On Saturday! Anyone else going to watch? Sorry if there's already a thread please feel free to merge I grew up watching it in the 90s on a Saturday night. I didn't see the sky(?) remake as I don't think we had sky at the time, however this time it looks like they are keeping some of the original events My favourites used to be Lightning and Wolf. I also used to want to be on it and do the eliminator. No chance of my lardy self making it round it now! --Apollo is also very nice to look at --

Wesley did well to keep up for so long as Finley was fastest time in one of the rounds

Bit underwhelming as Finley is better at eliminator but a bit underwhelming in some of the events

Think Bronte would have won if she had started at the same time, I wanted her to win as her performance over the rounds has been stronger

They're advertising for contestants for the next series, i don't think my lardy hobbity self would do very well 😂 although would possibly fancy my chances on gauntlet I probably weigh more than some of the gladiators!

Having just looked at the application form, you can apply to be a gladiator too😂.

I actually thought they were going to bring them out for a quick interview 😭

No way id get up that rope, I can't even do a pull up. I'd possibly be ok at gauntlet by slamming my lardy body into them, but would be out of breath after the first one so wouldn't make it to the end!

I wouldn't mind trying the wall

One of the questions is "what's your proudest sporting achievement?" I got stuck on that one, was never and have never been good at sport.

Surely there's a base level fitness requirement they want?

I wouldn't have a clue on best sporting achievements 😂

Nitro is too good on the wall. I was hoping he’d be paired with Wes as I wanted Finlay to win. Not that it mattered in the end as they both lost that event 😂

It’s a shame for Brontë as I thought she’d generally been stronger throughout. I wish she hadn’t paused before the travelator as she went up faster and could have just edged it.

They didn’t take long. Perhaps a couple of weeks. I make the characters and my husband sets them up. Some pesky teens knocked them over last night. 😡

I thought it was a good final. They were all close. I’d have been happy with any of them winning.

Ive just googled some of the other games, I’d forgotten them. Pyramid made me cringe. It’s a wonder there weren’t more injuries! The female gladiators seemed a lot more athletic in those days. These current gladiators don’t seem particularly switched on. I remember the gauntlet being a lot longer too, with more gladiators.

DS said "do it for yorkshire " in the tea ads!

I'd love to try some of the events but against my friends or family rather than gladiators. I'm a shortarse and would be awful at nearly everything! In the eliminator i think I'd be ok on the rope but I'd fall off the monkey bars! 🤣

I’d only be able to do the rope slide in the eliminator!🤣. I reckon I’d be good at Duel and Gauntlet! Possibly the climbing wall, as it looks really simple- easy step like pattern.

Id be happy with Ulrika presenting again. I met her once, she was really nice and polite. And so pretty, even without a scrap of make up.

I read an interview with Wolf and he said that he and some of the other original Gladiators had contacted the BBC to see if they could be involved (maybe presenting) but never heard back. That would have been brilliant!

Absolutely loved this series, we can't wait to see it back again. Hope all the gladiators return. Viper is a bit rubbish as a character, if he comes back I hope they let him show his personality a bit more. (Saw him on Legend's Instagram - he has the most gorgeous smile!! seems like a nice guy)

Lol, funny but I was thinking exactly the same about giving it a go myself...My similar lardy senior mom bod probably wouldn't survive the first hit in a duel against one of those girls. I defo would be over and done with after my first power ball tackle! Mind you, even I could find some optimism before the gauntlet after their recent lacklustre efforts to stop the contenders! Sad it's all over and done with.. Need it back ASAP :)

I'd actually do it for a laugh although if I survived a whooping from the likes of Diamond in Duel, I'd no doubt be done for after my first tackle or two on PB! So fear of the rope thing defo wouldn't apply in my case! I'd have been replaced like when Wes was brought in! I'm sure a female wrestler would fare far better than my lardy self anyways! lol :)

Every time Viper comes on my kids (3&6) shout “he’s naughty!” And they love it, it’s so funny 🤣

I think anyone would fancy their chances in ''Gauntlet" in it's present state! I'd love to have a go on duel. Knowing my luck I'd land Diamond so probably would be ''biting the dust" very quickly! Agree re Ulrika, would be an upgrade presenter wise for certain. She clearly looked very into it still, when being interviewed about this new series with a couple of the Glads on the Lorraine show a few weeks ago :)
