No, I am still here. Well done OP. Smile

Rosehugger · 27/06/2022 22:05

Well done those who picked Daphne Sparrow as spy cop!

Still not sure what this has to do with Scott.

Selkiesarereal · 27/06/2022 22:05

So confused as to why Gary was killed as he had nothing to do with fire.

Rosehugger · 27/06/2022 22:08

I'm guessing Gary found out who the spy cop was. I still don't think Scott killed him until there is a missing link in the final episode- looks like the Sparrows have more motive.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/06/2022 22:10

Guardian recap isn’t up yet

basically it is hinted spy cop is Ian’s wife

but turns out she is in witness p

then could be jenny

it turns out is Daphnis the drug dealers wife

she said a garage wouldn’t be guarded so Ian’s dad and other miners go to steal from it but cause a fire

Ian’s brother who is a copper runs into save him but dad is at home

brother gets burnt znd scarred which we know

spade killer is kidnapped by Scott crossbow man but let go

he has a go. Refuses to drop it so armed police kill him

Ian grasses up their dad

svott knows it’s Daphnis and ends with a arrow in her door and her backing away

think that’s about it

was a bloody good episode

roll on tomorrow last one

Amazing episode. So many revelations. Sorry for being thick but why is Helen St Clair in witness protection?

What happened to the policeman who was attacked in the garage? I presume he got rescued but his rescuer died?

Penguinsaregreat · 27/06/2022 22:23

Wow I really didn’t think Keats was Daphne Sparrow. It threw me when she went to Julie’s and said they were all friends when young and went out together (Julie, Daphne’s and Julie’s sister) but now it makes sense. I assumed spy cop entered the village at an older age. I’m not convinced that Scott killed Gary either, I think that could be one of the Sparrows maybe the taxi driving son.
I still think there might be a link between Cinderella and the young Sparrow ( the girlfriend and boyfriend.) Or a link between Jenny and Robert Glenisters character. Did she have a child? Could that child be Cinderellas mum?
Did the police really spy like this? That is awful if they did.
Great episode. The actor playing Andy is so good.
Also how good was the young Mr Sparrow, his voice was spot on.

cakeorwine · 27/06/2022 22:27

You can see how a group can be infiltrated and people within the group can cause trouble. I am sure there will be a drama about Spycops and other groups they've infiltrated - and the harm they have caused.

woodhill · 27/06/2022 22:29

Is Tom Glennister playing policeman In Greenhouse, - Cary

RGs son in real life - I assumed so

It's very good but I've only half watched

cakeorwine · 27/06/2022 22:29

Did the police really spy like this? That is awful if they did

Happened a lot. There have been revelations about spycops having relationships with women within the groups.

DuncinToffee · 27/06/2022 22:56

Just finished watching, great episode.

So Daphne Sparrow is Keats, well done to those who said this.

St Clair knew what was in Gary's redacted report and that he had an alibi.

I am still very confused about Scott's motives.

Mumteedum · 27/06/2022 23:02

Totally confused about Scott. His Dad is a kind of nonentity character. What happened to his mum? Is that a motive?

BracedlnEndIessJanuary · 27/06/2022 23:20

Someone on guardian comments declared it was Daphne last week because Keats was inspired by the poem Rhododaphne (written by the poet Peacock).
Clue being peacock getting shot.
I thought I was quite well read/literate until I read that! Grin

Simplelobsterhat · 28/06/2022 06:53

Just joining this thread because I have questions and DH isn't watching this!

  1. as it was StClair who took the statement when London cop gave Gary an alibi after the fire, how come in the 2nd episode he was trying to find out why charges had been dropped against Gary and why files were redacted? He knew all about it at the time and wouldn't have forgotten as his family were involved.

  2. what was Andys involvement back in the strike? Did we see him in the flashbacks? I was struggling to follow who was who in flashbacks. At one point the were talking about a killer targeting striking miners as I that was the link between Gary and Andy but I wasn't sure on his past. Also do we know which of the people on the golf course was actually being targeted?

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/06/2022 08:03

e5 recap

sure sure mine was better when @LadyEloise1 🙀🙀🙀😂😂😂

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 28/06/2022 08:31

Re Andy's involvement, the only link I can see he has to the strike is his daughter in law.
Her dad drove the coach and I think owned the company.

It was Jenny's husband who was targetted at the golf course.

St Clair looks very dodgy about Gary's file.

CuteOrangeElephant · 28/06/2022 11:02

So the actor playing young Kevin is Robert Glenister's son. That really explains why they look so much alike.

LadyEloise1 · 28/06/2022 11:16

I hope the BBC won't mess about tonight re Sherwood and tennis.

Thank** you re the recap @Blondeshavemorefun and the Guardian but it is hard to follow. So annoying to have missed Ep 5.
If I'd known I'd have changed over to BBC2.
Bet there's a lot more than just me annoyed with the switch.
I wrote to the BBC saying I would pay for the ability to watch the BBC IPlayer as would other non UK residents , no doubt .
Despite being rather broke, the BBC replied that they had no plans to open it up to wider use and more badly needed revenue.

Springduckling · 28/06/2022 11:20

Another Great episode. Albeit a bit confused about aspects . Thought the younger versions of St Clair and Kevin looked a lot like their older versions but didn't sound that similar. St Clairs voice had deepened several octaves and accents had changed.
I think they could have made it clearer earlier on that the character with the burn was Ian St Clair's brother.

Agree with pp that the actor playing Andy is really good- he is in a lot of things deservedly so.
