See you tomorrow!

LaMarschallin · 07/12/2023 21:01

At least Rasmus was really calm and pleasant - I thought he was going to be shouty and terrifying

Serial killers tend to be like that.
one more dance ladies. See ya tomoz.

littlbrowndog · 07/12/2023 21:04

Travelling will miss it 😏😏

Shortkiwi · 07/12/2023 21:14

Didn’t enjoy that - had my head buried in my phone for most of it as just wasn’t interested. Didn’t like the wankery and the black gloves 😂 Not impressed that Marcus and co were sycophants. Style over substance is very much an understatement. Would have to be paid to go to that restaurant.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 07/12/2023 21:35

That was the biggest pile of wanky bollocks I think I've ever seen on Masterchef.
And there's been some stiff competition

WillowTit · 07/12/2023 21:54

Yes I was also reminded of The Menu

viques · 07/12/2023 21:54

BIWI · 07/12/2023 20:34

Do you think they do chips?

What sort of chips? Microchips, probably, decent triple cooked crispy ones with plenty of salt and vinegar, unlikely.

Shangrilalala · 07/12/2023 22:02

I just hope that tomorrow they’re not expected to incorporate the ‘skills’ learnt in that load of tripe. Imagine at the most important stage of the competition, having to ditch classical perfection for ‘bravery’. Such a let down.

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 07/12/2023 23:11

Caught up on last couple of days. Today was just wanky, I didn’t actually bother watching after they made their own dishes. Don’t think I’ll be around live tomorrow- hope is just straight cooking.

longtompot · 07/12/2023 23:23

Let me show you Derelicte. It is a fashion, a way of life inspired by the very homeless, the vagrants, the crack whores that make this wonderful city so unique.

All that ^ but in food.

Hoping for some food in the final 🥘

That's exactly what I was thinking.

ilovesooty · 08/12/2023 01:47

I'm a bit afraid to go to sleep. I still feel a bit traumatised by those eyeballs and that Hammer Horror kitchen.

Sandytoxic · 08/12/2023 08:52

Taking "biggest load of tripe on telly" to a whole new dimension!

At least tripe is edible.

BIWI · 08/12/2023 08:54

How did it come to this, though? That instead of going to a restaurant for a really good meal, you have to put up with performative art and be 'provoked' by the food you're served. And then pay gazillions for it! TBH I'd prefer a McDonalds - and I don't think I've ever said that.

I wonder who put up the investment for it?

Anisette · 08/12/2023 08:59

There's a massive business opportunity for a chippie next door to that restaurant. I bet it would do a roaring trade with hungry and disappointed diners desperate to eat something filling and normal.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 08/12/2023 09:20

The most expensive wine paired choice on their menu is £1715 per head
Thats obscene

Limer · 08/12/2023 10:19

To echo a PP - this is Emperor's New Clothes personified.

Rasmus going on about using all the bits that normally get thrown away - then throwing away anything that's not 100% perfect from the chefs.

gingercat02 · 08/12/2023 11:14

Posted in the old thread!
We only watched wanker chef as DH has man flu and needed to go to bed, I love a fine dining restaurant but that is just ridiculous. The chicken feet looked like they had had a pedicure!
Someone up thread mentioned Le Gavroche, that's my biggest regret that MRJ is closing it before I got to go 😢

Halsall · 08/12/2023 11:23

I caught up. My oh my oh my.

We thought we’d seen culinary wankery before. But, dear Chuffians, we were just on the nursery slopes. Octopus? Pah! Sweetbreads? You’re 'aving a larf!

I'm expecting suprême of appendix, colon churros and Islets of Langerhans three ways in the finals tonight. AT THE VERY LEAST. It’s what Rasmus would demand, innit?

RADIOOFF · 08/12/2023 13:54

I’m guessing anyone who found last night in Denmark quite fun isn’t welcome here? Grin

(I’m involved in the creative / performing arts - so it all seemed pretty normal to me. Try getting an R&D grant without at least three times that level of wankery in your application …)

Unusually there isn’t one particular contestant I’m rooting for. Heart sort of went out of it once Philippe was dumped. I guess I’d be most pleased for Kasae. Though Tom seems to want it most. The other one doesn’t need it.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 08/12/2023 13:59

God and I thought nothing could trump Man behind the curtain wanker on MCP and his food that looked like bin scrapings. What a lot of wanky bollocks that was last night, gave me the absolute boak

beetlebrain · 08/12/2023 14:57

Years ago I went to Gingerline Chambers of Flavour event. That was a combination of theatre/performance art/ dining. But the joy of it was that it was huge fun, not wanky, and the food was great. No windpipes, nostrils, udders or chicken feet involved. Dunno how the contestants kept a straight face. I think Kasae was winding us up when she produced a fried knob.

TisTheDarnSeason · 08/12/2023 16:29

It wasn't 'fun', though. I'm all for boundary-pushing, innovation and nose-to-tail cooking. But this was stiflingly serious, painfully pretentious and, by the expressions on the faces of everyone who actually ate something during that episode, didn't even taste particularly good!

beetlebrain · 08/12/2023 16:52

I agree. Alchemy more than a restaurant but joyless and wanky. Gingerline more than a restaurant but lighthearted and fun. And actual food served. No windpipes.
