But what on Earth has happened to the all-knowing, all-seeing FOX? - it has been absent these past few episodes.
It's probably got fed up with the ludicrous storylines and slunk off in disgust at all the unbelievable shenanigans 😀

Will it make a mega-symbolic surprise finale appearance or not?

The suspense is killing me.

Twospaniels · 04/05/2022 15:59

Does Rose work?

presumably not in law like the others.

Does Rose work?

presumably not in law like the others.

In the previous seasons she was a nanny (which I think Ruth looked down on a bit). This season I don't know if he has worked; I'm sure she has an exchange with the vicar when he says something like 'I don't want to take too much of your time' and she says 'What else am I doing?'

Piemam · 04/05/2022 18:37

She was a nanny had some rants to various about her life having no direction, hence Ronnie telling Ruth that Rose would find her path in her own time. She was nannying when James thr
ew in the towel as accounting was not his passion and she saw how hard it had been for him . Then she was a natural with Vicar Glen's 3 so an ad hoc situation I think, in regards to minding them. I guess officially she's between jobs.

God, I'm invested!

Piemam · 04/05/2022 18:41

I think that although people have said the storyline, outfits and work environments are unbelievable, the characters are very, deeply believable. They could be real people, they are flawed and funny and true. This is maybe why it is chiming with so many people, a lot of whom (me included) have nothing in common with any of it.

This third series has been a bit askew in terms of the writing and story arcs, but now we sit with the characters, it doesn't matter so much.

Hannah spent the night before her wedding with Christie, then found herself pregnant months into the marriage. Therefore it is possible it was Christie's or Nathan's baby, but Hannah and Nathan decided on a termination as they didn't deem themselves ready for a baby. Christie only found out in series 2 as Nina blabber once she herself realised she was pregnant. Nathan only found out that Hannah spent that night with Christie when she told him in a bid to get all secrets in the open, and he found this a massive betrayal.

Thank you for this recap. 😊I only watched the last episode of the 2nd series which was horrible enough before we have the awful tragedy of James's death in this series.

I wonder how many more series they can make as they can't prolong the Hannah/ Nathan/Christie saga any longer surely. But as Piemam says, we are all invested in the characters now even if the storylines are ridiculous! I have to just mention too, why would you just leave a huge expensive tent when it rains while you're camping..surely you would just shelter in it until it stopped?!🤔

Tomorrowtomorrowandtomorrow · 07/05/2022 12:53

@BooseysMom

I read in Radio Times and several other places that there will only be 3 seasons, and that the creator Abi Morgan had planned a 3-season arc from the start.

However, Radio Times also says this:

....Abi Morgan has revealed that she already has her sights set on a spin-off.
In an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com ahead of the season premiere, Morgan said she was still hoping to work with the cast again in the future, claiming there were "more stories to be told".
"Watch this space," she teased. "I'm sure there'll be news about that very soon. But I really love those actors. I'm definitely hoping I get to work with them again.

woodhill · 07/05/2022 13:20

Es the tent thing was stupid. Hopefully someone went back to collect it

Also why couldn't Hannah get into her house?

Piemam · 07/05/2022 13:28

Ah, @FawnDrench ,the Fox of Suspense must surely reveal itself in the finale! I am as eager to see this as the actual resolve! 😁

Piemam · 07/05/2022 13:31

@woodhill , I gather that the others all went in the camper (except Nina, Rose and presumably Ronnie as driver) and then went into the house. Nathan and Hannah then proceeded to unload the camper when home but Nathan shut the front door whilst doing so, thus locking them out. Hannah chose to not knock and wake sleeping kids inside. Bit of a narrative to pique Kate's suspicions though I think!

woodhill · 07/05/2022 13:40

Thanks

Does Ruth live in another house nearby

Also the way the other driver drove Hannah's car without worrying about insurance etc and vice versa with camper van

Piemam · 07/05/2022 20:07

@woodhill , The series 2 ender showed Ruth spending the night with Ronnie and subsequently telling him that she'd rented her house over the Summer to an American couple (I think), obsessed with Wimbledon for lots of cash. So she was temporarily rootless. I think therefore she was staying with Hannah and the kids, as she was there the morning Liv returned with Gael, that was a surprise. She must be splitting time between Ronnie and Hannah for now.

