OP posts:

And what was with that 'cutesy' voice tonight?

RosaLuxembourg · 03/05/2008 23:40

No I loathe her and hope she goes tomorrow. I am not terribly keen on Rachel either, she seems a bit slick and polished to be Nancy, but I thought they all performed well tonight except Ashley, who I hereby nominate for Miss Cruise Ship 2008.

lisad123 · 03/05/2008 23:42

I love Jodie, hope she wins, although they all did well tonight apart from Ashley

Theresa · 04/05/2008 07:22

Cantsleepwontsleep - the bbc (probably quite rightly) decided they coujldnt put young boys thru the public vote thing every week. They need 3 to do different nights as they cant work long hours because of their age. They are picking 6 to go thru to the semi final (I think), i each week so they all keep appearing each week hoping they'll get picked. I assume after they'e picked the 6 (not sure how many there are at the moment) the other 6 will leave and then they;ll somehow narrow the final 6 down to three. I think its q uite a nice way of doing it for the young ones

seeker · 04/05/2008 07:32

dd is on a school trip this weekend, and she begged and begged that we wouldn't watch it without her and save it to watch together on iplayer on Monday night. So I've got to wait til then!

posieflump · 04/05/2008 07:39

I hope it is Ashley and Jodie in the bottom two, don't think either of them are anything more than cabaret

seeker · 04/05/2008 07:56

You should see my 7 year old ds do his impersonation of Jodie's heaving bosoms when she gets told she's in again for another week -but when he was in Year 1 he made a model room entirely furnished in gold and he loves the Wizard of Oz, so I suspect my old age will be spent holidaying in Sitges. I look forward to it!

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/05/2008 08:01

Thanks Theresa - that was one possibilty I had considered (although hadn't thought about the reasons behind it). I think that there are 12 at the moment, so cutting it in half would seem sensible.

I think that Ashley and maybe Sarah will be the bottom 2 this week. I couldn't help but compare Sarah's performance of Mr BoJangles to the one that Sam did on Pop Idol a few years ago, and since that was one of my fav PI performances ever, she didn't compare favourably, even though her performance was probably quite good.

jalopy · 04/05/2008 08:22

Thought Samantha and Jessie were the best this week.

Sarah is toooo sugary sweet. Can't see any differences in her performances.

Ashley was the weakest. Don't like her sneering expression.

lisad123 · 04/05/2008 09:18

from what I rememeber there are 2 places left for olivers, think they are putting though 8, and then Andrew LW will pick 3. Think its nice, got to be hard.

ipanemagirl · 04/05/2008 10:56

We loved Jessie this week, and my loyalty to Niamh is waning, she is wonderful but not a strong enough actress imo. But Jessie will need to learn not to move/stand like a bloke! Beautiful but just not right.
I thought she seemed really nervous in the first half her song this week.

ipanemagirl · 04/05/2008 10:57

Beautiful but just not right.
I thought she seemed really nervous in the first half her song this week.
Sorry this is about Niamh not Jessie!

How seriously am I taking this?????

Piffle · 04/05/2008 11:45

kwayzeda is head and shoulders above the other olivers. He has x factor and whether wins this or not. He is superstar in the making imvho.
Ashley must go...

mumdebump · 04/05/2008 12:10

I couldn't hear Kwayzeda's voice at all in the group number though when he was singing with the other boy, Piffle. All the boys would be good so not at all caring who gets the parts.

Agree about Ashley, what was with that awful accent? Total cheeseville. She should go.

Don't get Niamh at all. DVO got it right last week when she said Niamh was 'marking' her number. She just doesn't throw herself into the part, seems very self-conscious and gauche as did Jessie until this week. It's an age thing I guess.

Sam can't sing and dance at the same time. Couldn't hear half her words. Thought the panel would have commented on that, given their usual obsession about diction.

Jessie was amazing this week (so Judy Garland as opposed to Bonnie Langford who she normally reminds me of), but then she didn't have to move much. Would need to see her again in a more choreographed routine.

Sarah was nothing special this week. She just didn't get the song. (Listen to the Nina Simone version, it will make you cry!) Shame as I really liked her last week.

Rachel was professional as ever. Miss Consistency. Think she may win.

Jodie v good and made sense of the song, which I never really thought about before. Probably most Nancyish of all the girls.

ipanemagirl · 04/05/2008 12:37

Ashley was horrendous, realistically it should be Niamh and Ashley this week for sing off.

Sam must have a lot of presence or her sex appeal is blinding them!

Dame Edna - what a PERVE this week.

Rachel really could do it I think unless they think they have the time to make Jessie move like a woman.

jingleyjen · 04/05/2008 19:27

So a friend was trying to vite for Jodie last nitght and she was told that she had already left the show..
What is that all about

ja9 · 04/05/2008 19:30

what's going on????????????

jingleyjen · 04/05/2008 19:35

Sarah really is great, I think she would make a brilliant maria for the other show

mazzystar · 04/05/2008 19:39

sarah is obviously a lovely person, but i kept finding myself cringing when she tried to be sexy or sassy - i think alw made the right decision

unknownrebelbang · 04/05/2008 19:40

Sarah would be great as Mary Poppins.

Sarah is just too smiley to be Nancy - even when she is being 'emotional' she's still smiling. Rachel is too professional - too polished imo.

Think was a bit rich saying 'Rachel was solid' - if he wanted someone solid, they could have auditioned in the usual way...ie in the theatre with an advert....they'd have got lots of Rachels auditioning - they claimed they wanted 'raw' talent!

mazzystar · 04/05/2008 20:37

got to disagree tortoiseshell - rachel was really edgy and raw in the earlier stuff - yes she's a pro, but she had loads of attitude. she hasn't been given the range of material others have. actually sam also mainly gets given shouty numbers - last night excepted.

tortoiseSHELL · 04/05/2008 20:45

I still think she comes across as 'calculated' - personal opinion I guess - but she seems very 'this is the way you do this emotion on stage' rather than being overtaken by the emotions, and having them burst out of her.

I also don't think 'raw' means 'emotional' or 'edgy' - I think raw means 'yet to be shaped' - and Rachel is the finished article. She is a very good actress, but I don't think she would be a very exciting Nancy - she would do the job perfectly fine, but wouldn't bring something fresh and new to the role. In my opinion!

collision · 04/05/2008 20:48

I think the public might not warm to Rachel because she comes across as self assured and confident and the public dont always like that.

I would like Rachel to win. I did like Jodie but fear she is a little to over dramatic and very 'Blackpool' and she embarrasses me.

Was very shocked by who was in the singoff and I cant stand Jessie and her wonky mouth!
