I thought it was really good. I don't know what the haters and beraters are on about. Confused I have watched all 6 episodes on ITVX now, and was hooked to be honest. I suggest people ignore the 'OMG this was so bad' comments and give it a go. People have different opinions. Some will think it's good, and some will not.

It was very enjoyable IMO. Maybe you do have to suspend belief in a couple of scenes, but you get that in MOST shows, and to say it was shit is just not true. People are very critical on here. It's a fictional drama FGS.

Only thing I thought was weird - and it's not a spoiler - is the French girl who came over to the UK (who is in the first episode,) keeps slipping with her accent. A few times during the series, she slips in and out of French and English. The actress is English/British, and a few times during the series, she says a total paragraph, (like 20-30 words,) and sounds 100% English! Then she goes French again!

But yeah 4 out of 5 stars from me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

TitsInAbsentia · 13/01/2024 22:40

If you can get past the obvious oddities in ep 1 (pregnant cop wading through dirty water and all that) it's actually not bad as tv dramas go!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/01/2024 22:44

I didn't think e1 was that bad

Yes maybe a tad unbelievable about stealing files and dna website

But ok viewing

Looking forward to e2

@Blondeshavemorefun could you add me to your tag list for drama series threads, pls? 🥰

Goldenboysmum · 14/01/2024 07:48

I binged this on stvplayer Friday/Saturday night. Can't say I was overly impressed with it.

I'll wait till its all been shown though and hopefully remember to come back with stuff I picked up on/annoyed me!

I watched ep 1 last night - to me, the acting was appalling!

I'm 20 mins in and just knew you'd have a thread here!

Is it me or can't these actors actually act?

I'll see out the end of the episode but I don't hold out much hope 😬 There's so much excellent viewing on atm, this may not be one to waste time with.

We said this.
We turned off after about 15 mins, the ‘acting’ was dire.

I find myself watching old Only Connects as I can never find anything on - that isn't reality TV, Mike Mcintyre or crap!

I've got Amazon Prime, and watch almost anything.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2024 11:05

Of course

thank you💘

SusieSussex · 14/01/2024 13:11

I've only watched the first episode. I thought it was odd that the main character went so quickly from saying how they are not allowed to look up victims' DNA on ancestry websites and she'd lose her job. Then suddenly we see she's sent off his DNA and presumably setting it to allow family matches to contact her. Then answering the phone when they did. It was a bit of a sudden U turn.
I thought it was OK other than that. Not gripping, but entertaining

are you on Netflix?
Loads of good dramas on there, as well as great documentaries like I Am A Stalker.

Edited

I hate it when police officers blatantly break rules on TV dramas and getting away with it (not watched the whole series but we know she will.)

butterpuffed · 14/01/2024 15:10

Just seen the first episode , had to suspend belief a couple of times with what the policewoman was doing and where she'd been sent . I enjoyed it though and will be watching the rest .

OldTinHat · 14/01/2024 15:20

I gave up after the first episode! It was really rubbish!

For those asking what excellent viewing there is, I have suggestions pop up on my Google news feed every morning. I bookmark them and then binge and try and catch up. I thought Christmas was awful, nothing new, but there are some very good dramas out there.

verdantverdure · 15/01/2024 01:54

I haven’t read the thread, because I don’t want any spoilers but we got to the point where Sophie Rundle’s experienced police officer character is asked to describe someone and she says something like “tall…a hero…”

And if I’m going to persevere after that I’m going to need to know it gets better.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2024 09:03

This is tv paced so spoiler free

Only seen e1

2 is on wed

I’m playing catch up on a list of @Blondeshavemorefun programmes and accidentally watched three episodes because I didn’t check when it started, or that it’s only on once a week. I must’ve been watching a few things that’ve been shown on successive nights and just let it run on.

No spoilers ahead.

I agree that there are some utterly stupid premises and the trope of the dreadful in-laws had me rolling my eyes, although there are enough MN threads that have similar stories 🙄

Jo and Pat don’t seem to have a great relationship and I can’t see any chemistry between them, which is so odd seeing as they’re married in real life too.

I like Lorraine Ashbourne as an actress, but Molly seems quite a cliched character, most of them do if I’m honest and so is the plotting and the writing and yet I kept watching. Can’t explain it.

Another big eye roll was Jo being told to stick to the pavements because the manholes were popping up, yet there they all were wandering about thigh high in dirty water all over the place. If trained people can’t exercise even the simplest common sense, then I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised that they throw all caution to the wind in desperate situations.

I wouldn’t say it’s something I’d have recorded pre catch up TV, but I will stick with it to see how they develop things.
