The couple who's sold their dream house and we're looking for another massive property, we're really annoying. Tbh, they don't deserve to find one! That gorgeous house with the 2 mini homes in the garden was worth every penny of the asking price and they were too tight-fisted to pay it, despite it being exactly what they asked for and in their perfect street!

This is exactly why I didn’t think they were serious buyers .

CallieQ · 16/11/2023 01:14

Agree that woman was so annoying moaning on about the size of the garden, I couldn't work out why they sold their dream house in the first place

jay55 · 16/11/2023 05:50

I live in east london and was hoping they'd show a flat around here but this area is out of budget for the couple.
Glad they got somewhere. And totally understand crying over the price of a tiny house in East Ham.

I couldn't understand the other couple. I don't think they were genuine. They must have been anticipating a bigger house price crash.

ElleLeopine · 16/11/2023 06:00

That woman was unbelievable!

'I can see the end of the garden so it's too small' 🤔

FrenchandSaunders · 16/11/2023 06:58

@Cherrypie32 i think you’re spot on!

That’s what me and DH said last night. They were mad to sell the house they’d spent so much time and money on. Pure greed and it’s back fired.

£20K on rent 😳.

I agree they were mad to sell, but it wouldnt take long to rack up £20,000 in rent. 2/3 beds are £2k per month upwards round us at the moment, and I doubt they'd accept anything basic! They could have racked up £20k in a few months easily.

lollipoprainbow · 16/11/2023 09:09

Did anyone think Kirsty was a bit snippy with the young couple especially the female?!

Turmerictolly · 16/11/2023 09:13

Yes, I did. I was surprised she didn't say to them that widening their areas was the sensible solution particularly as they were talking about having children. The bars and restaurants and 'buzz' won't be so much of a priority then. At least they got a house but have paid handsomely for a bit of a grotty house in a grotty area (although I reckon this area will also gentrify so hopefully they'll add value).

I agree.
In the intro they said the woman is a stay at home Mum but perhaps her career is actually buying property, refurbing it and selling it on.
With shortages of materials and increased labour costs it's a different game now.
Their own house looked great.
Now they are living in a small rental property. Wasting money on rent when they have the option, unlike many, not to.

Dulra · 16/11/2023 11:32

I agree on the Emmerson Park couple, the amount they are wasting in rent is eye watering, I also don't think being chain free helps much at that end of th marker, things move a lot more slowly anyway. No idea why they sold before having somewhere else to but they are losing tens of thousands. When we were buying a couple of years ago the market was moving fast and my dh did feel we would be in a better position to sell first and see what happens but the idea terrified me, the though of being effectively homeless was not an option for me. The last property they viewed was well worth the money and they were imo going to regret it if they didn't try and secure it. The accommodation at the back was perfect for their older son or an air bnb earner. I also could not understand the garden piece they are looking in London surely if they want a huge garden they need to move to the home counties

mrsnjw · 16/11/2023 18:46
Shock £450k for East Ham, just wow! We bought our council house in Plaistow for £17k in 80s under the right to buy scheme. It's shocking now! I have no idea how my children will get in the property ladder unless we help them massively. I hope the young couple are happy in their new home. The other couple are searching for what probably doesn't exist.
daffodilandtulip · 16/11/2023 20:34

I know you can be fussy with £1.4m but dear me, they were fussy! You could even see Phil's face a couple of times.

DeadBugMountainClimber · 16/11/2023 20:51

DH is out so I’m settling in for ep4 on catch up. I don’t know E London/Essex borders, so the I don’t know how realistic their wish lists are.

Big budget couple.

House/Bungalow 1 - Essentially a £700k plot. I agree that the garden is too small. They didn’t strike me as too hard to please on that house. It wasn’t in the location they wanted and the garden wasn’t as big as they wanted, so it set a reasonable precedent for the next viewings.

House/Bungalow 2 - Hornchurch. Great garden. Lots of work in that house, plenty to do. Not posh enough location.

House 3 - Location just looked like a new build estate, I don’t get why it was ‘the dream’. That house was just a big executive box and the garden is too small, given what they said at house 1.

House 4 - Better street, not an exec estate. Looks great from the outside. Looks like it would be bang on for them. Just a bit tasty budget-wise. Surely this last house is perfect for them? Location is perfect. They could live in the annexe whilst doing building work and rent them later on as a source of income. They couldn’t afford it. Tyre kickers.

Totally agree that they shouldn’t have sold the ‘dream home’ unless they’d found a new project. It seems like the project they want, in the location they want, doesn’t exist at the price they want to pay.

Low budget couple

Flat 1 - Nice sized bedrooms and great sized, fairly private garden, for a flat but that kitchen/living/dining space is crammed in. Kirsty was rude to the woman when she said ‘in an ideal world’ the layout would be different and K responded ‘well we live in the real world’.

House 2 - Ugly as sin from the outside but probably quite energy efficient compared to the proper Victorian version. Annoying pokey rooms too.

House 3 - cute house, pleasant looking street. Needs updating, especially the kitchen and the downstairs bathroom. ‘Up & coming’ is that estate agent speak for rough as a badger’s arse?

The Forest Gate house they bought is ugly as heck but they seemed happy. Good luck to them.

I'd like to see what Natasha and Barry sold, because they're spending hand over fist on rent and can't seem to see anything that comes near their requirements.

Well I trawled Rightmove sold and found it. Bought for £440k and sold after nearly 9 years for £1,000,050.

I reckon they though they could do the same again but didn’t realise a lot of the increase was just the market rather than the work they did.

FrenchandSaunders · 17/11/2023 08:38

Wow that is some profit!

LadyEloise1 · 17/11/2023 14:10

@craniol have you a link to it ?
It looked great from the very quick glimpse we got of it at their intro.

jay55 · 17/11/2023 14:13

Suspect that nice house with the garden houses was out of reach at asking price, if they are a one income family, as that would be a lot of extra mortgage, especially with rates in the rise, even with that hefty profit.

DeadBugMountainClimber · 17/11/2023 15:23

Is it the BC Way one? Gosh, it’s a soulless place. Cold grey developer hell. Not a warm ‘dream family home’ at all!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/11/2023 16:40

Agree not serious buyers

The last house was lovely and well worth the money the sellers wanted

And somewhere for the oldest son to live if wanted some independence

Don't Jack and James look like daddy

Glad other couple got their house

But ouch at prices

Before and after of couples house they sold

omg that is exactly the sort of developed house I despise. So boring. It will date so quickly. No character.

craniol · 17/11/2023 16:58

It’s exactly the same inside as well. Totally bland. I was expecting something better.

Taylorscat · 17/11/2023 16:59

Yea I just found it as well. So DULL. There’s no skill there. That’s the market. And the garden is just grass.

jeez I’d rather be in my tiny quirky house anyway

Are these the same house? If so, it looks like it was knocked down and rebuilt from the ground up as it's so different!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/11/2023 17:14

Yes th is was the house they sold to go and rent for 20mths
