I really didn't like Amy. Something about her gave me really 'off' vibes. And I thought the house she dismissed as not being beautiful was absolutely gorgeous. I think what annoyed me was that she is so lucky to be able to afford a £1 million house yet seemed so dismissive of something that most people should be over the moon to afford!
Also, not sure about ex husband relocating as well. There's a story there, I suspect

I felt the same Shock
Re Amy herself and her attitude to the first house.
I thought the first house was gorgeous but it was dismissed out of hand - no kerb appeal. I thought it had loads of kerb appeal and was lovely inside too and felt sad for the owners whose house was being dissed.
But she was comparing it to the one she eventually bought which was in another league in certain aspects.

How much would a new thatch cost on that house ?

purpleme12 · 27/10/2023 16:25

There are loads of people on this programme who dismiss houses cos of no kerb appeal though.
That's not unique to her

LadyBird1973 · 27/10/2023 17:21

A lot of these programmes are about the personalities of the house hunters - I just didn't warm to her. I think a lot of people on these shows don't fully appreciate how lucky they are and can be a bit sniffy about some lovely houses.

LadyBird1973 · 27/10/2023 17:24

I wasn't so keen on the thatched one because I think the roof needs replacing and that would stress me out to have to do that every so often.
And it was near the top of her budget which would also worry me. But she loved it and I think that coloured her view of everything else she saw.

DH commented that the young couple look like a pair who will need a property in easy reach of their church…

The ones that K&P showed them were all rubbish. That last one with the pitched roof was unliveably awful.

43ontherocksporfavor · 02/11/2023 07:35

Yeah that slopey bedroom would be a great storage cupboard! 😂

LadyEloise1 · 02/11/2023 08:21

I would have liked to have seen the 2 storey maisonette they bought.

UglyModernWindows · 02/11/2023 10:16

If I was buying a flat on my own, I would have loved the top floor flat with slopey ceilings. So cosy 😍

DeadBugMountainClimber · 02/11/2023 10:55

I watched ep1 on catch up last night. I totally agree re the local family, totally lovely and how in love were they?! Still mooning over each other after 20 odd years, very sweet without being nauseating. I hope they're really happy in their new home.

The big budget house Amy chose was beautiful in principle but looked out of place from the drone shot, it looked like the remaining period home in a sea of red brick bungalows (like the first house she looked at and didn't like). Probably the original landowner's house and the land was sold off to build the surrounding estate, but the house was listed so had to stay and now there's a beautiful Georgian, thatched, rendered house in a sea of practical mass construction tiled, red brick, post war housing. She definitely went for house over location there, despite her protestations. I know what people mean re her manner. She came across as quite abrupt, I don't necessarily mind that in an LLL house hunter. I'd rather they were honest about what they like than pussyfoot around or gush at every house when they have no intention of buying it. I don't think she was rude about any of the houses she didn't choose. I didn't personally like any of the LLL houses they showed her. The one she bought was the nicest imo, but I wouldn't have bought it in that location. As for her business, the prog said her app cut out paperwork for MH professionals, so it'll be an admin related thing and she'll likely have sold it to NHS trusts, local authorities and the like, probably on a licensing model so she can make pots of cash. Good luck to her.

I've got ep2 on in the background whilst I do some work, so I'll be back with my thoughts, in a bit Grin.

DeadBugMountainClimber · 02/11/2023 11:57

Ep2. I liked the house the yoga couple bought, it was nicely staged but looked like it would still be a great house when all the owners stuff had been removed. All the properties they were shown felt very similar though, is that the case in Maidenhead? It felt quite same-y this week.

The young couple were a bit of hopeless cause, weren't they? I get the sense that their budget was a bit short of reality and that's why K&P had a bit of an iffy shortlist. It was a bit of a tyre-kicking exercise.

daffodilandtulip · 02/11/2023 12:33

Ep 2. Kirsty's couple were hard work weren't they!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/11/2023 14:18

LadyEloise1 · 02/11/2023 16:53

That young couple looked very young Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/11/2023 17:53

I did wonder if mummy and daddy would have loved the places or they said no space /ceilings too low as she really like no 3 even tho her partner didn't

Who the fuck is "drawn to Bracknell"???

Bracknell to Fleet to Deepcut is a massive difference as well, they seemed a bit clueless in ignoring what they needed to be near (work, transport, family, friends) vs what they could afford.

I was shocked the owners of the £700k house just pulled it off the market for an asking price offer before the open day - surely you'd wait to see what else came up rather than accept the first offer from the first viewer?

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/11/2023 22:42

I did wonder that as well

Beautiful home. They wanted £700k. Was having open house. They could have easily said £725 and take off market

OP posts:
daffodilandtulip · 03/11/2023 08:12

I wonder if sellers feel pressured to do deals as it's for tv

LadyEloise1 · 03/11/2023 09:06

I couldn't believe the owners accepted £700,000 when they were having an open day.
A bidding war could have ensued.
Utterly daft decision.
Their estate agent wasn't very good allowing that to happen.

It wouldn't happen where I live.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/11/2023 19:26

E3 tonight

In Edinburgh they help rob and Maria who want a harmonious house

Whatever that is

Ans James and Lesley want a future proof pad
