For the love of cheese - come on and vote mumsnet we cannot let Matt Hancock win I’m a celeb. He will be all over our tv about how the British public have forgiven him and this has been part of his redemption.

I bet IACGMOOH has never had so many votes for the final and no one pays for voting unless they are a fool

Voting's completely free, you get 5 free votes on the app.

So people are literally just voting for him to piss off other people who shut down debate by insulting others or belittling them?

The people who voted for him are not some sort of homogenous group. They'll have all sorts of reasons why they voted for him. Here are some but it's not an exhaustive list.

Why people voted for him:

  1. they felt sorry for him for how he was treated by the others when he went in there
  2. they were impressed by his ability with the tasks and liked his attitude how he just got on with things and didn't moan
  3. it played with the minds of the other contestants when they kept losing to him
  4. they didn't like being told by the media how they should vote
  5. they liked him
  6. they disliked him less than the others
  7. they liked seeing the Tory govt, leftwingers, tv presenters and the media all be confounded by his success
  8. they thought he did an OK job with the pandemic
  9. they didn't hold him personally responsible for the pandemic
  10. they got fed up of being belittled and insulted by others

1, 2, 4 and 9 for me

Yep...note@ssd

Breakingpoint1961 · 27/11/2022 16:19

This thread is so amusing, honestly..he has so much more exposure now, he's even the talk of Mumsnet😂

As I have said in a previous post, he comes across very affable and personable, hard to dislike. A lot (if not all) of the camp mates struggled with this I think, hard to ignore or exclude someone in such a small intimate setting, and, of course, they are all polite individuals.

He won't win, that was never his objective, though I think he's proving a winner on here😜

AndEverWhoKnew · 27/11/2022 11:43

Tbh I think the fact he has got this far just shows that I'm a Celeb can be fixed and manipulated.
The Tories have always used polls to try to influence opinion. I think they're now using reality tv in the same way. Hancock's pr team are working overtime placing fluff stories all across the tabloids. The Daily Mail columnists are tying themselves in knots trying to write favourable features about him.
But, social media, phone lines and Daily Mail columnists are not the general public. I don't know anyone in RL who is falling for this bullshit and yy I do know Tory voters, Labour voters, people who vote for every party. Everyone sees this nonsense for what it is.
All Hancock has managed to do is dent the 'credibility' of I'm a Celeb. It's cost the show quite a few high profile supporters of who used to tweet religiously to their 100s of 1000s of followers but who stopped watching when Hancock went in.

That is exactly how I see it, you've totally nailed it with that post

Likeable people can make bad decisions. The two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

ssd · 27/11/2022 18:48

Likeable? Are you still talking about Matt Hancock?? I bet you think Boris Johnson is just a cheeky chappie who people were nasty to..

Article in the Guardian today about the concerted effort his PR team have made on tiktok.

How easily the public are swayed - looks like his PR team have been right in advising him to do this.

I'm not on twitter and I'm not even in the UK, all I see is a contestant who is good at everything. I want Jill to win, but I am not buying that I'd been duped in to thinking he's ok.

Mike was good at everything.

WildFlowerBees · 27/11/2022 19:21

I'm not entirely convinced the whole thing isn't rigged.

Yes, Mike was good at everything too - he was also a l'il bit of a bitch though and people don't like that 😁

I mean what was that turning Matt's jumper over so you can't see the numbers?!
Matt was a knob for putting his number on display but he was only acting like a knob to himself, not to anyone else.
Mike turning it over was funny but a little petty 🤣

...is bollocks. Poor, desperate, deluded Guardian. 😂

I don’t think going on the show did Mike any favours at all.

Yeh he came across so dull. He still got his 500k though

Greenshake · 27/11/2022 19:47

…and I would imagine he needs it the least. I am willing to bet this would not have happened had the Queen been alive.

How do you know?

xJ0y · 27/11/2022 20:28

Does the winner get a bonus?

Breakingpoint1961 · 27/11/2022 20:54

None of the contestants need the money, they want the exposure. I would say Jill is the most down to earth, and has the least expectations, she's a very nice person.

I find it hard to believe MT did the show, I really can't fathom what his reasons were.

They will all earn well from it, not just the prize money, connections/networks are forged, it's all very contrived.

I wonder if Matt will start watching Hollyoaks, or pop by Jill's coffee shop? Of course not..he's not made (nor wanted to make) any friends from this.

MarshaMelrose · 27/11/2022 21:14

blackpearwhitelilies · 27/11/2022 20:20

Because I read it.

blackpearwhitelilies · 27/11/2022 21:18

Well it’s simply saying that his team made a concerted effort to get people to vote for him, which doesn’t seem too deluded. There’s lots of people on this thread who are intending to vote for him just to piss other people off.

I know several voting just because they like him in the jungle.
Nothing else at play, just that they like him.

Yeah, I read it. What's deluded is that a PR team could be that inept as only managing to get negative things written in the media. So they must be influencing through Tiktok. 🙄 So still no awareness from The Guardian that there are a host of reasons why people have voted for him and the only positive things written are by people on forums who've watched him. Unless you're going to buy into a conspiracy theory that all the people on here, for example, that have said positive things are his PR people. He was an MP. How many PR people do you think he can afford? 😁

Piss off who? People who couldn't visit relatives in hospital or care homes? Women who had to give birth alone? Hospital staff who didn't have ppe? Care home staff who were told there would be a ring of care around the home and had to watch residents die?

Yeah, vote for him and piss these people off. Fill your boots.

I have no intention of voting for him at all ssd. I agree with your sentiment entirely. But there have been quite a few posters on this thread saying that they intend to vote for him because they don’t want to be told not to.
