In honour of the finale, can we have a thread about the most memorable moments over the years? I haven't watched for many years now but as a kid it was on every single day.

Moments/characters I remember:

A spider falling into someone's from above the mirror in the car making her accelerate and knock down and kill another character (I think it was Cheryl?)

Joe Mangles dog Bouncer.

Joe Mangle's wife dying by being shot at in some sort of duck enclosure (I was very young for that one so could have got that wrong).

Fancying Billy and Lance and having posters of them on my bedroom wall.

A curly haired, husky voiced girl being shot. Was she called Cody?

A wheeler dealer character called Lou.

Anyone else?!

Yes, Paul married one of them and snogged the other.

(By weird coincidence, Paul's second wife's name was Gail, his third wife was played by an actress named Gayle, and the actor's real life wife is also named Gail).


Remember when Daphne gave birth by a duck pond, and her husband Des stood up and went for a walk to admire the ducks right as the baby came out? And Jim and Beverly happen to drive by and Beverly delivers the baby, while Jim just decides to stand by Daphne's feet and stare at her vagina?

Lucy faking being blind after getting stuck in a drain and Scott figuring out that she was faking is a storyline that I'm convinced I made up because no one seemed to remember it but me

Think it was the original Lucy with short dark hair

Googled her name, Kylie Flinker. She will always be Lucy in my mind.

Does my one remember the Alessi family? I think the dad was called Benito, and the son was Rick? He dated Cody.
And Todd , who lived with Jim and Helen Robinson? Or was it Helen Daniels? Todd had a friend called Marco.
Also I’m sure one of Pauls wives (maybe Gail) was accused of stealing a pen from a department store and was sent to court? Or did I imagine that too?!

Todd landers he had a little sister I think katie. They were related to the Robbinsons in some way. He got hit by a van in the way to stop his girlfriend (Phoebe?) from having an abortion

Todd and Katie Landers were the nephew/niece of Jim’s second wife Beverley. They came to live with the Robinsons while their mother was ill but then Todd decided to stay on after Katie went home. And yes he was the father of Phoebe’s daughter Hope.

Brad and Beth were engaged, but he cheated with Lauren and Beth dumped him at the altar, then took him back and they got married and left the show together to start a new life in Perth (in 1993).

A full 20 years later Brad returned played by a new actor, with a wife (Therese) and teenage children in tow. So his divorce from Beth and meeting and marrying Therese and having and raising children with her all happened offscreen. Then Brad found out he has a secret long-lost daughter from his brief affair with Lauren when they were youths, who Lauren thought died at birth and Brad never knew existed, and they decided to look for her (the daughter wound up being Paige), and that ultimately destroyed his marriage to Therese. Brad got back together with Lauren and Therese went on to marry Paul.


The recasting of Brad was, um, an interesting choice. The original Brad was such a classic blond beach hunk.

I think it says a lot about the show that all the main stars who are now huge worldwide came back for the finale.

I loved the whole story with Libby Kennedy, Dan Fitzgerald and Steph Scully. I was trying to get my OH to remember the names of the blonde surfy guy with the blonde girl - then i realised i was thinking of Shane and Angel from Home and Away!

I've just been reading the Wikipedia backstory of Brad and Lauren and I can't see where there was a gap when Lauren could have been pregnant with Paige?

Drew and Joel were both super hotties.

Cheryl randomly had another actress playing her part for a few months then the original one came back. Possibly on holiday or unwell or something.

The spider falling from behind the mirror causing a car accident was definitely neighbours because I'm pretty sure that's how the aforementioned Cheryl was killed off.

I wonder how hard they did try to save it and whether the rumours this year added to its demise.
Ive always been aware of lack of indigenous peoples in Neighbours and lack of ethnic minorities. Though they did try to address this latterly. LGBTQ very well represented and done nicely too.

Collette Mann said there isn’t much full time tv work in Australia now - only H&A now.

Harolds daughter getting shot at a lake, by poachers.I think her name was Kerry. Was she married to Joe Mangle? I can’t remember who she was with.
And remember Harold falling off a cliff top, to appear a few years later with amnesia!

And didn't the actress who played Kerry come back later and Harold was convinced it was his daughter, but it turned out to be her double. And I think it might have turned romantic between them 🤮

It was Lauren's mum - she told her the baby died and Lauren believed her.

I guess they sort of skirted over the details of Lauren presumably being in hospital believing her baby has died and the staff obviously not thinking that. Plus issues around funeral etc. I can't remember exactly

Lou and Harold hated each other due to them both liking Madge, they had some very funny scenes together.

I was so cross when Karl Kennedy had an affair with Sarah and I couldn't see what she saw in him.

Sarah had a sister, I can't remember what she was called but she was petite and blond and completely different to Sarah.

After Todd died he came back as a ghost. (Unless I am getting him confused with Shane and Angel from Home and Away).

Terese is played by Rebekah Elmaloglu who played Sophie in H&A (she was a teen Mum and lived with Pippa).

I remember Toby, Jo Mangles son and a scene where Jo slapped Toby and he sat on the front drive cuddling Bouncer.

It was great to see Charlene in a green Mini in the final episode, when she left originally she left in a green Mini and I remember sobbing my heart out!

I haven't read the whole thread but hope this has been mentioned a lot- Julie Martin dying during a murder mystery weekend. Rick Alessi was in it, my total crush at the time.

Weirdly I also remember a thread where someone was dared to drink a lot of vinegar and went into a diabetic coma almost, she might have been a twin and had a brother? I will miss neighbours
