Grey's Anatomy rewatch

Have loved GA since it was first broadcast although don't think it's anywhere near as good as it used to be, so have been re-watching since the start.

I now can pinpoint its demise - season 6!

Starts with George's funeral, then the merger with the horrible people from Mercy West, Izzy leaving, the Chief drinking, Teddy arriving and all the angst with the Owen & Teddy! Too much change and too many new characters in a short period!

Before this, it was practically perfect & then season 6 onward is downhill all the way (with a few amazing bursts - the shooting episode; the musical episode - can't remember others right now but no doubt there will have been a few more to keep me watching).

Anyone else agree or think otherwise?

I’m aware I’m ranting and far, far too over invested in fictitious characters but it’s making me angry!

I used to be obsessed with Greys from 2006, when my brother made me binge watch seasons 1 & 2.
I rewatched everything on repeat until after Derek died, then mostly watch general episodes after that (I like the one when she told Nathan that Owen's sister was alive), but after Alex left it rapidly drove itself off a cliff.
I think I had to drag myself through the covid series and after that I've not bothered.

Now when I go back to earlier rewatches I find I can't watch anything with Izzy because she's such a manipulative shit.
My favorite series' were 2 through to when the plane crashed. I loved Mark and Lexi together, Arizona and Callie. It was still funny and wove medical cases and drama together.
Christina Yang was and always will be the best character in it!

@tallsmallmum I’m not saying they aren’t valid issues, I’m saying it switches off a large portion of the audience. I will stop watching if it continues to be the predominant storyline. If you want to raise awareness you need to be a bit more subtle.

I'm getting towards the end of season 8 now and realised I was too early in my original post as this season is great.

Hate Owen with a passion & had totally forgotten he cheated on Cristina - she was far too good for any man on GA.

I think they're doing one more season, then it's finished

I hope there isn't a big delay between the new season airing in America and the UK. A few years ago it was about 6 months behind!
It doesn't happen so much with other shows, but greys always seems quite far behind

No, it hasn't come out anywhere yet. It was delayed because of the strikes. It's starting in America in mid-March.

Is anyone else irrationally annoyed by Levi's boyfriend (Niko?). He reminds me of Oz from American pie.

I'm on season 13 and every other episode only follows one story line. It's so annoying.

I'm watching Grey's for the first time, currently on season 8 although I'm nearing the end.

Hate Owen and I read that he gets worse? Jeez.

I just finished station 19 which took me a while to get into but I did love it in the end. Inevitability, its led to a rewatch of greys anatomy. 4th time round I think.

A funny thing is that when I type greys and double space for a full stop, it automatically adds anatomy. Ha!

I'm now up to season 14 - i do think I was premature in my opening post as there are still loads of good seasons / episodes post season 6 (although I do think those were the glory days!).

I’m up to series 15 watching with my teen. I am still enjoying it but not looking forward to Karev leaving and the awful covid series.

I just don't see Owen as the sex god/fabulous all rounder that he's meant to be.

Amelia and Maggie drive me demented.

The final nail though was the Covid series. I've never wished so hard for a Tsunami to hit a beach.

I agree. The Covid series. Ha! So unrealistic. As if that would happen 🙄

DD and I are rewatching it now. Seattle Grace and Mercy West have just merged.

I finished my re watch and really struggled through season 16 onwards. Got me it absolutely goes downhill once Cristina leaves though is manageable until Alex’s ridiculous departure.

I also watched season 19 for the first time and that isn’t as bad as S17 &18. It’s not early Grey’s by any measure but not as bad.

I am on an umpteenth rewatch-it’s my comfort blanket! I will rewatch all episodes apart from the singing one. I can’t, just cannot do it.

Only today did I rewatch the scene with Derek and all of his ladies in the lift - Mark’s reaction is Oscar worthy.🤣

i tried with Station 19 but found the main character unbearably annoying (Andy is it?) Does she get better?

another serial re-watcher here. It really is my comfort blanket.

my conclusion from this rewatch is that maggie is not only the most incredibly annoying character but utterly unconvincing as a top flight surgeon. The number of times she is screeching and whining IN SURGERY just beggars belief.

I’m watching it for the very first time and am only on Season 4 but my God - am I meant to like Meredith and Derek (together or separately)?? Together they are toxic, with non-existent chemistry, and Meredith herself is awful! But I love love love Bailey and Alex and the easy viewing nature of it so am sticking with it 😂 Was just surprised because I’d heard so much about it and had expected this really compelling romance at the centre of it and the two of them are just beyond tedious!
