It's like Christmas has come early! It's looks tense from the trailer/advert. So sad it's the last one though-or is it just Perez's last series? Love Tosh. Can't stand Sandy. I'd love to visit up there.

Answering my own question, possibly January. Series 12 finished filming in September. <drums fingers> I'm not noted for my patience. I could do with something good to watch now. I may have re-watch Happy Valley so I'm ready when series 3 of that arrives. No date for that either, as far as I can see.

Apart from anything else, surely Ann Cleeves has some say, as the writer of the original book series. She would probably have something to say if they changed the format to something very different from her creation.

On a related note, are we due some more episodes of Vera soon, does anyone know? I've got withdrawal symptoms.

I wonder if she has any involvement or say any more, or if she 'signed out' when they stopped using the books and moved to it being 'inspired by', or whatever the wording was?
Apart from anything else, I can't imagine she gave the go-ahead to the most recent series; the plotting was dubious at best.
But no, I don't think they'll change the format or 'feel' of the show; it's positioned as Scottish noir and I think they'll keep it. For me it was just Ashley J herself, as (probably unfairly) I associate her with lighter roles in lighter shows.

Watching Down Among The Big Boys which stars Douglas & Ashley Jenson. Made in 1993 , Its being shown to celebrate Billy Connolly’s 80th birthday tomorrow.

Thanks for this and I can't believe Billy is 80!

Tosh is an awful actor. The full range seems to be a twist of the mouth which is used to express any emotion

HowzAboutIt · 24/11/2022 18:28

Yes, she is awful. Even interacting naturally with the baby seems too much for her. She pulls 2 faces - miserable, and confused and miserable

ToooOldForThis · 25/11/2022 22:40

I think Ashley Jensen definitely has it in her to be a bit "harsher". I hope so!
She's also in Mayflies which following reading the book, I really hope is good.
