hippi me too! omg!! i imagined what i wd do.... slurp a bit more manly-poured wine, then join him in the distance>?

or wait for him to come back to give me a (manly poured)top up??
I like KH - (i think i was a bit uptight circa 1981 too)

rantinghousewife · 08/02/2008 20:06

And was I the only one to notice that they mentioned Timothy Whites, I used to hate that shop, my mum was always dragging us in there.

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:06

BUT....... oh dear, it looked like mateus rose?

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:08

but actaully, NO,!! HOW appropriate.. mateus rose
KH had those 'stay up' stockings on that supposedly didn't need a suspender belt because they had horrible rubber rings around the tops, and ACTUALLY they didn't work

CountessDracula · 08/02/2008 20:08

I am wracking my brains to think what Timothy Whites was like..

(I thought it was a make of sanitary towel)

CountessDracula · 08/02/2008 20:08

They do work now (holdups) i always wear them!

hippipotami · 08/02/2008 20:09

That wine looked weird - sort of cloudy and frothy looking....

But hey, I'd still not complain

harpsichordcarrier · 08/02/2008 20:09

Timothy Whites was bought out by Boots TC and the two chains were merged and rationalised, so Boots stocked TW merchandise and then gradually closed them down
STAY AWAKE AT THE BACK THERE!

harpsichordcarrier · 08/02/2008 20:09

CD you are thinking of Dr Whites

rantinghousewife · 08/02/2008 20:10

Think it was a cooks shop, at least it used to sell pots and pans and cookie cutters. My mum once bought me one of those plastic minnie mouse straws from there, it was pink.

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:10

countess - do they really? perhaps i should revisit.....

rantinghousewife · 08/02/2008 20:11

Ah thank you HC, glad to see someone is 'with the program'

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:11

oh hell - Dr whites!!!!!!
pmsl
had forgotten about them/that/him til now!
Definitely the same vintage, too

harpsichordcarrier · 08/02/2008 20:12

my mum used to buy us the enormous ones with loops
we called them budgie hammocks

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:13

did they have loops, or something? That was def. before my time, i hasten to add......

hope KH wasn#t wearing a Dr Whites at the bar whilst being topped up lol

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 08/02/2008 20:13

The hair cut was a kind of long purdey, but the longer you grew your fringe the better.

Then it was known as an Oakley.

satine · 08/02/2008 20:14

Mmmmmmm.......Gene Hunt..........

I thought I'd hate Ashes to Ashes, because Life on Mars was so great and you just can't go back, but I'd forgotten about the sheer watchability of Gene. I'm reserving judgement about KH's character. Hopefully I'll warm to her in time. But I love the sexual chemistry.

I spent most of my formative years working with Gene Hunts - although I was the boss, I needed their advice and guidance to do my job, so I'm a complete sucker for that kind of bloke.

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:15

i def. remember the purdey. But i was too uncool to have one.
DO remember creating a 'flick' in school bogs, and glueing it in place with gallons of hairspray in time for double physics

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:16

satine, how intriguing!

CaptainUnderpants · 08/02/2008 20:21

Glennister with shorter hair yum yum

satine · 08/02/2008 20:21

Ha ha! At 26 or 27 I was the boss of lots of Gene Hunts who had been good coppers for years. And they had to do what I said...mwah hah hah...no, there was definitely a sexual frisson there as I needed their guidance, advice and protection but ultimately I was in charge. Very interesting....

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:25

satine, HOW wonderful!!

SugarSkyHigh · 08/02/2008 20:26

captain, i don't fancy him like that

i want the unreconstructed, older & wiser version in the camel coat

rantinghousewife · 08/02/2008 20:27

he's just so wonderfully craggy and manly.

Pan · 08/02/2008 20:27

intrigued enough to check your profile, satine - another Madeleine Payroux fan!! Not many of us around.
