wanting to give themselves the best chance of winning the money at this stage, even if it means they only recruit males. It's a game of skill and strategy, ultimately.

But hey, The Apprentice starts in a couple of weeks, and no doubt that'll be an all-female final again for the umpteenth time. Seriously, there's not been a male finalist in that since 2017, and last year's series had five women in the final five...how's that for diversity? 😉

(Said partly tongue in cheek...)

I might be dreaming this but last year were they banned from discussing who they thought might be traitors during the day and only allowed to discuss it at the round table?

Stowickthevast · 20/01/2024 07:31

Someone was asking about the final and next week's episodes.

I think in all the other seasons ( UK & other countries) they don't murder on the last night as a reward to the final 5. So we're at 8 now. Next week will have 2 banishments and 1 murder.

With 3 traitors now, there's a real chance there traitors could outnumber the Faithful in the final 5.

Then again, it's more likely the Ross revenge story plays out. They banish Harry and then it's anyone's game. I would prefer Jaz, Zach & Evie to win as at least they've shown some nous.

Stowickthevast · 20/01/2024 07:34

In terms of the women being weak, other than Ash they haven't been given a chance. It could have been a very different season had we seen Jasmine, Kyra, Charlotte or even Evie as traitors.

I'm not saying this hasn't been great to watch, but it would have been nice to have a woman traitor for longer.

it is interesting that Wilf gets airtime when he didnt actually win.
nothing for those who actually won

He pushes himself loads on social media, I’d imagine he’s easy to find and keen for more publicity. The others maybe less so.

TheOriginalFrench · 20/01/2024 07:48

They’re talking about it right now on Radio 4, the Today programme, as an intro to the wider topic of villains in reality shows.

Willmafrockfit · 20/01/2024 07:54

i shall be so gutted if Jaz is banished or murdered

Dotellhimpike · 20/01/2024 07:55

Had to switch off Uncloaked with both Wilf and Nish Kumar as they were both hamming it up to the point of annoyance for me.

Willmafrockfit · 20/01/2024 07:56

i think harry was too full of himself when explaining Diane's murder to Ross, did they really chose her because of her being Brave, or was it because she was an easy target to take the poisoned chalice?
otoh I would have got rid of Diane immediately, she was shown to be quite gobby

That would stifle the game terribly!

Absolutely. There seems to be more discussion during the day this year which I think is good and I wonder if they changed that on purpose this year. I swear it was against the rules last time but I might be wrong?

Riverlee · 20/01/2024 08:25

crabbyoldbat · 19/01/2024 23:04

Yes, I don't really want Ross to win, he's been so clueless.

In priority order, I'd like it to be 1.Jaz, 2.Zack/Evie, 3. Harry (for being a good traitor), then probably, if he gets that far 4. Andrew (for surviving being cannon fodder), 5. Jasmine, 6. Mollie/Ross. All based on the show to date - things could change!

Yes, although I would put Ross/mollie above Jasmine, because at least they speak up in the round table. Jasmine only talks when spoken directly to.

Stowickthevast · 20/01/2024 08:26

It definitely wasn't against the rules. That's the main bread and butter of the game!

We're obviously only seeing a small part of the speculation though.

Charlotte on Uncloaked said Jasmine told her and Harry that their theory about Paul was convoluted but we never saw that conversation.

WhereAreWeNow · 20/01/2024 08:35

God I love Claudia so much. Her delivery of the "like the olden days?" quip was sublime. Said quickly with a smile. Totally flummoxed Andrew and Harry. Genius.
Does Claude really get to choose the Traitors? I'd assumed it was a production team decision.
I really think Harry's letting his mask slip. He's done so well by playing the sweet, clueless baby of the group (he even puts on a faltering, nervous voice at the table) but he's starting to act a bit more like a leader which I think people will notice is a big character change. He's getting cocky. Can't believe Molly didn't clock him saying "trust me, you'll be fine tonight"!

Riverlee · 20/01/2024 08:38

I think Molly slightly hero worships Harry, and just took it as a reassuring comment, nothing more.

WhereAreWeNow · 20/01/2024 08:40

I agree @Riverlee . I think she might fancy him. In fact, the feeling might be mutual. She looks a bit like his girlfriend (who someone mentioned up thread).

Willmafrockfit · 20/01/2024 08:42

Ross should be proud that his mum was so brave she needed to be murdered.

WhereAreWeNow · 20/01/2024 08:42

Also, they're both the "babies" of the group. Sweet, pretty and a bit clueless (although obviously Harry was only pretending to be clueless).

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 20/01/2024 08:56

Surely molly will start to see what a good liar Harry is about the shield business. I would really be questioning that aspect - but I think she is a little blinded by him and likes the fact that the two of them have their 'secret'. Yes also the 'you'll be fine .. I mean I'm sure you will be' comment too!

CaveMum · 20/01/2024 09:10

My understanding is Claudia picks the Traitors but she’s probably guided by the production team. She does interview them all and she also gets given notes on each of them - hence knowing Charlotte’s Deep Heat story.

NonPlayerCharacter · 20/01/2024 09:14

I'm sure there was an interview with Claudia in the last season where she said she was part of the team that made the choices, so she has a hand in it, but it's not solely down to her or any one person.

Choux · 20/01/2024 09:31

I am still enjoying the series but I am starting to think that there are some tip top producers planning the show and script. For example:

The most dramatic death is Diane's who has her son there to see her in a coffin. I think the traitor's are influenced on who to kill by the producers. Diane was killed after there was no wine left but then suddenly some appeared including fizzy rose - her drink.

I struggle to believe that Harry spotted the shield that the others couldn't find (yes the lights were going on and off but still) and then instantly decided to say nothing about having it as he all by himself realised he could use it to recruit another traitor without anyone knowing AND make himself look more faithful by saying 'they must have tried to murder me but I had a shield'.

I think the producers have been influencing the all female murders or maybe just noticed the early females and then ran with it. There is no way they didn't have input into the initial traitor selection - the success of the whole show rests on good contestant and traitor selection- and likely offered advice to the traitors about who would make a good traitor when they were recruiting. I don't believe Claudia made that comment about the olden days off the cuff. I think it was scripted.

Just as people were saying the Diana Ross connection came to nothing, Ross gets recruited as a traitor and then Harry who has never really been misogynistic says 'we put her in her place'. I think producers got him to dismiss her death that way by saying 'make Ross see how easy it is to kill someone'. And Ross was told to ask about how Diane (and possibly other faithful) died so they get their footage to help ramp up the veiwers' excitement.

TLDR - I am loving it but it's a lot more producer guided and scripted than it appears and is not a pure reality show.
