OP posts:

noooo don't want Niamh to go!! I will definitely cry then! Have been teary each week, even when Ashley went because Jodie was tearful. I love it when they stand on those stairs and belt out "as long as 'e neeeeeds meeeeeee"

Zebedeedoodah · 12/05/2008 14:34

Oooh the tears! Still, it's nowhere near as bad as the Josephs!!!!

MummyPenguin · 12/05/2008 20:24

I meant to say earlier, I really liked the Olivers this week. I haven't really rated them before tbh. I liked their Bugsy routine and I thought Laurence was very good when he was leading with Niamh in the Chitty routine.

I didn't watch the Joseph or Maria programmes, so IDA is a new experience for me in these types of programme and I've been hooked.

singersgirl · 12/05/2008 20:28

Me too, MummyPenguin. We've only watched the last 4 weeks, but I view Dr Who as a penance I have to get through before my reward - lots of heaving bosoms, overacting and generous tears.

MargaretMountford · 12/05/2008 20:33

I love the double bill of Dr Who followed by IDA

mrsshackleton · 12/05/2008 20:47

I LOVE as long as 'e needs meeeeee ....
You can just imagine them all practising with their hairdryers, praying they won't have to do it until the final show when they emerge the triumphant winner. their hammy performances are so comical yet have to admit the also brings a tear to my eye (unless it's Ashley in which case I was whooping and shouting "gerroff you untalented besom"
Thought age vs youth was brilliant, it totally showed up that the three youngsters are the most talented. the so-called oldies looked so lumpen beside them - truth is if you've been plugging away for years a la Francesca, Rachel, Sarah, Jodie etc and haven't had your big break it's probably because you're not ... very good!

Jazzicatz · 12/05/2008 20:53

Just had to share that Harry goes to my son's school!

RosaLuxembourg · 12/05/2008 20:55

Snap MummyPenguin - my DDs are already calling it the curse of the Olivers. Who will be next?

Twinklemegan · 12/05/2008 21:00

What's all this about Ashley singing better in the sing-off? At least Niamh sung in tune.

RosaLuxembourg · 12/05/2008 21:02

I liked Niamh better in the sing off too. Ashley was v cruise ship, and not one of the better cruise lines either.

Twinklemegan · 12/05/2008 21:04

Or should that be sang? I don't know, it's been a long day.

MrsShackleton - shouldn't that be "as lorng as 'aaaaay naaaayds maaaay"? Is it just me, or are the rejects over-cockneying more and more each week?!

tortoiseSHELL · 12/05/2008 21:06

I thought the trios really showed up the oldies as well - the young ones had some good dance moves, the older ones just tried to look sensual and, well, failed...

RosaLuxembourg · 12/05/2008 21:44

To be fair the oldies were given AWFUL outfits to wear.

tortoiseSHELL · 12/05/2008 23:01

Rachel was so pissed off at being described as 'old'. She was spitting. The more I see of her, the more I dislike her.

Scotia · 12/05/2008 23:09

Interesting, don't you think, that Andrew Lloyd Webber was such an utter twat to Ashley week after week, and yet he took her aside after the results show to tell her he will be calling her this week to offer her a part.

Or maybe it's just me that finds that strange.

tortoiseSHELL · 12/05/2008 23:16

really??? where did you hear that????

TeenyTinyTorya · 13/05/2008 01:55

I thought that was a bit strange as well, Scotia.

I think Jodie is very good, but I don't know if she could handle the role as she is untrained. Although Rachel is pro, I don't think she's very exciting, and Niamh is too pretty pretty and young. Samantha - slowly warming to her, but I think she's too young as well. Jessie is incredible. Very glad Ashley went, I really don't like her.

I love this programme - although a lot of other actors are a bit pissed off at a reality tv programme taking their jobs, I still love it! I don't work in musical theatre, so it doesn't affect me . The overall standard is a lot lower than in the previous two years, but at least there's a bit of competition this time.

Tippychick · 13/05/2008 08:54

MM - I don't get who your namesake is. Are you the scary deputy Alan Sugar lady?

Andrew LW seems to have offered everyone a part so far or have been rumoured to in any case. Though as the most witless Josephs seems to be working in the West End maybe there's truth in it!

MargaretMountford · 13/05/2008 10:16

yes, am MM in honour of S'ralan's right hand woman

Zebedeedoodah · 13/05/2008 11:14

I just think Rachel's getting grumpier and grumpier every week as she realises maybe it's not quite such a shoe-in for her after all.

mumdebump · 13/05/2008 11:24

a bit off-topic but can someone of an Irish persuasion please explain why Niamh is pronounced Neeve. (Liam isn't pronounced Leeve - or is it?).

Tippychick · 13/05/2008 11:51

I lived in Ireland for years but I don't know why as such. It was a minefield for me, I was temping in Reception jobs when I first lived there and names like Niamh and Grainne floored me every time. There was some creative spelling alright! But Liam doesn't have the h on the end, mh is pronounced V .So a name like Caoimhe is pronounced Kwee-ve.
Or that's my interpretation of it anyway, maybe everyone was just to polite to tell me I was wrong all those years

tortoiseSHELL · 13/05/2008 13:35

I think Rachel thought she would walk it, as Connie and Lee did (both with pro experience) but I don't think they want a pro - I think they want a final of Niamh, Samantha and Jessie.

TortoiseSHELL, re ALW offering Ashley work, she said so herself on BBC Breakfast show yesterday. She did say it might be a bus he will offer her though

I like her, although she wasn't the best singer on the show, I don't think she deserved the absolute vitriol spat at her by those on the show and on other forums. If ALW didn't 'rate her voice' he shouldn't have put ther through to the live finals.
