I grew up watching it in the 90s on a Saturday night. I didn't see the sky(?) remake as I don't think we had sky at the time, however this time it looks like they are keeping some of the original events

My favourites used to be Lightning and Wolf. I also used to want to be on it and do the eliminator. No chance of my lardy self making it round it now!

Apollo is also very nice to look at

I liked Wesley but also thought it really odd that they had brought a new competitor in, rather than giving one of the other runner ups a chance.

Yeah Tash qualified as a fastest loser so not sure why the replacement male contestant couldn't have been chosen the same way...?

There will be a male contestant who was the fastest loser, because there was the same number of male and female contestants.

I think the second runner up should have taken Finley's place though, as much as I liked Wesley. Maybe none of them were available to film? It must be a whole day at best, multiple days at worst.

No, they said that the fastest runner up should have taken Finley's place. Finley and Finlay both won their games. The male fastest runner up hasn't competed in the semifinals yet.

What do the contenders win in the end.... bragging rights?

Ok I think @Fizbosshoes meant the second fastest runner up in the mens though.

(Fair enough if I'm wrong but that's what I understood she meant, which is what I would also have expected the Gladiators organisors to do as well)

It was probably a scheduling issue, as I said, it has to be a full day of filming, and not everyone is local.

There's got to be a reason for it, but I don't think it was rigged, if it was rigged, they would have ensured the blue Finley got through. I mean... It kinda looked like he was going to at one point. Wesley did take a heck of a long time on that cargo net, and sped up towards the end....and took a looooong time on getting on the balance beam....

And he could have easily delayed his second attempt at travelator/stumbled again/took a bit of time grabbing the rope etc.

Oh well, it's only a game!

After all the actual qualifiers got through then go down the list to the next fastest loser...or even third fastest if 2nd one unavailable, just seemed weird to have someone totally new.

Don't know the prize this year. I remember when Eunice Huthart won it was cash and a very fancy 4x4. Only reason I remember is apparently she had to sell the 4x4 as the insurance was astronomical!
