I am a constituent, and quite frankly he’s about as much use at present as he always was. I am still waiting for a reply from 2019 😂😂

That says it all really doesn't it?

OddsocksinmyDocs · 26/11/2022 22:22

Roussette · 26/11/2022 22:20

Because I have a similar MP.

Doesn't reply to emails and after 30 ,years without a constituency office or surgeries, he is now deciding to open one as he is running scared for votes in the next GE.

That's why.

My MP doesn't respond to emails either. He makes a public appearance when its close to voting time or he can get his face on the front page of the local paper. That's our MPs though - you can't blame Matt for the lack of work our MPs are doing!

Ironically it was a question about additional help for Dyslexic students during exams - which he would claim as a subject close to his heart as a fellow Dyslexic.

supertato32 · 26/11/2022 22:24

@sashagabadon he gave PPE contracts to his mates, who wasted billions. He didn't lock down care homes and killed thousands and his 'rules' have affected many, many people more than you will ever know! He should never have been Health Secretary, he's definitely more qualified to eat kangaroo dick than he is to run the health service! There is NO excuse for his double standards and bad decision making during the pandemic. I also don't understand why people think it's OK for a serving MP to take unauthorised time off work to go and fuck about on a reality TV show! This country deserves much better from its politicians. But seems so many have such low standards so we get the shit show we deserve!

Breakingpoint1961 · 26/11/2022 22:25

Personally, I think the majority of the voting public have kept him in, hoping he will think he's been 'forgiven' and will win, when actually, they've just given him a false sense of security. I really hope this is the case...

That said, he's hard to dislike.

He's done this for a reason, and one reason only..

supertato32 · 26/11/2022 22:25

@Shouldershoddy heartbreaking. I can't even imagine... I am so sorry xxx

tiggergoesbounce · 26/11/2022 22:25

I know all about the pandemic. I worked in ITU

weirdly… my colleagues like him too

That really surprises me as we are surrounded by generations of NHS staff and they wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.
I suppose its down to morals rather than job roles.

It was on his watch, hos decisions, hes part accountable.

A subject close to his heart when it wins him a few votes in the jungle.

There was a pub landlord mate of his who did an unprompted interview on LBC.

But surely it was the nhs making decisions to send old people back to their homes? And covid positive patients are still being sent home. A friend of mine had kidney disease, and was, sent home with covid. Two days later he was back in. He died from covid and he infected his wife. And this was earlier this year.

Shouldershoddy · 26/11/2022 22:29

I know all about the pandemic. I worked in ITU.

weirdly… my colleagues like him too.

because he’s not to blame. He was a fall guy that was told what to say. we are all intelligent people that are allowed to make our own decisions. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I know others in the NHS that broke lockdown rules. I know people in carehomes that broke lockdown rules.

You don’t like him - Fine.

Don’t dictate how others should feel about him, and don’t make judgements on those that do like him.

I worked in a care home and absolutely no one broke the rules ! We were all 100% committed to keeping our residents safe …having MH standing on the podium dishing out rules that he clearly ignored ie shagging his colleague .
I think your response is absolutely awful…!!!

sashagabadon · 26/11/2022 22:31

Or he was desperately trying to find ppe in a global market where demand was unprecedented and the French government ( the usual supplier) had stopped allowing ppe to be exported and everyone was going nuts in the media screaming for ppe and interviewing nhs staff and care home managers in tears as they didn’t have enough. I lived through the pandemic too and have drawn my own conclusions as to what happened and I worked in a hospital throughout and can remember tracking the ppe flight from Turkey on the news as it was so desperately needed.
I haven’t forgotten, I just don’t blame MH!

ODPintheNHS · 26/11/2022 22:32

@Shouldershoddy I’m not going to apologise for having an opinion.

🤷🏼‍♀️

I couldnt agree more with you. Disgusting.

abblie · 26/11/2022 22:33

Yip same here and his walk tonight on celebrity cyclone was outstanding 👏

MarshaMelrose · 26/11/2022 22:34

What was the point of the interview? O'Brien had no interest in finding out the truth of what happened. None of us can judge accurately until everyone has been allowed to give a full account. Not just snippets controlled by a publicity obsessed dj looking for headlines.

abblie · 26/11/2022 22:34

IhateJan22 · 26/11/2022 21:58

I can’t abide Boy George yet something seem to be able to forget what he did? Matt Hancock tried to deal with an unprecedented pandemic the way they thought was right. Would anyone of got that right? Yes he cheated but I can’t dislike him like I do Boy George because at least he realises he did wrong.

I know how was boy George's kidnapping, assault and jail time swept under the carpet

ODPintheNHS · 26/11/2022 22:35

@sashagabadon Exactly what you said.

He also fought for the drug Orkambi to be on the NHS to help Children and Young Adults that are suffering from Cystic Fibrosis when he was health minister.

everyone just wants to see the negative.

Tekkentime · 26/11/2022 22:35

Spck · 26/11/2022 21:41

How easily the public are swayed - looks like his PR team have been right in advising him to do this.

And yet somehow you've been able to resist their master plan!

sashagabadon · 26/11/2022 22:36

And yes it was the senior nhs managers that advised the discharge of patients to care homes and there were no tests to give them. I remember a day at work when my trust carried out 50 tests and it was announced like a fantastic achievement. MH pushed for a rapid increase in testing capacity. He set the 100k target per day by end of April which did speed every thing along. He made mistakes but made good decisions too.
everyone has different experiences and different perspectives on what happened and what they think about it.

Hancocks voting record:

FOR the bedroom tax
FOR student tuition fees
FOR a reduction in welfare spending
FOR lower corporation tax
FOR selling the UK's forests
FOR the badger cull
AGAINST funding for domestic abuse victims
AGAINST free meals for schoolchildren
AGAINST measures to prevent climate change
AGAINST higher benefits for the disabled
AGAINST taxing bankers' bonuses
AGAINST higher taxes for banks
AGAINST higher taxes for the wealthy
AGAINST laws to promote equality
AGAINST laws to promote human rights

Yeah yeah yeah

BUT he's good at cleaning the dunny😁 so lets all vote for him... NOT

If ever Scotland needed another reason to vote for independence its this. Lets get the hell away from idiots who fall for this shite time and time again.

OddsocksinmyDocs · 26/11/2022 22:37

At the end of the day, Matt Hancock was making decisions based on evidence that was being given to him. He's no more of an expert than any of the Covid experts we see on this thread. NOBODY could have predicted how the pandemic panned out. Perhaps those slating him could try being an MP themselves?

Spck · 26/11/2022 22:38

@Tekkentime yeah basically.

Spck · 26/11/2022 22:39

@OddsocksinmyDocs we would have to be willing to give massive sums of taxpayers money to our mates so I’ll pass on that one.
