I grew up watching it in the 90s on a Saturday night. I didn't see the sky(?) remake as I don't think we had sky at the time, however this time it looks like they are keeping some of the original events

My favourites used to be Lightning and Wolf. I also used to want to be on it and do the eliminator. No chance of my lardy self making it round it now!

Apollo is also very nice to look at

I like the Walsh duo think Barney is getting better as the series goes on and he's finding his feet.

Series 1, episode 1... A contender lost their shoe to a gladiator on the wall 😂

This is absolutely fantastic news.. Going to seem like an eternity waiting for the new series next year. We were deprived of seeing those massive hunks doing battle in their shiny lycra cozzies for far too long before it thankfully returned to our screens.! Really hoping they do the extra celeb type shows around Xmas as I read before. :) . Oh and new presenters are needed in accordance with the majority view. .

I'd like the presenters to be changed for more suitable presenters. Should be a female presenter in my view. I've read Gabby Logan and Kirsty Gallacher (presented Sky gladiators) are both interested.. Yes the Gauntlet must be amended, far too easy for the contenders. Perhaps swop the Wall or hang ''not so tough!" for The Pyramid..one of my faves...Finally I'd like to see the Glads behave a bit nastier..In short they're too nice all of the time. Do like Legend's funny antics but not a fan of Viper. His attempts to be the Wolf man are pathetic and he's quite diminutive (small sized) for a male gladiator. Yep I'd replace him.. Hopefully with a massive muscle hunk who looks so amazing in a shiny lycra cozzie like Giant, Bionic, Phantom and Nitro do ! ..lol:)

I thought the same, especially the men.. Their massive hulky bods clearly outmatch the male contenders even more than the 90s and the Sky series.(Apart from Goliath.. He was massive)! With that said I'm definitely not complaining.. That's the main motivational factor why many in this thread are watching every week! lol :)

I actually wonder whether the male gladiators are too big and too hard to beat?

I like that they're nicer @GemmaC50 - really don't need to see nasty behaviour & think its good they can be ultra competitive during the match but friendly straight afterwards.

Viper is annoying as he doesn't have the goods to back up his nastiness. At least Wolf used to win back in the day but I've not seen Viper win a game at all.

Please no to Gabby or Kirsty - fresh new presenters please if they're going to change them (although I like B & B & don't need a token female).

Wolf had more charisma than Viper, and the song that the audience sang helped.

That's one thing I'd change - more music that really gets things going and the crowd all singing along! (That I can sing along to also!)

That's very impressive Honeyroar! Hope you scared some crows with your masterpieces :) I've seen a few similar comments stating the same about the male glads..With that said when we think of what a gladiator should be, surely you envisage a giant muscleman in lycra? I mean they should be complete physical units.. Not purely for the happiness of many like myself who adore those massive gladiators, but for the roles they perform for our entertainment!! And the male contenders do get to score points to compete with each other even if they normally are soundly beaten by the gorgeous hunky gladiators in my fave more physical events! Moreover, at present all of the male contenders get to breeze past the glads in Gauntlet! lol :)

Great to hear it's coming back, just hope they add a few more events, hopefully they were being cautious in case it didn't work out, so can add more to season 2

I'd love to see the pyramid game back but I guess there's no way it would be allowed after Jet hurt her neck in the original one.
I really hope they have some more games next time.

I'm not keen on Bradley and Barney as presenters. Actually I quite like Barney and I usually really like Bradley but his jokes are terrible and awkward on this show.
They did the Barney talking about not paying attention and Bradley pretending not to know what's going on in both the last two episodes 🙄

I don't think it needs a female presenter just to tick a box. Definitely not Gabby or Kirsty as well. They'd probably get Alex Scott knowing the BBC or Holly Willoughby as her husband produces it.

So I'm glad we have the Walsh duo.

The Gauntlett seems too easy and not sure why or how they're getting past the gladiators. Apollo is a 6ft6 NFL/ex rugby player, Bionic is also 6ft6. Maybe they're being too nice as you shouldn't be able to get past those two.

