New BBC drama series follows on from the hugely successful, multi award-winning feature film of the same name

I HAVNT SEEN THE FILM SO NOT SURE IF WILL WATCH AS MAY NOT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME

Eight months after her mentor Andy Jones (Stephen Graham) suffered a heart attack, head chef Carly (Vinette Robinson) is battling to forge a name for new Dalston restaurant Point North alongside her old kitchen crew. We follow the team as the stresses of keeping the restaurant running bear down on them amidst a hospitality industry in crisis. With the pressure to draw in new, hungry customers and the financial squeeze to keep the business profitable, the team must find a way to manage their complicated personal lives whilst creating quality food day in, day out.

I aiways feel a bit angsty when people ignore stuff. Like a request then they go and chat

But in last episode I thought the friendship part was shown nicely, the support with the eyeshadow part and the obnoxious guy being nicer

Can’t recall many names

martinisforeveryone · 17/10/2023 16:40

@EasternStandard I put a bit of a character list together yesterday at 18.01

To me, Dean, the Maitre d' is a link between the kitchen and the restaurant floor, but definitely the person that the diners would expect to be in charge. He should ensure everything's running smoothly. He does the wait staff rotas and makes sure they're all doing what they should be. I guess I see the Maitre d' as a professional host.

Hmmm s4 was a lot less y stressful and thought ending was quite blasé

So will Andy co invest with Carly

Why did the investor fuck it up as restaurant was doing wells

Weddings could have worked out well

Nice to see Jamie back and telling him to take a break if needed

Flirty top chef def in Camille personal space and didn't like being told no

Practically none of them had an ok life outside of work . Shame about the ending , not sure if that leaves it open for another series or if that's the end of it .

I thought Carly undertook to do the wedding for some cash that was needed for Point North as the type of food they did wasn't as popular in the location as everyone thought it would be . It always looked full there though !

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/10/2023 17:53

She did the wedding as her investors friends ? And he said she was doing it

I vaguely knew it was to do with friends , probably missed a bit .🤐

BIWI · 23/10/2023 22:15

Oh was that it? Is it finished now?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/10/2023 10:19

Yes that's it

As I said a bit of an anti climax for e4

BIWI · 24/10/2023 11:06

Feels like the last episode is missing! Presumably leaving scope for another series?

(Although hopefully some happier episodes/endings!)

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 24/10/2023 11:08

Definitely an anticlimax but leaves wide open for another series. I got round to watching the film which helped.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/10/2023 19:26

Hoping for a s2

I loved it! Hats off to all working in hospitality. Hope there's a second series.
I didn't watch the film and followed it all fine. Has anyone watched the film since watching the series?

Aquarius1234 · 24/10/2023 23:40

Carly and Holly... so Carly isn't into men but was scared to go there. Plus all the kitchen closing drama.

martinisforeveryone · 28/10/2023 20:23

I finally got chance to watch the last episode today. There's clearly going to be another series with Stephen Graham featuring more, no?

I loved the free flowing script and dialogue and the interpersonal relationships between the characters. I loved the light and shade. Nick, the hero with the menu and more or less running the kitchen for the wedding scene, but also losing his shit and also overstepping with Camille because he didn't like being knocked back; the awkward dinner date that Carly had juxtaposed with her passionate interlude with Holly; the triumph of the wedding reception contrasting so sharply with Liam breaking the news of insolvency when Carly had remortgaged the flat.

We really do need to know what happens next.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/10/2023 22:02

Beautifully put @martinisforeveryone

Yes hope for s2 and more Stephen as he wasn't in it much but billed for it

Sure many way he's thinking as he would be in it lots

Just finished the season. Enjoyable but annoying, so many bad decisions from Carly and, well, everyone really. Did anyone else think that this restaurant deserved to fail?

LadyEloise1 · 30/10/2023 15:49

No I don't think it deserved to fail.
Carly wasn't a shouty chef and was so compassionate to her colleagues .

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2023 16:24

Def didn't deserve to fail

She tries hard

Had a crap investor /partner who made her working life hard

Just found the thread and came on to say I thought it was utterly brilliant.. the acting, directing, music. Really impressive all round. I have to know what happens to Point North. Please please get started on S2!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/11/2023 15:03
