I know fron the last series that many think this is a series that should have quietly been taken of air years ago.

But the telly addicts thread last time was so funny that it made it worth watching just to be able to join in the comments.

As our two lead characters have zero chemistry and barely speak, and they rarely do any actual pathology, one can only speculate what even more far fetched adventure they will get up to this series.

Not forgetting each more implausible fashion get up Nikki will be wearing to work each episode.

Ah I quite like Jack I just think k the writing is has stripped his sparkle away.
if they just let Nikki and Jack have a bit of actual banter/ flirting I think it would feel more realistic. They don’t ever seem to share a look or a smile unless it’s one of those solemn or meaningful looks. Makes the whole thing feel very scripted and awkward.
they had much more chemistry in earlier seasons.

the pathologist Beck or Peck or whatever his name was killed himself, and the dog food was for the prisoner as he didn’t have a dog.

Wonderfully gothic revenge!

I think John Hannah's character said it had taken him 10 years to find the baddy so he'd 'only' been there for 10 years.

Motnight · 11/01/2024 20:58

I found these 2 episodes rather enjoyable though completely ludicrous!

Nikki and Jack's portrayal of their relationship wouldn't be out of place in a period drama.

Finding it very funny that Velvy is sometimes treated as a random member of the public who just happens to have wandered in with some of the questions that he asks and how things are explained to him.

I thought beck/peck whatever his name was, caught Dunn when he was trying to kill the final victim (the one who did the video call) and had been kept him imprisonment ever since?

GnomeDePlume · 12/01/2024 10:25

@Decafflatteplease I did get a bit lost in the time lines! I'm sure I heard him mumbling something about it taking 10 years to find Dunn but I could easily have been mistaken as I was doing a jigsaw at the same time.

SoundTheSirens · 12/01/2024 10:29

I thought he said it took him (Dunn) three years to start talking?

I'm not sure what Velvy's official role is at all. Is he a student doing work experience? Is he on someone's payroll or do we all get a turn at some point?

He is a trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist, apparently.

Of the newer wannabe-employees over recent seasons I liked Simone, the botany expert. It's a shame she left (even if her presence did mean every case suddenly hinged on some rare pollen / leaf fragment left on the body). I quite liked the little callback to her when Jack said "if only we had Simone here" or similar on Monday.

LittleMonks11 · 12/01/2024 12:43

Bring back Simone!

Wolfcub · 15/01/2024 19:02

I can't decide if I can face watching tonight

LittleMonks11 · 15/01/2024 19:42

I just started on demand. Prepare to suspend your disbelief and hide behind the cringe sofa within the first five minutes 😬

This next set also has John Thompson in and had a good write up at the weekend.

So on we plod, overshoes in hand 🍿

Posypointshoes · 15/01/2024 20:29

I completely forgot it was on again tonight, shows how much of an impression last week's made, although I did quite enjoy it at the time!

SideshowAuntSallyx · 15/01/2024 21:56

I'm loving it tonight, mainly because it's filmed at my old University and I'm loving playing spot the location.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 15/01/2024 22:05

The acting this week is exceptionally bad. Absolutely wonderful stuff.

Gherkingreen · 15/01/2024 22:06

Why cast John Thompson as a southerner with a terrible accent? What's with Jack's mumbling? Who are the two spooks loitering gormlessly around the prof? Does the Lyle owner every actually do any work at all? Why did I watch til the end?

LittleMonks11 · 15/01/2024 22:07

Very weird sauna come knocking shop scenes.

littleducks · 15/01/2024 22:08

When I went to watch I saw old series are all up on iPlayer so have started at series 1 switch I hadn't seen before. Not sure when I started watching but think was in Nikki was in it. Very different sure in 90s lots more police doing well police stuff. Tech then seemed to be magnifying glass and fragments picked up on sellotape, amazing any crimes were solved.

Jack can't act anyway let alone when he can't actually talk

There's some missing in the iplayer - season 1 has 2 more episodes. BBC say they don't have the rights but i suspect its the story - its based around police brutality and has got Philip Glenister in it. They're on daily motion if you want to see them.

I am a forensic pathologist which makes it far more entertaining to watch. I often feel like I’m failing miserably at my job compared to her or at least don’t put in as much effort or steps as she does 🤣

Edited

And the hair. How much effort do you put into your hair? Do you do Scandi midsummer plaits every time you head out to a crime scene?

Walkinmyshoes3 · 16/01/2024 09:36

🤣I’m lucky most days if it’s brushed.
it is very unrealistic - I 100 percent don’t spend time running around London, questioning people and getting locked in cells !

SoundTheSirens · 16/01/2024 10:08

I found last night's a bit boring. I don't mind so-bad-it's-good TV but boring is the worst sin. I only really woke up when Kevin McNally was on screen because he's at least got some presence, and the scenes with Kara as she's pretty much my favourite regular these days. I hope the missing/dead man found (and identified through blood low down on a bridge pillar in a tidal river that hadn't been washed away 🙄) plot has an epic twist, because last night's set up was just duuuuuulllllll.

CharmedCult · 16/01/2024 10:56

I agree the acting in last nights episode was particularly bad, the scene between the uni lecturer and the homeless guy was cringingly awful, DH and I talked about how terrible it was.

And Jack was acting like a parody of himself last night.

3smallpups · 16/01/2024 11:00

Jack was dreadful last night, it felt almost like he had read mumsnet last week and seen the comments about lack of sexual chemistry and wanted to spice it up a bit 🤣🤣
Cringeworthy 😬