BooseysMom · 08/05/2022 15:29

Tomorrowtomorrowandtomorrow

Thanks for the info. There seems alot to get straight and settled before the whole thing ends forever. There are surely more storylines to follow like Rose's journey for instance. So yes it will be good if there's a spin-off

Piemam · 08/05/2022 18:29

I thought that too, like surely it can't be the last one? All the sisters' various situations, Nathan etc. But also interested to see how all is left. Not just Hannah and Nathan, but Rose and the children. Ah, I'm so invested!

A580Hojas · 08/05/2022 19:57

I think it's definitely the last one aa far as Nicola Walker is concerned. Could be a spin off I suppose. I'd like to see Nathan moving on from the divorce and treating Kate with some respect. But how would they do the jolly, crazy family all doing everything together scenes?

LadyEloise10 · 09/05/2022 09:41

Could anyone PLEASE give a quick recap of the last episode - the camper van one as I missed it and we can't get BBCPlayer in Ireland.

Piemam · 09/05/2022 11:28

@LadyEloise10 recap for you:
Everyone set off for camping, Ronnie and Ruth terse with each other, Gael not speaking really to Liv, most ignoring Nathan. Hannah and Nathan are driving the car, have to stop several times as Nathan has the runs.

Nina on her mobile all the time, trying to get connection, find out if Tyler has paid his share. At her flat, we see Tyler clean her out and go to the airport.

Rose wants everyone to appreciate the place, says James would have loved it. Hannah tells Ruth Tyler is the one Nina is so anxious to get hold of and it all comes out. Nina demands to go home, goes crazy, in denial one minute, panic the next. Gets his voicemail in the car that says he's gone. Arrives home and sees it.

It rains and everyone jumps back to pack up and go home, Hannah and Nathan in tha car, they get locked out of house but don't want to knock and wake kids, so sleep in camper. Kate comes next morning with 3 coffees, assumes they've slept together and leaves.

Ruth tells Ronnie in a grand gesture that she wants to marry him. So they are happy. Gael and Liv are better after she talked to her mum. Zander takes time off, puts Hannah in charge. Doesn't fire Nina. Christie leaves message saying he loves Hannah, think about NY.

Hannah and Nathan forgive each other. He tries to make amends with Kate but she won't accept he loves Hannah too.

Piemam · 09/05/2022 12:55

Also, Hannah persuaded Zander to let her speak to Leni for a document stating her wishes in the event she become incapacitated, and urged her to speak to husband as this marriage isn't over.

burnoutbabe · 09/05/2022 14:02

I suppose I want Hannah and Nathan to give it another go. They do seem to still love each other

Christie is yummy though. But I think her and Nathan would be the happier ending.

friendlycat · 09/05/2022 14:59

Oh no. Is it the last episode tonight?

I could happily watch a few more episodes of this wonderful tosh. Yes it’s cheesy and rather unbelievable but at the same time highly watchable and I do love the clothes and family interactions. Just find Kate irritating.

burnoutbabe · 09/05/2022 15:54

yes last one tonight., though i just thought there is NO reason i need to wait until 9pm when its on iplayer!

the issue of Kate's baby is a spanner but i also don't want them to lose the baby, so a happy co-parenting thing would be nice.

LadyEloise10 · 09/05/2022 17:24

Thank you so much @Piemam for the update synopsis.

FawnDrench · 09/05/2022 22:00

Quite satisfactory as a finale but devastated there was no fox.
Still roared my eyes out for the first 45 minutes though.

That Nicola Walker is some bloody actress though, isn't she?
Absolutely brilliant the whole way through.

Piemam · 09/05/2022 22:21

Yes! When Hannah was in her garden, I was going hello fox, come on now, and even said she should've locked eyes with the fox, given a sly wink and the fox slink off! 😆

I'm glad though that all ends weren't tied up like things look like the right direction, but we don't know Christie's ultimate choice, nor how it goes with Kate, the baby and Nathan, whether Rose gets together with Glen and so on. Suddenly Liv gained maturity! What is that? But fine nevertheless. A fitting finale.

Clawdy · 09/05/2022 22:46

I was sad Hannah and Nathan didn't stay together, but it was probably inevitable. Not sure about Rose's ending, wish she'd met someone on their own with a baby! Sad it's all over.
