Can we have a thread about the best Neighbours moments?

In honour of the finale, can we have a thread about the most memorable moments over the years? I haven't watched for many years now but as a kid it was on every single day.

Moments/characters I remember:

A spider falling into someone's from above the mirror in the car making her accelerate and knock down and kill another character (I think it was Cheryl?)

Joe Mangles dog Bouncer.

Joe Mangle's wife dying by being shot at in some sort of duck enclosure (I was very young for that one so could have got that wrong).

Fancying Billy and Lance and having posters of them on my bedroom wall.

A curly haired, husky voiced girl being shot. Was she called Cody?

A wheeler dealer character called Lou.

Anyone else?!

Oh and Susan losing her memory and thinking she was a teenager. I can't remember how that happened, I think someone whacked her on the head.

What was the name of the Kinski dad who married Susan (in one of her break ups from Karl) and then died?

He was called Alex, didn’t Zeke stop talking when he died?

This thread has been a great trip down memory lane! I watched Neighbours from the very late 80s and all through the 90s and it's been great looking back.

Wasn't the faking blind thing Todd's friend, Josh? I'm sure he had an accident that left him temporarily blind but then didn't tell anyone when his sight returned because he was enjoying the attention/sympathy. Or did they run that storyline twice?

I don't think it's been mentioned here but I have vague recollections of a vicar (or similar) who got amnesia from a bump to the head? I think he eventually got his memory back months (or years) later from another bump. I have no idea who it was though - anyone remember?

Who remembers Donna and Ringo? Donna of course played by Margot Robbie but their storyline was similar to Mac and Hendrix (married young and he died)

My favourite moments are from the 80s/early 90s and then the glory days of House of Trouser.

I know someone mentioned Lou but he and Harold were such a fantastic double act I'm sad he didn't come back for the finale

us here! We loved Donna and ringo Still spoke about them for awhile after they’d left.

When Steph went to prison I remember my dd asking when she’d be back and I said oh you’ll be in secondary by then. And i think it was about then she came back!

Katya Kinski is now in highly acclaimed AppleTV show Severance. I love it when Neighbours actors pop up.

She was also in marvel Agents of Shield.

Lovely thread, thanks OP!

So many random moments. When they recasted the actress who played Skye's mum in a different role and the poor kid was so confused.

Skye's cousin whose parents even, couldn't decide of her name was pronounced Sereena or Seren-ah

When Gabby Willis and Cheryl Stark both wanted to call their kids Shannon but Doug and Lou registered the babies with different names.

Too much gold. I'm gutted it's over

She was in some of the flashback scenes, I’m pretty sure the actress passed away a few years back.

Ah we missed the first 20 minutes, so I didn't see any flashbacks.

Was that not Harold with the amnesia?

Rummikub · 30/07/2022 12:22

No there was a priest who had amnesia. He fathered giant baby Gabe with Paige.
Harold did too didn’t he.
kyle lost his sight for awhile after looking at the eclipse too long 😂

Harold definitely had amnesia after he went missing, presumed dead, for a few years! This was someone else though. It's bugging me that I can't remember properly. I feel like there was something about a paint can and a bell ringing??

Am muscling in on this thread but was Annalise in the finale? I haven’t watched since about 1990 so was peering through the mists of time at a lot of the characters. I didn’t noticed Billy at the time either but now thinking the video, guy with facial hair?

Billy was the man in front of the bridge but looked unrecognisable. The actress who played Annalise apparently said no.

I wonder if Kylie was recovering from a cold or some throat problem? She sounded very croaky.

TheSummerPalace · 30/07/2022 12:39

He was Jack!

My favourite moment was Jane getting drunk, in the gay bar with Nicolette!

thatsnotmynamec · 30/07/2022 13:00

@KateMcCallister ahh thank you. I've not seen all of it yet will keep looking out.

I've just figured out who Clive is too 😂 the gorilla gram sparked a memory

KateMcCallister · 30/07/2022 13:03

@SomethingPunny Finn had amnesia and forgot he was evil for a while?

Justcannot · 30/07/2022 13:15

The Art of Neighbours Facebook group is still going strong! Been relatively quiet for the last few years (weekly posts rather than han the heyday of 20 posts a day in the late 2000s, but really picked up recently obviously with some lovely posts reminiscing and resurrecting old arts. Hilarious!

Rummikub · 30/07/2022 13:18

My ultimate Neighbours moment was when it was celebrating an anniversary for Prisoner Cell Block H. Original prisoners turned up to Harolds all wearing denim and met Sheila and Susan. They even used the line ‘he used to give me roses’!

Lurleene · 30/07/2022 13:18

Lovely trip down memory lane watching it last night and great to see the actors from 'my' Neighbours era coming back and clearly having a ball to be there.

I so clearly remember the first time I clapped eyes on Jason Donovan. Old Scott had been missing but had turned up in a hospital. Jim (I think) went to retrieve him and they pulled back the covers to reveal him and Jason was playing him instead.

I just read Joan Collins' diary and she taks about Kimberley Davies aka Annaliese Hartman quite a lot in it as they made a Hollywood series together. On the back of that I looked Kimberley up and she looks just the same. I wonder why she chose not to return.

I also just read Josh Widdecombe's book, Watching Neighbours Twice a Day. An absolute must if you want some 90s TV nostalgia, it brought back lots of great memories.

I don't know who Finn is, but I'm starting to think they just did the amnesia thing a lot! 😂

brownbreadicecream · 30/07/2022 13:23

There was a storyline about the band The Wombats playing at the coffee shop. Don't think anything eventful happened, for once...

I used to work in an office when I was about 20 (2007-ish) and had loads of colleagues the same age and we used to love the Art of Neighbours - it was in the early days of Facebook and we thought we were so cool sneaking on to it at work! One of the guys in my team used to add his creations to the group Grin We were gutted when Wimbledon was on as it meant no Neighbours

Vampirethriller · 30/07/2022 13:26

Cody the second played Brett's boss in Kath and Kim!
Does anyone remember one of the twins who Paul married faking being pregnant?

SurpriseSurprise · 30/07/2022 13:38

The twin faked being pregnant and then made up it was making her feel horny so she did get pregnant. Wasn’t their sim Andrew?

Then Jim’s 2nd wife Beverley looked after a baby someone abandoned because her and Jim didn’t have one. She was heartbroken when the mum came back for it

Her niece and nephew lived with them for a bit as well. The girl was Katie, I think the boy was Josh

thatsnotmynamec · 30/07/2022 14:23

Just finished the finale so lovely. A brilliant ending. Really impressed with guy Pearce he really got into it.

latesummervibes · 30/07/2022 14:30

when Joe Mangel and Melanie finally got together, it was so romantic! I cried!

Fizbosshoes · 30/07/2022 15:29

Susan (had a relationship with Madges ex/Henry and Charlene's father) got in touch with Charlene as she was ill and needed someone to look after her baby (who I think was called Sam) Charlene took the baby and inexplicablypretended it was her own . Eventually Susan came round as she didn't want to be separated from the baby. She took it for a walk in a (really old fashioned) pushchair, and then stopped to talk to someone - possibly Clive. Then the pushchair rolled down a hill, and Paul and Scott were in a car and crashed the car trying to avoid hitting the baby.

Oh what happened to them?
