Would also explain how Brenner was able to keep tabs on El and mum.

He looks loads younger than 39 though 😳

He does look younger, I think Jamie is only in his early 30's. I think they could have chosen an older actor to play the character to make it more realistic but I do love Jamie Campbell Bower!

There is an official prequel book out and in there her biological father is a guy called Andrew Rich.
The book is called suspicious minds.

I've just rewatched series two and the aunt wasn't ringing the authorities, she was trying to ring Hopper. Definitely seems harsh that El abandoned both of them because of that.

Also I realised that El never told anyone about 008, no one at all.

I fully expect 008 to make an appearance in either of the last 2 episodes...

My 12 year old adored the previous seasons

is the current one much “worse” in terms of horror?

he is pretty unshakeable and not at all bothered by the previous ones

I hate horror and I found season 3 to be more gory etc than season 4. The thing with the deaths in s4 is that once you've seen the first one, it's the same for the other deaths.

The only bit I didn't like was the massacre at the start (you just see the aftermath) and the bit in the prison where the men had to fight the demogorgon

I re watched the first 3 seasons after I watched season 4 and I don't actually think it's any worse than the rest. The first season with the demogorgon is pretty scary at times.

I retesting point that she has never told anyone about 008 and now has me wondering why and what will be revealed about El

I don't think series 4 is any worse than series 3 tbh. I closed my eyes for a few bits in Russia (feet related) but otherwise it was okay and I'm a wimp really!

I found it a harder watch (in terms of having to cover my eyes!) than the other series's.

But I loved it. Can't wait for the last 2 episodes. I'm rewatched there end of episode 4 several times and it still gives me goosebumps.

Need to rewatch from series 1 as I've forgotten a lot of what happened.

Finished it last night and really enjoyed the back story for El and thought it was a clever way to tie up lots of ends. Also wondered if they had this storyline from the start.
I am having trouble though, with how relaxed the kids are in the upside down/ monster hunting . Have they learnt nothing?! You wouldn't be wasting time waving at each other through a portal , you would be climbing over each other to get out. Also hunting a murderous monster in a
dark house with no weapons or plans?? It made it more difficult to suspend disbelief I think- they are just too calm most of the time. Same with Joyce-in the previous series you could see how emotional and scared she was. Now she manages to get through kidnap/ plane crash/ threatened with death/ no contact with kids occasionally raising an eyebrow and looking slight put out.

Wonder if they would bring 008 back. Cause although the episode seemed to be badly received the character wasn't bad! And has connection and all

I wonder where 008 was during the massacre and how she escaped it? Also loving the theory that Eddie is 010

008 escaped before the massacre. Around the time that El's mum tried to take her. It was mentioned when 001 was talking to El at the beginning of series 4.

What made it harder to watch?

My 12 year old desperate to watch but I’m still unsure!

I guess it will be the murders? This is a spoiler but as you’ve asked there is a girl murdered (and more people later) by having her jaw/bones broken pinned to the ceiling. It’s done in quite a scary way and is more creepy than the first few series, with more of a horror movie feel.

But I would say fine for a mature 12 year old if they’ve been fine with the previous ones.

I thought it was scarier than the others but tbh have started rewatching form the beginning and the others are pretty scary too. Maybe we just forgot because there's been a long break.
