Macca got everyone talking so the old thread is full! Here's part two still lots of good stuff to come on Sunday 😃

Ring must also be around 80, and drumming is hella physically exhausting. An 80 yr old playing the piano is one thing, but I'd be really shocked if an 80 year old could still knock out a banging drum set!

Apparently Ringo has just had to postpone some performances due to two members of his band testing positive for Covid. So he’s still going too! He looks great for his age as well.

Is he still drumming then?

Clymene · 26/06/2022 11:10

His voice was definitely stronger at the start of the set. He crucified blackbird.

I caught a bit of Yungblud and was quite impressed. And I thought Noel was boring so I watched Billie Eilish on UHD and she was great

Wow, fair play!

If I'm able to do that sort of exertion at 80 I'd consider myself very lucky.

Paul McCartney's last few albums are really for the very obsessed fans. He is big in Japan and his album 'kisses on the bottom ' was huge when he toured with that one. Maybe they are a bit more forward thinking than people like me who only like the older Beatles songs ? He was criticized for joining Wings too in the 70s and having Linda play as well : John Lennon said he was only any good at love songs so he wrote ' silly love songs ' which did well in the charts. He has never been scared of the critics ! Band on the run is a very good album.
Love him or loath him, you have to admire the song writing and the longevity of his music and which brings people of all ages together. Not many art forms do this! It was nice to see after nearly two years of covid misery.

Great reading all the comments on the previous thread.
I went to bed at midnight as I was just too tired of the mumbling (I wish they turned up his mic for the talky bits, it was frustrating and made him look even more like a bumbling old man), and said to dh and dd I'd only stay up late for The Foos. Anyway, sat in bed, having a last scroll through fb and what did I see start coming up? Only Dave feckin Grohl on stage with Paul! I shall watch the last half hour later today.

I've not read the whole thread so apologies if this has been covered, but does anyone know if PSBs are on telly or if I need to suffer the iPlayer and it's freezing at the start?
Out of interest, does anyone else have that issue? Anything I watch on there always freezes a few times at the start. We have a lead for the internet to our tv so it's not a wireless issue.
Hope to see Elbow as well today.

FootontheHeartbreak · 26/06/2022 11:19

Please someone link to the earlier thread and tell me where I can watch the last part of it.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 11:20

I player on my tv isn't great ( my tv is about three years old , so not that old!)
It often buffers and Netflix seizes up too , we sometimes have to turn it off and on again at the electricity switch as we can't get it to work with the remote! It can be a faff.
I think modern tech isn't always wonderful yet the NASA JPL people can control a robot on Mars !
Looking forwards to the PSB's ! I wonder who they will have on with them ?

I loved Macca. So there!

Octomore · 26/06/2022 11:29

I'm going to check out Jessie Ware's set. And Little Sims as I missed most of that before. Any other recommendations?

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 11:29

Glastonbury hi lights (so far )

Macca and hey Jude , Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen
Noel Gallagher high flying birds , half a world away ! Scissors lady , who knew wired scissors could be a thing ?
Sam Fender, sweet.
Supergrass and Crowded house ( old school )
TLC
self esteem and her outfit too
Griff
Little simz
More to come today although I'm not a Kendrick Lemar fan.

User46489 · 26/06/2022 11:31

Thank goodness I recorded it on Sky last night as I was too tired to watch most of it and it doesn't seem to be on catch up or iPlayer yet, I thought the last hour was the best, I don't generally like the Beatles stuff so much but enjoyed this. I will watch and record DIana Ross and PSBs later, not going to rely on iPlayer

champagnesocialist11 · 26/06/2022 11:32

Olivia Rodriquez and lily Allen singing F you to the justices who overturned roe v wade is the highlight for me and sam fender

AuntieMarys · 26/06/2022 08:17

I watched 19 hours of it yesterday. Bloody great.

Enough about Macca's set already.

viques · 26/06/2022 12:02

I loved DG coming out for the last bit in his specs!” Yeah, I’m a rock god, but at this time of night the contacts come out.” I half expected him to be wearing comfy slippers too, but I suppose there are limits.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 12:04

Olivia Rodrigo has beautiful hair . Not a bad singer , but there are a lot of young girls around like her just now so a lot of competition.
Loved her outfit , fish net tights are back!
Her band are cool

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 12:05

After the Macca set , I bet they all had a nice cup of tea and chat in the hospitality tent chewing the fat and remembering those no longer with us! ..

BoomVan · 26/06/2022 12:09

I'm just catching up with sets. So far Idles are my fave. Brilliant scenes in the crowd!

Loved self esteem, did a great set.

Anyone see Confidence Man from Fri? Talk about exhausting 😳

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 12:12

I didn't like the Idles much , but the crowd loved it ! They had energy I must say !
The foals were brill , I've never been a fan before but they really rocked ! They have been about a while

Cassimin · 26/06/2022 12:24

Nice to see the views above about macca doing his new stuff as taking the music in a new direction. After having a moan last night I fully agree, doing the old stuff all the time would be like having the same dinner every night.
he showed his musical skills off playing all the different instruments.
my daughters just texted and said he was brilliant and she can’t wait to watch again when she gets home and she loves Harry Styles so he must have been good!!!

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 10:43

I've never liked Noel G much ( as a person) but that set with his high flying birds at Glastonbury was amazing and he has matured into a good looking bod , his interviews are funny and he has mellowed out a bit too I think ?
I bet Liam is spitting feathers
Will watch his set again I think

Why would Liam be spitting feathers exactly? Liam who just played Knebworth solo you mean?

Liam's more popular, more successful, AND a damn sight nicer person than spiteful Tory Noel has ever been or will ever be. Noel's "sense of humour" hasn't mellowed, it's always been, and remains, pure spite at the expense of other people.

Also totally unable to understand people going on about the naff scissors player. She's been with his band for years. Noel likes twatty things like that.

Glastonbury is such an "I obviously never listen to music or pay attention to the music business but must have my say" event.

Likewise Ringo Starr has toured for years. He's a damn sight more competent as a performer than Macca.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 12:37

Yeah. I do agree with that criticism , but I just liked Noel's set yesterday and I do feel his mellowed out over the years in interviews and such like when I didn't like him much personally before ( just the music)
I follow Liam on Twitter so aware he is also touring too, but I've never seen any of them play live as I'm not hardcore enough for festivals or live gigs and am more of a like the hits kind of person I admit it.

Octomore · 26/06/2022 12:38

I definitely haven't followed Ringo's post-beatles career at all tbh.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 12:42

I didn't know that Ringo was touring either!
I am a lightweight on the music front , but I still like listening to new artists and bands and I've had a free weekend to watch a lot of Glastonbury this year and enjoyed a lot of it.
Róisín Murphy is on atm. Not new , but still good fun and a great voice
