Macca got everyone talking so the old thread is full! Here's part two still lots of good stuff to come on Sunday 😃

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 10:25

Up late. 😂

GylesBrandrethNewJumper · 26/06/2022 10:28

I'm suprised they managed to keep Dave Grohl secret. There had been rumours about Springsteen al day, but nothing about Grohl.

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 10:32

DG and Macca have been mates for years. But not sure about Bruce’s connection ?

In light of recent events it must have been hard for DG to get up there you could sort of see it. Him tapping the T tattoo on his hand as he left the stage. ☹️

Crackercrazy · 26/06/2022 10:35

I gave up last night and missed the good bits! Now watching Jesse Ware on catch-up who is superb, should’ve watched her last night instead.

i haven’t seen much but really enjoyed Sigrid, she seemed so happy to be there.

Where's Ringo in all this? Obviously we love Abe but has he given it all up?

Ring must also be around 80, and drumming is hella physically exhausting. An 80 yr old playing the piano is one thing, but I'd be really shocked if an 80 year old could still knock out a banging drum set!

MarshaBradyo · 26/06/2022 10:36

I don’t really know Youngblud music do couldn’t get into on that level but the energy was something else from them all

So sweaty

I also loved the story that only a few years ago they played to ten people in a basement now at Glastonbury

WingBingo · 26/06/2022 10:39

My favourite bits are when it’s someone belting out a tune that sounds amazing

for me, Sam Fender and Noel have been enjoyable. Not usually into either of them that much.

Noel is very easy in the eye isn’t he?

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 10:40

Twitter spats everywhere about his set , but given his age and everything I think it was brave to get up and give it go at such a large festival , even if some of the songs could have been cut out ( new ones) and no need for he ukulele!!

Not many at his age could do have done this though. It is all about the music for him. Even if he divides opinions.
Did he even stop for a wee or a cup of tea ?
I'd be worried about dehydration now !

Yes possibly. TBF I wasn’t sure he was still alive until yesterdays thread. 😂
He always seemed a bit grumpy anyway.

MarshaBradyo · 26/06/2022 10:42

Does anyone get emotional just hearing crowds? Whether singing together etc

Or all that you’re all beautiful stuff some of the musicians do

I’m such a sop these days after the pandemic I love the sound of it so much

Octomore · 26/06/2022 10:42

AvonCallingBarksdale · 26/06/2022 10:02

Absolutely he has nothing to prove!
The Beatles wouldn’t have got far if they’d told audiences that they didn’t care whether they liked what they were hearing or not 😂 (disclaimer: I am tired and hungover and would have liked wall-to-wall Beatles songs 😁)

The Beatles quite frequently took their new albums in directions that were totally different to their previous ones. They were experimental and changed their style (despite the risk of alienating their fanbase) - that was part of why they were good.

They could have spent 10 years churning out rewrites of Yesterday and Love Me Do and made plenty of money, but they took risks and tried new things.

In that respect, Macca's approach last night was very consistent with what the Beatles were all about.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 10:43

I've never liked Noel G much ( as a person) but that set with his high flying birds at Glastonbury was amazing and he has matured into a good looking bod , his interviews are funny and he has mellowed out a bit too I think ?
I bet Liam is spitting feathers
Will watch his set again I think

JacquelineCarlyle · 26/06/2022 10:44

@the80sweregreat just watched him and his interview with Jo Whiley afterwards. His set was fantastic!

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 10:44

Even Dave Grohl who is 30 years younger admits to taking two Advil and a load of Jäegermeister (sp) before a live show so maybe Macca has a similar regime? 😂

I won't hear a word said against Thomas the Tank!

watcherintherye · 26/06/2022 10:47

Does anyone think Oasis will ever re-form? Would it be amazing, or a mistake, I wonder?

WingBingo · 26/06/2022 10:47

@MarshaBradyo i get emotional watching the crowds.

everyone looks so happy.

Octomore · 26/06/2022 10:47

Each to their own, but 🤮🤮

AvonCallingBarksdale · 26/06/2022 10:48

Currently listening to my Beatles Ballads LP and singing along - tbf Macca certainly has the edge on my vocals this morning.
Must have been hard for DG to get on stage without TH 😢.
They’ve just played TLC on radio 6 - they were great on Friday.
Happy Glastonbury watching today everyone!

Springsteen and Macca are friends too. He has joined him on stage before in America.

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 10:49

I think I’m having a mid life crisis. I always liked Noel but I absolutely love Liam’s ‘Everything’s Electric’ 😬

Not sure if my C&P will have worked but… that’s really interesting @Octomore It’s made me rethink/reflect. Good to have a different perspective 👍🏻

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 10:55

It’s not made me want to update my Spotify playlist to include all PM’s songs I heard for the first time yesterday that’s for sure.

Yeah, I was pretty sceptical about Macca doing that slot to start with.

But the bit at the end where he, DG, BS and the other guitarist were taking turns jamming and riffing on the guitar reminded me that he's actually someone who loves experimenting with music and bouncing off other musicians. I think he was never just going to do a "best of", it's not in his nature.

Scarletpetunias · 26/06/2022 11:01

I’m not getting the whole ‘he’s 80’ business as an excuse for a poor set. It doesn’t matter what age you are, surely you’d know what is expected if you’re headlining on the Pyramid stage on the Saturday night - new/unfamiliar material at that point in the day is going to kill the mood, not bring things to a head.
