Hello all GPTD fans the next series has been announced and will start on 8th January at 7:45. It’s a Sunday night and it’s on Channel 4 as usual.

Festive Pottery Throw Down is on Christmas Day too. James Fleet, Jamie Laing, Jenny Eclair and Sunetra Sarker are the celebrities taking part this year.

What did Siobhan do apart from give Fabiola a lot of support and snigger over a lighthouse?? Bring back Ellie she was fabulous.

Roussette · 09/01/2023 07:44

I think Siobhan is sweet but I do prefer Ellie as a presenter.

Maireas · 09/01/2023 08:59

This happened all last series, people's preference for Ellie. That's ok, people have preferences, but I think Siobhan is funny in a dry way and engages well with the contestants.

Definitely best to stay away from Rose's Twitter feed. But the programme is lovely to watch.

Piggywaspushed · 09/01/2023 18:47

Am all caught up!

It's like the casting agents scout around to find the most middle class people possible, isn't it?

It must be so intimidating to turn up as a layperson and be surrounded by artists, jewellers, art teachers, architects and structural engineers!

I loved the one for the grandad and the Aussie SIL. The painting we briefly saw of the grandad was so beautiful too,

elgreco · 09/01/2023 19:01

They all seem a bit too good this year, there used to be more of a mixed bunch. The start in the car was a bit weird.Really glad it's back though.

LaChatte · 09/01/2023 22:13

It's an expensive hobby, so not surprising they all seem a bit middle class!

Walkingtheplank · 10/01/2023 00:23

I saw Rose's Twitter yesterday and read some of it out to DH as we usually watch Throw Down together.
As I was reading it out I was thinking I wasnt sure I wanted to watch it anymore. DH turned round and said words to the effect that Channel 4 will know exactly what Rose said and still felt comfortable employing Rose, so he couldn't see how we could enjoy watching it.
A shame as it's lovely Sunday night viewing.

ArcaneWireless · 10/01/2023 01:04

Finally got to finish it.

My God - aren’t they all smashing?!

Worthy winner but a few could’ve done it and aye - I’d rather no-one went the first week.

The bit that yanked my heart strings was Helen’s plate with the two girls. It was joyous and heartfelt and nostalgic all at the same time. It just peeped my heart.

I am in sap mode though. 😊

I love James!! But for goodness sake Keith, stop crying. It really spoils it.

Crying Keef is TV gold. It’s why I watch.

That was incredibly impressive! Her glaze painting skills are just incredible.

Piggywaspushed · 10/01/2023 12:42

She's the retired primary teacher , isn't she? The younger Northern woman is a primary teacher. I am often in awe at how talented some primary teachers are at creative stuff.

Siobhan is an absolute gem, a proper good soul.
What a lovely bunch! I really like Helen and Fabiola - it's such a shame Vithu had to go, he was obviously a lovely guy.
This is such a lovely programme to watch.

It depends.

If there is a spaniel in the house one is just in front of the back door, next to ( or in the dog bowl), the other - well, it could be anywhere . . .

Emotionalsupportviper · 10/01/2023 15:36

Whoops - seem to have quoted the wrong post. This was in response to a response about missing socks.

tappinginto2023 · 10/01/2023 22:09

I used to love this prog. I also know one of the (lovely) contestants this year, and I think they will go all the way.

I'm sorry but Rose's online content is very disturbing and I have no idea why they are allowed to post things like that while in the public domain.

I'm so torn!

Ladybrrrd · 10/01/2023 22:36

I've been following some more potters from years gone by. Has anyone checked out Jodie Neale? (Winner previously).

Seriously impressive! Her 'Stella' porcelain vessels are just ace!

Saucery · 11/01/2023 07:06

Caught up with it last night. What a high standard! I think this will be an excellent series, perhaps with only technical failures to eliminate people.

I used to love it too. But now find Rose an annoying distraction, having seen her online content, to the extent I'll probably end up not watching it.

SoupDragon · 11/01/2023 08:03

I don't even notice Rose. It's not like she's a presenter, she's basically just in the background.

I caught up last night too. I'm not sure if the right person went home or not. I guess it was very close but he wouldn't have been my top pick.

Piggywaspushed · 11/01/2023 08:16

Everyone is free not to watch it and/or not look at Rose's online content. We're hardly in Andrew Tate territory.

A plea if you are not watching not to come on the thread and announce you aren't watching. That'd be grand. I've tried to ignore thus far but every other post is about Rose.

TheDutchHouse · 11/01/2023 08:20

I missed Sundays, very annoying as it's my fave thing to watch . Anyone know when it's repeated?

SoupDragon · 11/01/2023 08:25

I'm not sure when it's repeated - I watched it on the All 4 app though.

IntoTheDeepDark · 11/01/2023 09:17

Ugh the crying is making it so that I can't watch.

Emotionalsupportviper · 11/01/2023 09:30

I get a bit fed up of Keef weeping TBH @IntoTheDeepDark - it's like the Hollywood handshake; when it happens too pften it loses it's charm (not that Hollywood ever had any charm, but you know what I mean).

SoupDragon · 11/01/2023 09:35

I get way more fed up with the whinging about the crying (which he can't help) 😂😂 It makes me want to leave the thread.

The amount we see is entirely down to the editing of the footage. He can't help it.
