Taskmaster- just me?

anonacfr · 07/10/2022 23:15

To me this is the ultimate comfort TV.
Every season I miss the previous year's contestants and then end up loving it all over again.
This year the less well-known candidates (to me as well) have already won me over. And Dara O'Briain is like the exasperated yet optimistic supervising the chaos.
The question group task at the end of last episode had me crying.

one of my favourite tasks though is the shoes one from the last series.

"NO WAY!!!!"

😆

Incognito19 · 09/10/2022 06:55

@PickAChew how are you watching Taskmaster Croatia? I’ve tried googling and only get clips on YouTube?

PickAChew · 09/10/2022 12:43

DH finds it @Incognito19 - he found it uploaded to a Google drive, via reddit, in this case 😉

I loved that so much. Every time he said it so enthusiastically and in his accent it just cracked me up

Leakingroofagain · 09/10/2022 12:52

We let my 7yo watch it which is awful parenting but at least her vocab has expanded to knowing 'wanker' and the f word.

I'm sure they do a bleeped version too.
We all love it here.

Mooserp · 09/10/2022 16:43

I love it too. Really enjoyed Liza Tarbuck when she was on. And Bob Mortimer.

I recently went to the filming of an episode for the next series. The live task I saw was REALLY good, can't say any more 😶

PurpleWisteria · 09/10/2022 16:48

I love it. My favourite was Lisa (couldn't give a fuck) Tarbuck, followed by Jo (neither can I) Brand.

Rhod Gilbert was amazing in his awkwardness. I loved how hard Nish tried and still got nowhere.

SoupDragon · 09/10/2022 16:55

I came to this late and absolutely love it. It often has me crying with laughter.

I've only seen E1 of this series so I won't read the rest of this thread.

as a bonus, I have pretty much every other season to watch on All4!

They do and I knew about it but dh just went ahead and showed her the normal version. Actually it's been quite a good way to introduce her to swear words, explain them and the settings in which they should and shouldn't be used rather than assuming she's pure as the driven snow and never heard such things in the playground.

I love the show. Some contestants annoy me though. Victoria coren Mitchell I felt was just lazy with it, which is a shame because I love her usually.

nancyglancey · 09/10/2022 17:36

Lisa Tarbuck making Alex sit on the cake was my favourite episode. Not up to speed yet, on the social distance season.

AquaticSewingMachine · 09/10/2022 17:42

I once made the very bad mistake of googling "bubbly fuck" in the hopes of finding a gif of Nish from the candle task. Let's just say Nish did not feature in any of the results that came back.

We adore TM in this house; I think it peaked with S7 but every season has its tasks of genius. And S9 is a close second, particularly with the Baddiel/Gamble dynamic. 😉

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 09/10/2022 17:47

I love it (as you might be able to guess from my name). It’s so rewatchable too. The live task at the end of the most recent episode nearly saw me die laughing!

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 09/10/2022 17:49

Fave series was probably the knappet/godliman/Gilbert/acaster/wang one. So so good.

I would love to have that many Taskmaster series still to watch. You lucky, lucky person

LimeCheesecake · 09/10/2022 17:51

Oh god I love it! We have issues as our wedding anniversary this year is a big one, but it falls on a Thursday night…

after some thought it’ll be a posh takeaway to watch task master then out at the weekend.

HandlebarLadyTash · 09/10/2022 17:52

Love it, watch it with the primary age child

Veryverycalmnow · 09/10/2022 17:56

I love this programme and the accompanying podcast. I also loved the tasks that (little) Alex Horne set for the general public during lockdown- it kept me sane.

AlisonDonut · 09/10/2022 17:59

Bobshhh · 08/10/2022 00:07

Oh interesting! I thought the last two series have been lacklustre but this one is looking promising.

Absolutely love the early ones, nonplussed by the Iain and Lou sanders one / ambivalent towards ed gamble, big fan of the rhod Gilbert one and fell totally in love with Mike wozniak in his series!

Totally with you, could not enjoy the last one and only watched about 3 episodes.

I've seen each episode of all the other serieses several times now.

mumsneedwine · 09/10/2022 18:00

Best board game ever. Got my family (2 grown up kids & Hubbie) through lockdown. Nothing like running round the garden attempting to make a lifelike creature at midnight to help with stress. There's a new one out for Xmas.

marcopront · 09/10/2022 18:06

Does anyone know where you can watch the most recent series?
I'm not in the UK and it is not on YouTube

mrstea301 · 09/10/2022 18:10

I absolutely love it - doing a quiz for work soon and hoping to use some of the tasks from the board game for it!!

It just makes me laugh so much, proper feel good tv and a great way of finding out about comedians that you might not know about otherwise!

I got my 9yo DD watching the bleeped version. For weeks she would randomly shout No way! and I’d reply I’ve got to find the shoe! in my best Irish accent.

I love love LOVE Taskmaster. It’s hilarious. I love how different contestants approach things. Some just don’t even care about the points and some are so desperate to win. Favourite moments include “Rosalind’s a fucking nightmare”, Sally Phillips lobbing the jelly into the bin and the moment when Jo Brand and Bob Mortimer stop in the middle of a timed task to have a cuppa and a sandwich!

I starting watching when I had Covid and fell in love with Little Alex Horne 😊

Hellocatshome · 09/10/2022 18:15

I didnt know who Mike Wozniak was but he was hilarious on Taskmaster. The libe task at the end of the last episode was hilarious.

Dilbertian · 09/10/2022 18:29

JenniferBarkley · 07/10/2022 23:39

I adore it. My favourite task was Song For A Stranger, the sheer contrast between the first which was genuinely lovely and then the second "Rosalind Is A Fucking Nightmare" makes me giggle every time I think of it. Best thing on TV ATM.

Absolutely the first song was the genius song! But which is the one we remember? Grin

(I have a lovely but pedantic colleague called Rosalind. I bite my lip so much GrinGrin)
