Love love love this series

s8 - e1

The return of the programme where families from different socioeconomic rungs swap residences, spending plans, and daily routines for a week.

A life-changing experience for both parties occurs when millionaire property developer and lawyer Roy Ledgister swaps homes with a single mother. Becky Biggington.

Becky lives just 40 minutes away in a two-bed Sussex council house with her two young sons while Roy has a sizable Kent estate with a tennis court, swimming pool, and gym.

Is that really the rich guy’s house? How? He doesn’t seem very bright or old enough to have accumulated that wealth independently.

@countdowntonap It isn't his house but it is implied in the programme that it is his. He rents it.

Me and my daughter used to enjoy watching this. We got a bit fed up at the end of the last series and we tried this one but have given up.

purpleme12 · 29/08/2022 16:31

Oh I thought he owned it

ilovebrie8 · 30/08/2022 18:10

Anyone watching?

KittensTeaAndCake · 04/09/2022 21:33

I was but have turned off as I can't stand the mentoring rubbish. I thought the whole point was the extremes, seeing how each other live. But lately all the 'rich' people have lived a 'poor' lifestyle before anyway, so what's the point?

Shame, this programme used to be really good but now it seems just an advert for their mentoring businesses.

loobylou10 · 04/09/2022 22:14

Switched off! 'The mentoring package we are offering you is worth £30,000'
No it's not, it's just clap trap - can I have the cash instead please? Rubbish.

I was cringing at that, why the need to tell them how much it was worth?!

Really finding this series hard work..

I hate the snake oil salemen from the rich side. It's so grubby. Making money exploiting people like the families from the poor side. And using the show to reel in more suckers.
Anyone who offers mentoring services for a fee should be sifted out of the casting at the start.

Bring back the engineers, the scientists, the retired doctors.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2022 19:16

Just watching now

agree no need to say this is £30k. Really ? People pay that hmmmmmmmm

sadly pole dancing isn’t a a good business

and even more so at todays current climate

How are they going to help the business ?

shame this series and last one have been mentored and the rich business aiding them by chats and talks

Online mentoring. What a surprise

purpleme12 · 06/09/2022 22:24

The poor people's garden is ace.
I wish I had one that big

purpleme12 · 06/09/2022 22:47

To be honest I was rolling my eyes through the whole of this episode.
I mean don't get me wrong positive thoughts rather than being negative can make a difference and all that but honestly it really pisses me off when people go on and on about mindset and positivity being there be all and end all and the absolute answer to everything. It is not the answer to everything. Ugggh.

Also they didn't even say how they were going to help them, just that they were going to help them!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/09/2022 07:34

Let’s see if they will do a go back and check on them in a year series

as e1 was very local I will imm remember if they do

Charmanderchick · 10/09/2022 19:45

Every episode is the same now, endless wanky mentoring coaching malarkey, who on earth pays thirty grand for this nonsense?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2022 19:49

Makes you wonder …..

and if they had £30k to spend on it surely they aren’t poor !

e5 tomorrow

a single mum with 4 jobs has big ambitions to start her own food business

swaps with race horse breeder

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 10/09/2022 20:23

I like how they said 'so and so has spotted a clue to what the woman does for a living' .... Cos it's so conveniently placed hanging there!

I know, this series is so staged

I cringed at the beginning when the posh family were in the car and the dad was explaining to the girls that these are called semi detached houses - they are two houses! Oh how the other half live... Grin

purpleme12 · 11/09/2022 23:07

🤣

purpleme12 · 11/09/2022 23:08

She's a healthcare assistant.
I thought she'd have more money if she was a healthcare assistant

purpleme12 · 11/09/2022 23:53

At least this to rich family was quite down to earth (apart from the massive amazing houses!) And not annoying

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/09/2022 14:38

Think this was the best one of this series

them buying a food wagon - tho did say he would take a share of the business and be a director

Wonder what his cut will be

giving the boy some paid woRk and experience over summer

good to finally have a family to swap and more rich children so they had to share a bedroom

also good to see decent food shopping tho wouid have been nice to see them cooking and eating food for less then £50 ans what their food menu was

guessing she can’t up her blood hours

care work is poorly paid

cleaning better

but both lovely families
