Can't find a thread for stranger things 4...anyone else impatiently waiting for Friday?

I think we should keep this a spoiler free zone too if that's okay?

As in none at all or set a time limit?

Starting tonight! looking forward to this for ages.

Hopefully I can get through them all without seeing a major spoiler. I’ve muted ST on Twitter and have banned myself from googling.

This was a lockdown watch for me, DCs said it was too scary when it first came so they didn’t want to watch it. So I haven’t been waiting as long as some.

Excited!! We have been rewatching in preparation but only got to the end of S2 so wondering whether to rewatch S3 first. Probably won’t manage it!!

The episodes look really long! Each one is over an hour, which is a bit long for me. I’m excited to see how it all goes though. Interested to see how Will is going to develop - they’ve sort of set up a storyline I’m not sure they’ll follow through on.

I read that this is set 6 months after S3, obviously with covid filming was massively delayed. So all the kids now look too old!

im a bit worried that the really long episodes mean there’s going to be a lot of filler. 2 and a half hours for the final I refuse to watch films that long.

If someone is going to drop big spoilers, please give a heads up.

Just watched the first episode (good use of my day off). It was actually okay but I did feel it could have been shorter. Lots of really long sequences that were a bit unnecessary. I agree with two and a half hours being waaayyy too long. Does anyone think tv shows (especially on Netflix) are all getting way way too long? It used to be 40-45 minutes an episode for most shows, maybe a bit longer for a season finale. Now all shows seem to be 50 plus minutes per episode and very padded out with filler to make them last that long.

Just a word of warning about season 4. It is more violent than previous seasons in my opinion.

Not so much the graphic nature of it, but more how it's done, and to whom.

Can't say more with spoilers, but those watching with younger kids might want to be more wary with season 4.

On ep 3 now and I agree - more horror than sci-fi which is fine but definitely not kid friendly.

Really enjoying it so far tho!

Fuuuuck it's dark. You can really see all the horror influences coming through. Half way through E3 at mo.

We were watching with DD 13 but had to switch off as it's too much for her - she's gutted as has loved it so far.

I think Eleven's situation is upsetting her too

Yes I can see why El might be upsetting for a kid that age 😢 to be honest I was semi surprised she is in a mainstream school and nothing’s flagged up. I mean she has literally never been to school before and she talks like that? Surely a teacher would notice something!

But yeah I felt bad when (tiny spoiler) she had to do her presentation. I wanted to scoop her up and run away 😂

We've only watched the first one as we had to watch the end of season 3 to remember what happened as it's been so long!
I was getting massive Nightmare On Elm Street vibes at the end, DH disagrees and thinks it was more Hellraiser!

Glad there’s a threat but how will ‘no spoilers’ work when there’re so many episodes out on Netflix?

On ep 6, really liking it and its good having more of a background on some characters.
The person who plays (the baddie) is the same person who played Freddie in nightmare on elm St.
It is more classic horror in this season and a lot more intense and imo not for younger children.

It can't really! It's not like on tele where it's on weekly!

Luckily my teens still want to watch with us! Though DH and I would watch on our own anyway. I didn’t like massive James Bond like Russian set up in series 3 much, but nonetheless really enjoyed the series as a whole, yes, it’s daft but it’s fun daft with 80s songs and horror thrown in.

Disliked most of the first episode (dislike horror). The opening sequence in the lab was disturbing.

Erica and Steve/Robin’s friendship were the only highlights.

The overt bullying of El, Eddie behaving ‘weirdly’ and the ‘sad cheerleader victim’ were too stereotypical.

The actor playing the new character Eddie looks way too old to be playing an 18yo, even compared with the actors playing the other older teens.

Oh and did also like Joyce and Murray!
