Thanks for the recommendation!

colouringindoors · 11/01/2024 00:21

Hmmm. As other PP... she's not believable.

ciderhouserules · 11/01/2024 11:47

Well what a load of crap that was. I totally believe that the young pregnant policewoman would be on the front line to throw herself into a flood, get told to attend a dead body... Hmm
i got halfway through and i hated everyone, from the cowbag sister-in-law and her Kerrazzzzzy husband and moody teenager, the controlling husband, the mother whose acting is terrible (in fact ALL the acting is terrible) all the way to the over-excited frenchwoman (where have i seen her doing the exact same person before?) who happened to phone the exact moment the Policewoman got the letter. And WHY did frenchwoman phone? She'd presumably got a letter saying her Brother had submitted a DNA test - but she knew he was DEAD - 5 YEARS AGO ShockShockShock Grin
As for the policewoman explaining what she was working on 'because mum asked' - has she never heard of GDPR? Of confidentiality? How long has she been a policewoman? And she's telling all and sundry (Ok, her mum, but it might as well be the woman in tesco) about the case?

AND THEN sends off the DNA to a DNA site, while saying IT'S ILLEGAL? Is the DNA just held on a file at the station? I thought you had to spit in a jar ?

Such rubbish. There's suspension f disbelief, then there is utter crap.

Houseplanter · 11/01/2024 12:56

@ciderhouserules nailed it!

Might have to watch another though, out of some sort of weird fascination.

the80sweregreat · 11/01/2024 13:13

The dialogue was written by a sixth former I'm sure of it.
The policewoman's mum is normally pretty good in dramas etc, but she wasn't in this

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/01/2024 14:52

Hubby wanted to watch so haven't seen /read replies and will see tonight and be back to reply

Oh and the woman with the baby in the flooded car - stood there shrieking 'my baby! my baby! Won't someone rescue my baby! who i am just standing right by' I know! Get the entire carseat out and struggle with that! Carseats are impossible to carry on dry land in the middle of town!

That baby would be unclipped from the seat and down my coat front and I'd be on the bank in the time it took for gormless policewoman to blink twice.
Obviously the baby needed to be in the carseat for it to float off and the Hero to reach it but even so... I reckon I will hear you screaming at the TV tonight, @Blondeshavemorefun Grin

idontlikealdi · 10/01/2024 23:10

It was so bad I turned it off after 5 minutes.

Snap it really was bollocks.

placemats · 11/01/2024 17:17

I'm liking this and keeping to TV pace. Very intriguing.

SideshowAuntSallyx · 11/01/2024 17:43

It's a shame it's so rubbish as the cast are pretty good, Philip Gennister, Sophie Rundle, Jonas Armstrong, Lorraine Ashbourne why an earth did they put their names to it I'll never know.

Augustus40 · 11/01/2024 17:49

Am watching episode 2 on ITVX. It seems to improve to be honest.

As if a heavily pregnant police officer would be on front line duty in an out of control flooding river 🙄

I did think that thi she said next week she would be on desk job

TootsyPants · 11/01/2024 20:17

Watched up to end of episode 5. It does get better and a couple of scenes were filmed at the same farm as Last Tango in Halifax.

Wildyone · 11/01/2024 20:53

Exactly. Also as an actual police officer of 20 years..the minute you tell them you're pregnant you are OFF the streets. End of. You are no longer public facing, let alone walking through filthy flood water!!! Beyond a joke.

Oh then a DI turning up at a sudden death and barking at her to move..NEVER in my whole career would a DI speak to a plod like that. Just plain wrong. Not to mention its the officer who would call their sgt first IF they deemed it suspicious. Then it moves up if suspicious. Get it right if you're going to do police dramas...one reason I never watch them and turned this guff off

Wildyone · 11/01/2024 21:09

She might well be, the point being she'd be on a desk job the minute she confirms the pregnancy. If at 7 weeks, then so be it. Have you EVER seen a pregnant PW? No,and for good reason. They're in the back office.

purpleme12 · 12/01/2024 01:14

Didn't like seeing the dead bodies

Ellenanora7 · 12/01/2024 01:50

Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun nearly missed this one, have set to record 😊

Bunionbabe · 12/01/2024 08:47

I liked the old chap who said they were staying put as they had a functioning toilet. Not for long, sewers all flooded. Total crap, as is this programme.

purpleme12 · 12/01/2024 13:41

I quite liked the programme. I don't think the acting's bad. Didn't like seeing the dead bodies.
Don't know how she's going to get it of this one with putting the DNA on the thingy

Augustus40 · 12/01/2024 19:11

I have binge watched it all. Well worth sticking with!

Mintyt · 12/01/2024 22:06

@BlackBean2023 all you said was true

Total disregard of all gdpr and police training

Stealing the file

Adding to ancestry to get dna Match

But a good few plots

The man who saved the baby is Dodgy /on the run as hiding so what has he done

Why is lift man not dead for 5yrs

Pat/hubby obv doesn't like her working but how did she manage to lose 4w of preg and not go to any scans

Houses and roads managed to design quickly from flood

I'm easily pleased as many of you know but I enjoyed this
