Starting today - Howard's Way is showing every week day at 2pm on the Drama Channel.

That theme tune takes me right back to the eighties and Sunday evenings!!! I grew up in the Midlands so had no idea about half of the terms but loved it!

I’ve been away all week and cannot wait for a big Howard’s Way binge on Friday. Consortium! Victor Meldrew! Periplus Marine Boutique Fashion intrigue! Helicopters! Ken Masters! It’s the stuff of dreams!

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2023 23:00

I'm rushing ahead, bingeing on S2. Which means I'll have to wait for S3. Pah!

I'm just loving it all.

Redleaftea · 28/01/2023 21:12

Following! I've just got to ep12 and the seduction dance. What a treat.

Redleaftea · 28/01/2023 21:24

So far I think Ken Masters is the most eligible of the men. Must be the snake hips!

mum2jakie · 31/01/2023 16:40

I'm still a few episodes behind but had to post as this image disturbed me. Surely it's not normal for an adult son to kiss his mum on the lips like this? Urgh. No wonder Leo hasn't got a girlfriend yet and is trying to play happy families with Abby.

Yuck! That is very odd.

Love this thread and am really enjoying rewatching this series. Watched today's episode which is Lynn's wedding - the very best (ie worst!) of '80s fashions on display😂and don't get me started on the wedding dress and bridesmaid's dresses. Total cringe.

RaraRachael · 02/02/2023 11:57

It was the wedding headdresses that got me - some sort of headbands with beads bobbing and dangling from them.
I can't get over how voluminous all the clothes were. Yards and yards of material must have been used on each garment.

PrincessFiorimonde · 02/02/2023 12:13

I've been watching this too. I didn't watch it back in the 80s, but am quite enjoying the nostalgic feel. I think some of the acting is quite wooden, though (looking at you, Tom Howard).

They were extraordinary. Like horsey bridles.

The brown number Lynne wore could have made at least three adult outfits. I'm concerned every time they waft metres of fabric past naked flames.

My new pondering is whether Claud's ponytail is clip-on a la Rodney Trotter. And is he vaguely French given his name is Malcolm? So many questions.

RaraRachael · 02/02/2023 18:21

I thought of Rodney Trotter too when I was Cload's ponytail!

I believe the actor Malcolm Jamieson was actually Scottish. That's certainly the Scottish spelling rather than Jameson.

Thaf was a cracked of a jumper Tom was wearing. A sort of bluish grey number that looked like his granny had knitted but forgot to do the cable pattern half way 🤣

diddl · 03/02/2023 09:22

I've just watched the first episode.

The clothes!

Tom wanting Jan not to work-it's the 80s not the 50s!

Does anyone remember a series called Maelstrom shown around the same time with the actress who plays Avril?

I'm still scarred by Maelstrom 30 odd years later. It was terrifying, particularly when the dolls in the room start crying. Aaghhh!

Didn't realise it was the Avril actress though.

Not sure if she was the central character but as soon as I saw her as Avril it reminded me of Maelstrom.

It's on youtube!!!!

TwigTheWonderKid · 06/02/2023 16:38

Oh no, DH and I have binge watched the first two series! When are they going to put the next one on?

Yes I remembered that. She ended up being the "baddie" in it didn't she? And dying in a fire.

lieselotte · 06/02/2023 17:27

Oh and on the wedding dress: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p030rp1x

ChicCroissant · 06/02/2023 17:51

After seeing this thread, I have watched the first couple of episodes - I did watch it at the time, and I see it very differently now. As others have said, I also saw Ken Masters as a bit of a creepy character but he did offer Jan (and her son) a job straight away.

The first episode made me laugh as the sky was so dull and grey when they were sailing. They were probably hoping it was going to look glam.

dew141 · 06/02/2023 18:07

I still feel slightly dirty that Ken isn't a bad option all told. Although my heart remains with Consortium Charles despite his revolving door of women.

devildeepbluesea · 06/02/2023 18:23

I’m a few episodes behind real time but you lot have made me rush for my remote control to catch up! Haven’t laughed so much in ages!
“Action slacks”
”Periplus”
”Clod”
”Sashaying towards a naked flame”

Brilliant. Keep it up.

mum2jakie · 07/02/2023 15:50

Just caught up with yesterday's episode. Poor Clod! That was a short marriage wasn't it? Probably why I couldn't remember Lynn even getting married to him.

I'm watching on Play TV UK, is that where everyone else is watching it? When will there be more episodes?!

mum2jakie · 07/02/2023 19:52

I'm watching as the programmes are aired on Drama. The first episode of series three was shown today so presume that we will be available on Play pretty soon - maybe tomorrow if it runs a day behind?

@mum2jakie thank you so much! Not that I'm addicted, or anything! 😁
