I grew up watching it in the 90s on a Saturday night. I didn't see the sky(?) remake as I don't think we had sky at the time, however this time it looks like they are keeping some of the original events

My favourites used to be Lightning and Wolf. I also used to want to be on it and do the eliminator. No chance of my lardy self making it round it now!

Apollo is also very nice to look at

I actually saw Wesley wrestling some months ago now with my bezzie and have to say he was very impressive in the ring gaining a spectacular victory although Wes is much older than stated on glads! The men's duel event is probably my fave and Wes actually rocked Giant up there tonight. For a second it looked like Giant was going to get knocked off! Usually the likes of Giant and Bionic knock the other guys off after a couple of blows! Wes was robbed by a poor decision after the review imo..And I'm a fan of the Giant! lol :)..

You're saying they're lying about Wesley's age?!?

I appreciate that Wesley's introduction was controversial.. I've actually seen him wrestling some months ago and I expected him to do well. My word, he was amazing against Giant in tonight's duel. Most guys are knocked off after a couple of blows but there was no shifting Wes tonight. Really unlucky not to have caused a major upset! Giant was on his haunches albeit briefly! The review decision was wrong imo...I reckon Wes will beat the army officer and win the series now!

Yep, although I can't remember specifically how old he was reported to be, I remember thinking he's a good decade older than they stated. I spoke to a friend after he appeared on the show and she said that both her and her sis both said the same thing!

What makes you say he's not 35??

I hope Finlay wins the final. Partly because he’s Scottish but also it seems a bit off for someone to win who didn’t go through all the stages. I really would have liked to have seen Chung in the final though, it would have been a good one. Finlay will have a better chance of winning as he nearly caught up to Wesley in the eliminator when they went against each other even with something like a 10 second deficit. There’s no way he could have been so close with Chung.

I was a young child when the last gladiators was on so don’t remember it that well but were there so many injuries and subs? The men seem to have a rougher time.

I think the gladiators are bigger and stronger than they were in the 90s.

Some I’m guessing aren’t natural so that definitely creates a bigger gap between male competitors and gladiators, which you don’t see with the female gladiators.

Gutted for Kerry last night. Looking forward to the final next week. Really hope it gets renewed.

Yeah, good point. I think so too. Especially the guys. I remember Warrior and Shadow were particularly massive but I think the likes of Bionic and Giant are physically even bigger. Not that I'm complaining at all! lol :)

The good news I bring is that the new series is already in the planning in addition to celeb episodes etc. I'm one of many that are hoping they change the presenters though! lol :)

He just can't be! No way! I'd put him at nearer 50 as do friends of mine. I've practically seen him from a few yards away from a 2nd row ringside seat at the wrestling and my bezzie who was with me there also thinks likewise!

I think they really work as presenters for this!

I like Bradley and Barney. Barney’s a bit Green, but I like him. Their clothing budget must be minimal as they’ve worn the same suits every week.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. The vast majority want them replaced. Very odd there's no female presenter imo..Otherwise love this amazing show. The highlight of my week TV wise.😎

I don’t mind Barney but I don’t like Bradley, he seems to enjoy making fun of the contenders. Agree they need a female presenter.

The show is crying out for one. Just hope it's not Holly Willoughby as she put herself forward before and her weirdo hubby owns the production company that Kate Phillips commissioned to produce the show. Apparently Gabby Logan is also really keen. I think she'd be really good.

I like Barney too and think they work well together but wouldn't mind if Bradley were replaced. Don't know who with though - Gabby Logan is ok but someone like Jessica Ennis Hill or Laura Kenny (now that she's retired) could be good.

@theconfidenceofwho . Yep good choices..Anyone other than HW will do.. Can imagine HW would do an Ulrika the first time a big hunky lycra clad gladiator smiles and flexed his pecs for her! Can see the news headlines already,. We all know HW loves a good headline or two! That said looking at her very rich but very weird looking hubby, I'd probably be doing the same! lol :)

Bradley is great, Barney is crap.

Ah I like them and their daft little interactions. I’d be disappointed if they were replaced for the next series.

So gutted for Kerry! I like Mari-Louise a lot too but what a horrible fail on the travelator, she'll be sad about that for a long time.

In total agreement about Wes- he better not win.

Just watched tonight as was out last night, I'm so gutted for Chung he was my favourite, and just seemed a really nice guy.
I think the way Wesley was subbed in seems unfair as well.

Also gutted for Kerry but fair play to Marie Louise! As someone vertically challenged, I'm usually rooting for the smaller contestant!
