Channel five with Tanya from Eastenders and a woman who looks a bit like Cheryl Cole
Couldn't see a thread for this

I just thought the strange bit was Laura seemingly being drawn to Emily.
It didn't ring true to me and I couldn't quite see it

I also think she understood why she had been so bitter to Laura, so didn't actually hate her

Twonewcats · 09/06/2023 11:56

She is SO like Cheryl Cole - I'm not sure what her real accent is, but there were definitely twangs of Geordie coming through at times

I also think she understood why she had been so bitter to Laura, so didn't actually hate her

I think she felt sorry for her and understood that she (Laura) wronged her and felt guilty.
But I believe the ending wasn't so much saying that, but rather trying to convey how she was inexplicably drawn to Emily. Which didn't ring true to me.

Anyway it's just my interpretation

Can you train to be a lawyer with a criminal record ? She also used illegal drugs and could have potentially killed Laura spiking her drinks and attempted to kill Rob too.

She said she waa training to be a lawyer. JJ said "Really?!" And she replied "No" then something like - I wouldn't want to be like you, or something and JJ did a wry giggle.

I'm surprised that Emily hasn't recognized Laura if they knew each other before , but maybe she is putting on that accent or dyed her hair. She bumped into her at the very start of episode one , probably just to see if Laura did recognize her or not. When she didn't , she then went on to see her at the school etc.
Someone has clearly drowned at some stage too. It's all linked , but maybe not as straight forwards as you first think

I'm in 2 minds about this. They were only intense pals on a holiday - I had lots of childhood holiday friends whom I definitely wouldn't recognise now.
HOWEVER, if we'd been involved in drowning someone then, yes, I'm sure they'd stick in my mind 😅

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 13:34

Laura clearly airbrushed it all under the carpet I suppose , the mum changed her name etc
Which can't have been easy to do!

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2023 14:05

Well that was ok. The usual cheesy 5 drama

So Catherine did kill the boy by accident

But then mum covered it up

But would an 8/10yr really forget killing a boy

Even tho mum kept saying it didn't happen. You weren't ever there

But

Then changes her name from Catherine to Laura

But somehow erases her memory of the incident happening

School. No way would a parents be allowed to free roam inside a primary school

A tidal safe guarding issue

So Catherine did get away with it as deleted the recording

Was the longest 15m in police getting there

FaceTime on Elliza iPad /kindle that was on the floor

Blind spot looks good. Prob be on end of June /July

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 15:03

How can you just change a child's name though ? She looked about eight or so at the time of the accident !
Maybe you can, but I don't know how you would do it easily

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 09/06/2023 15:05

You'd just do it by deed poll wouldn't you

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 15:11

I guess it's by deed poll and they must have moved away too I suppose so she could get used to her new first name

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 15:21

Maybe Emily will become a hot shot barrister and maybe change her name too , dye her hair blond and get revenge on Laura and Rob by framing them for something!
Or maybe we will never see any of them ever again ! Lol

Haven’t watched any further than the first episode but it’s the usual C5 budget nonsense, all exaggerated expressions and furtive glances.

A little tired of seeing JJ in another tacky series, playing the same old middle aged frump. Surely there are other actresses available.

purpleme12 · 09/06/2023 15:43

I have to say I can't believe they gave up Neighbours for these series they keep showing!
They are distinctly NOT better than Neighbours!

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2023 15:54

I do like ch5 dramas

Blondes yells PAULINE !!!!

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 15:59

Isn't neighbours coming back ?
I haven't watched it in years and years since 1990, but I read someone was making it again ? Might be wrong

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 16:00

That always have such lovely houses in these dramas, it's never a two up two down somewhere a bit rough!

Well it's coming back but not on channel 5, on Freevee.
Channel 5 dropped Neighbours apparently in favour of concentrating on British dramas ie ones like these we've been watching.
Well it's not been worth it so far going from the general consensus of the threads on these channel 5 dramas...

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 16:10

The one with Sheridan smith and Pauline with her curtain was funny !
This was the usual fare , oddly empty places and big beautifully done out schools. All filmed abroad ( Malta in this case) and the nice big houses
The Aussie one with charlie brooks ( Janine ) was ok too , but Riptide with JJ was awful
I can recommend Deadline on Netflix about a journalist, that wasn't too bad.

I mean for how popular and loved Neighbours was, I find these particular dramas a very strange and illogical replacement

JoanThursday1972 · 09/06/2023 16:30

Who's Pauline?

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 16:32

I did watch the last neighbours last year with the oddly quite Charlene ! Guy Pearce was fab though
Brought back memories of watching it in the 80s at 5.30 pm.
Dunno why I stopped watching it and Corrie
I'm trying to get back into that , a few old faces are there ( Sally , Gail etc )
I stayed loyal to Eastenders.
The ex actors from there often show up in these dramas

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 09/06/2023 16:32

She's from another channel 5 drama. Can't even remember the name 🤣

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 16:34

There was a drama with Sheridan smith on last year on five I think and Pauline was one of the characters who hid behind a curtain in her kitchen during the last episode ! It was bizarre
It was filmed in Poland or somewhere but pretending to be Manchester.
Can't recall the actual story , SS was a teacher

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 16:43

The drama with SS was called ' the teacher '

In all these dramas they have lovely big houses and then they have the baby in its cot sharing a room with the older sibling. No one would do that if they had space. Must be easier to film in one room (which is probably a studio anyway)