Shame we have to wait until 2025 for the next series though.

Gauntlet has been a big let down, it was one I was most looking forward to seeing

I'm on a football forum and didn't realise until someone said that they used to have 5 gladiators in in, so maybe go back to that, I can't remember how much time they used to have?

Was it narrower back then? Also why can't the gladiators hold people in the pads? What else are they supposed to do with them to stop them if they can't hold? Plus they look so much bigger and unwieldy it almost hinders the gladiators, especially some of the female ones

Like someone said, cut down the time, or add another gladiator, there's enough space for another

It almost seems a bit tamer now, people used to get punted over the side, there's only been one or 2 this series, most memorable was Bionic launching someone back a whole zone 😂

I'm convinced it's wider, people seem to be able to duck round the gladiators now. Make the walls steeper

Wall is too easy as well - the old one used to have over hangs and all sorts. Also are climbing centres with walls more accessible nowadays? If I was going to be on the show I'd be going to one and regularly practicing. It would be interesting to see the difference in hand holds between now and then. Also please make them wear high top shoes it's getting a bit silly seeing gladiators keep coming away with shoes😬

I'd like to see swingshot and sky track back again, atlasspheres I'm sure they did a couple of different events in them? Would be an easy one to set up too once you have the cages built

Pyramid was good to watch too but don't think they'll be able to after Jet's injury, I can't think of a way of avoiding it, unless you have them race against a gladiator on the other side and first one to get all pieces to the top wins (bit like the stairs with weights they do on strongman)

Whiplash would be fine for the females, as they're a bit more evenly matched, I think the male gladiators are too much bigger than the contenders, but then again we want the gladiators to be hard to beat

Hopefully they were just being really conservative with the events in case this was the only series

It would be fun if they brought train to win back - children were the contestants and were coached by a gladiator - would be a good way to potentially inspire children get active

I was a child at the time and wanted to be on it! I can remember the gladiators being lovely with the child they were mentoring.

Guess you'd probably need to bring in a lot of safeguarding aspects however (DBS/safeguarding training etc).

Would be a lovely way of getting some of the more disadvantaged children an opportunity, especially if the show provided funding for their costs (travel etc). Their schools could nominate them

While I can't agree with you presenter wise, you could see BBC box ticking and appointing Alex Scott.. So hope that doesn't happen! Lol all the HW comments on the Daily Mail glad threads suggested that HW would likely do an ''Ulrika" on her weirdo hubby as soon as the first big hunky glad smiles and bounces his big pecs in her direction! lol.. Can already see the headlines! lol
Yeah Gauntlet is so disappointing. No way should they be breezing past the glads you name. Then you've 6'05"Giant and Phantom, both huge units too.. No way it should be so easy..I include the female gauntlet in this too. I reckon I'd have a chance of getting through them..well a chance anyway! lol. There was one Gauntlet highlight mentioned beneath by @MadCatLady27 beneath which is when Bionic launched that guy back a whole section of the gauntlet. I mean the guy actually flew backwards in the air!
Clearly they need an extra glad in the tunnel. I am thinking improved pads and as many identify, the tunnel is actually wider! My fave events are the physical events and in the original and Sky versions Gauntlet was up there with Duel, Power Ball, Pyramid and that one on Sky where it was practically a wrestling match on an elevated platform. Now it's my least fave. It has so much potential to be the super spectacular event it used to be.. But yep, those guys and gals shouldn't be getting through so easily....If at all! lol :) .

Had to google ''Whiplash" but I remember it now. It used to be on the American one to which I used to catch when I did some night shifts years ago..Yeah that's a great event.. Would love to see it brought back. Take your point about the disparity in physical size of the male glads vs contenders.. But we're watching ''Gladiators" aren't we! As you said, we want the Gladiators to be hard to beat, I couldn't agree more! They should perform as spectacularly as they look!

Another pathetic gauntlet, only Marie Louise looked like she incurred a challenge and then they punished the gladiator!

I think they should be allowed to hold the contender for x amount of time say 3 seconds
