Starting now - BBC1

OP posts:

But Jodie's acting is not really up to it is it? Connie could act.
I know she has the raw material for Nancy but I think it's too larger than life, the hugely widened eyes! Just too much, not enough subtlety, despite some great ballad singing - that's not the same as acting on a stage properly imho!!

I know what you mean about Rachel but she could actually do it, acting, stamina, voice, overall performance and they could make her look it more. She's a pro and it shows. So is Sarah but she'd be better as a female orphan!

mrsshackleton · 21/04/2008 14:46

Ashley should calm down on the fake tan, orange face with orange hair = bad look
She can't sing either and should have gone, though Francesca never stood a chance in hell either, she was so tuneless, I find the fact she's a professional a bit worrying
Jodie should be singing in a pub. I'm with everyone who doesn't get her. Her voice is nothing special and she's watched too many reality shows hence all the shrieking and palpitating when she stays in
Niamh is gorgeous and charismatic, but I don't know if she can act. I think she'd make a very interesting Nancy, but possibly too young. Her sister was the spit of Samantha Cameron
Keisha just ain't up to it, either vocally or emotionally. She and Ashley are the next two to go
Sarah would make a brilliant munchkin. Poor thing, she tries so hard and is very good but she just doesn't look right and never will without leg extensions
Rachel probably should win, she's the safest choice all round

Muuuuuuuuum · 21/04/2008 14:50

don't really watch it - have only seen snippets. Surely there isn't really a contestant called Cleopatra is there!

i do thing Andrew Lloyd Webber looks like a toad.

tortoiseSHELL · 21/04/2008 14:54

Hmm...

Jodie - don't like her - think she would look wrong on stage with the rest of the company
Niamh - too young, voice not really strong enough
Samantha - I like her - I think her voice is really good, and she seems a very strong personality
Rachel - very polished (she is pro), and probably could do it but her performances are always safe not gripping
Jessie - great energy, but lopsided mouth annoying
Ashley - looks right I think, but voice doesn't have much colour in it
Keisha - isn't comfortable on stage I don't think - her best week was the first week
Sarah - too small! And I also think she is too 'sweet' to be Nancy

I thought Francesca was too mannered, so was probably the right decision to send her home.

tortoiseSHELL · 21/04/2008 14:56

So, out of all of them I think it should be Samantha, Rachel or Jessie - would prefer it not to be Rachel, as I think that wouldn't bring anything new to the role (she says pretentiously), can't choose between Samantha and Jessie.

Does anyone else think the Lord is smitten by Samantha? He LOVES her! And his comment 'Sammy, I knew you had it in you'. And when JB was criticising her the previous week or two he really stuck up for her saying 'she's 17, she will grow so much through this competition'...rather than 'she's too young atm'.

EffiePerine · 21/04/2008 15:04

I like Sarah, even if she is a midget . Jessie has improved a lot but am still not sure. I like Jodie, but voice not that great. Niamh has a lovely voice as well...

Ashley does NOT have a good voice and I would have had her booted off before now.

bluesky · 21/04/2008 16:19

I think they are working on Samantha subtly, changing our perception of her, the Lord definitely sees something in her.

Niamh will end up doing something, she is amazing, I can't believe she is only 17.

MargaretMountford · 21/04/2008 16:32

think you are spot on there bluesky

slayerette · 21/04/2008 17:33

Interesting, bluesky - did JB work with anyone else last week or was it just her that he was giving coaching to? Clearly they're pushing for her to go a long way in the competition.

ipanemagirl · 21/04/2008 18:42

Lots of good points being made here!

Niamh is a star in my book, whether she gets it or not, she is just gorgeous, can't really see her being Nancy though!

But the PERVING of Barry Humphries - unattractive perving from the old dyed ham.

MargaretMountford · 21/04/2008 18:43

I always feel anxious that he is going to say something very embarrassing

ipanemagirl · 21/04/2008 18:45

I know, it's like: Live Dirty Old Man About To Speak Smut At Girls Old Enough To Be His Greatgrandaughters.....
And it's the younguns he really likes!!!!
yuck.

bluesky · 21/04/2008 19:49

RTKangaMummy · 22/04/2008 11:15

ipanemagirl · 22/04/2008 11:19

found it!

bluesky · 22/04/2008 12:34

the tickets went for sale on Monday 7th, I phoned on Wednesday 9th to get 7 Saturday matinee tickets, and they had all gone!! They said to try again when the next batch are announced, ie June!!

So I phoned back to try and get a Fri night matinee. They offered me one the day after Boxing Day I think, which I can't do, and instead i have got May 2009!!! And that is with 5 of us together and 2 exactly behind us.

They have sold £3 million+ in advance tickets already.

They've sent me the tickets already, so I have to keep them safe for 13 months ..... but most of all be able to find them again next May!

bluesky · 22/04/2008 12:35

Sorry meant to say the tickets gone for first 6 month selling period which is Dec-June 2009, don't know when they announce the next batch June 09-Dec 09.
