That garden didn’t look any bigger than some of the ones Phil showed them . I don’t like that house at all it’s really bland , those rooms could be in any house , anywhere .

DeadBugMountainClimber · 17/11/2023 19:25

It definitely doesn’t live up to expectations after all their rhapsodising on the show

LadyEloise1 · 17/11/2023 20:00

On programmes such as Love It or List It and George Clarke's Old House we've heard that the cost of labour and materials have risen exponentially so that couple won't make the killing they did in their former home.
They were very dismissive of the houses shown to them.
The last one appeared ideal. Extra income now if let and then available to the children later when needed.
On the street they love !!!
If I were K or P I'd be pi*sed off but I suppose garnering controversy increases tv ratings.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/11/2023 20:03

Thank you. House looks nice - but insane price imo

purpleme12 · 18/11/2023 22:45

I really loved the last house that Kirsty showed the couple with less money.

I really didn't like the couple with loads of money.
And I never say that about people on this show.
I didn't want to watch them!

martinisforeveryone · 19/11/2023 18:45

Thank you. I was so curious.

I've got experience in remodelling and building. This already looks dated to me and whoever designed it has a poor grasp of the working flow of layout. That property wouldn't work for me especially pushing the working kitchen into a windowless area. No sizes given on the floorplan but the balance is all wrong with one very long space and lots of little ones.

That said, they spent a lot on it and it obviously did work for them. They appear to have made a tidy profit when they sold, but how much over and above the market price for untouched, is an unknown. I think they'd struggle to do the same over again, especially given their requirements in that area. The garden comments were so strange, given what they had before. Looks very much like they'd have been much better off staying put.

I say all of that not to bitch about the people, but as an objective critique of the property situation. The house sold though, so obviously someone disagrees unless they have deep enough pockets to start renovating again.

I'm another one who was transfixed by the Dad and his sons. They were like a set of Russian Matryoshka dolls. I had to do a double take a couple of times.

E5 tonight

And a bloody catch up.

Whyyyyyyyyyy ffs

OP posts:
LadyEloise1 · 22/11/2023 23:24

I didn't mind the catch up as I didn't see the originals.

Turmerictolly · 23/11/2023 07:58

Catch up from years ago! Both now have really nice homes.

LadyEloise1 · 23/11/2023 09:23

I was hoping single guy might have met someone in the intervening years and settled down.
Especially when he mentioned the "Romeo and Juliet balcony" aspect during Covid.
An old romantic me Smile

FrenchandSaunders · 23/11/2023 09:36

Me too, he was a sweetie.
Wasn't sure about the other fella, surprised to see they were still together to be honest.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/11/2023 09:55

Catch up are mainly the old programme with mainly 10extra /new stuff

OP posts:
DeadBugMountainClimber · 23/11/2023 13:05

I’m just on catch up again, I never see these live. I remember the couple but not the single guy. What a great job he has, working with the collections in the Ashmolean.

daffodilandtulip · 30/11/2023 20:17

Was it not on last night? Just settled down to catch up and 5 is the last one 🤨

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2023 20:26

Think it's repeated e1 according to guide ffs

So we had 4 new episodes then a catch up now a repeat

Hardly a new series

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 30/11/2023 20:55

I don't know why anyone expects anything different with this 🤣

LadyEloise1 · 01/12/2023 08:14

Another repeat !
I thought there was a whole new series ???
What's going on Channel 4 ?

LadyBird1973 · 01/12/2023 08:17

Maybe filming has been affected by Phil's sad news. I'd give Ch4 a pass on this one

Yes I assume that's why there is a repeat (rather than a recap) -voice over /final edits taking a break for a bit.

purpleme12 · 01/12/2023 08:51

Honestly it's not a new thing, them doing this.
I know the same thing happened when the last series was on.
Possibly the one before that as well
