I can't see another thread about this programme starting Jodie Foster, Kali Rees and Fiona Shaw.

From IMBd
"In Ennis, Alaska, the men that operate a research station vanish. To solve the case, Detectives Danvers and Navarro will have to confront the darkness themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice."

I watched the first episode yesterday and I really liked it.

I read a lot of books about, and set in, Alaska so I was disposed to like it.
It was good to be cwtched up under a blanket watching the story unfold in the icy Arctic darkness.

Has anyone else seen it, and what do you think.

PS I love Jodie Foster and Fiona Shaw! I met FS many years ago and stammered some incoherent appreciation. I still blush when I think of it. ☺️

I watched it too. Found it EXTREMELY satisfying.

Cannot wait to discuss

nottoday300 · 19/02/2024 20:00

Found out how to use the subtitles on sky Q made all the difference for the last episode !!! Was good enjoyed it

diddl · 19/02/2024 20:01

I really enjoyed that!

shielder · 19/02/2024 20:56

I enjoyed it

Lovewine1975 · 19/02/2024 21:23

Very good final episode, gutted it's finished Jodie Foster was amazing throughout

haveyougotamin · 19/02/2024 21:36

Season 3 was the worst for needing subtitles! We managed this season without them. Gutted it's over now 😩

AuntieJoyce · 19/02/2024 22:18

“Come summer we’ll find him. We always do. Unless we don’t.” Grin

I liked it. Nice satisfying ending.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 19/02/2024 22:36

I could watch Jodie Foster read the phone book but I didn't really enjoy this. What was the point in Fiona Shaw's character? I think it was all a bit too clever for me 😵‍💫

WhathaveIdoneagain · 19/02/2024 22:40

So what happened to Evangeline then?

I also found it very satisfying. Stories are just stories.

Also just how many bodies did Fiona Shaw dispose of since she moved to Ennis?!

BoredAuditor · 19/02/2024 23:01

I enjoyed it. Very clever.

Parts deliberately left ambiguous I think - like Annie's tongue being at the centre and Evangeline on the deck with JF at the end. Left for us to make our own conclusions.

HeartofSaturdayNight · 19/02/2024 23:03

Fiona Shaw's character desperately needs a spin off series. I just love her, she was so good in this. I really enjoyed this season. Very atmospheric even if the crime story was a bit weak. It was emotionally pretty satisfying, much like season 3 which I loved.

AnImaginaryCat · 19/02/2024 23:33

I just watched.

I have no clue what happened in some parts. Enjoyed it despite that!

Whereisthesherry · 19/02/2024 23:56

Sorry if anyone else has already mentioned it.
But has anyone else pointed out that Annie and Clark's tattoo is the same as the tattoo on the murdered girl in season 1?
Also isnt the tuttle organisation that prior found out funds the mine the same organisation that funded the paedophile Church in season 1?

MariaVT65 · 20/02/2024 02:02

So what are all your personal conclusions then?

Who do you think left the tongue there?

What do you think happened to Navarro?

I love Fiona Shaw but I agree i’m not 100% sure on the point of her character.

I loved the bit where Navarro just casually woke up while being dragged by Clark and then beat the shit out of him.

fonfusedm · 20/02/2024 06:55

wasn’t there an Annie shape figure behind A at one point.

fonfusedm · 20/02/2024 06:55

Was the orange a sign of protection from her mum?

vincettenoir · 20/02/2024 08:29

I liked Fiona Shaw’s character. But it wasn’t very clear who she was. She seemed to be a solitary figure who lived in a remote part of the ice who saw ghosts and happy to dispose of a body for anyone who asked?

Which is ok I suppose. But I guess I would have liked a little more backstory on that.

But yeah, overall I liked it. I loved Navarro.

Artemis6 · 20/02/2024 08:30

Loved the last episode.

No idea what half of it meant other than I think Navarro committed suicide..her mum and sister were gone, having seen visions - as she did.

It was a real twist that the women killed the scientists.

Another series of Danvers and Navarro would be gladly accepted but unlikely.

diddl · 20/02/2024 08:37

When Peter was digging at the ice it also showed a flashback(?) of Hank digging at the ice.

Who was he getting rid of?

MarilynBoo · 20/02/2024 08:50

Hank had told Peter in episode 5 about how he'd had to rescue Peter when he'd fallen in ice as a kid. I think the flashback was Peter remembering this.

Of course!

Thank you!

Feel I need to watch it all again to pick up on what I missed/have forgotten already.

whiteshutters · 20/02/2024 11:42

I've read an article now about this and I don't think we are supposed to know it all. The producers are messing with us with the oranges etc. I guess Navarro ended up in Hawaii. I certainly would from all that snow.

MariaVT65 · 20/02/2024 12:18

I’d love to know what Danvers meant by saying they certainly won’t find Navarro out there on the ice.

RightOnTheEdge · 20/02/2024 15:17

I've just finished the last one.

I was worried the ending was going to be not explained properly or just really weird but I absolutely loved it, it was so satisfying!
I loved the women standing together!

I've no idea what the ending meant with Navarro but I'd like to think she went off had a bit of fun and got her head together and then comes back and has a proper relationship with her lovely boyfriend, teams up with Danvers and gets more connected with the other women and her heritage now she knows her name.
Probably much too simple 😄
