Yes. Totally! The scene of them at the jumble sale was particularly hilarious. Also impressed at how the night before Hannah goes from a client dinner, to a club to get Liv, back home to sort her out, off to Christie’s hotel. Then I’m a new flawless outfit, down to church, and then back in the office by 930.

Twospaniels · 19/04/2022 11:45

Kate should have called a cab and gone to her own home for the night, not stayed in Hannah n Nathan’s bed.

I think the podcast was a way of getting evidence. It’s now on record, spoken by Tyler, that although there was no prenup, they agreed that if the marriage breaks up they each leave with only their own things and finances. Good move Ruth.

FawnDrench · 19/04/2022 12:25

That Tyler is a slimy weasel.
Nina has lost her mojo and all her pizazz this series and has become a simpering, wilting, fawning wallflower waiting in the wings - totally out of character to how she was portrayed in the first 2 series.
Yes I know she's no longer drinking but being teetotal doesn't change your whole personality.

BruceAndNosh · 19/04/2022 12:43

And Ruth has gone all twinkly and flirty, strangely with others more than Prof Ronnie. She was simpering at Christie.

I'm pretty sure Rose didn't need the female Peaky Blinders to get James's shirts back. You burst into tears and you'll be out the door of the church hall clutching a bin bag of stuff before you can say Knife

They were deliberately playing up the 'intimidating lawyers' bit at the jumble sale, I think. Small point, but it was a gig, not a club, so not that late, probably (and she went straight after a family dinner, so 8pm/9pm or so? not REALLY late). I was amazed by Hannah mopping vomit, holding back hair and venting at Kate and Nathan all at the same time while wearing those heels, though Grin

On Tyler, was it financial shenanigans last series? Or was it practising as an unlicensed lawyer? I don't remember but am sure there was something found out about him last time. No one else in my household remembers or thinks that was the case, and it's driving me mad!

AnImaginaryCat · 19/04/2022 13:12

@sadlyunminted

One missed thing from Pieman's fabulous summary.

They were all at a client meal (in an exclusive Italian restaurant- Hannah and Nathan had a case where the restauranter was divorcing his wife - hooked up with a much younger model - and the wife was opening a restaurant next door as she was also an excellent restauranter but he'd taken the limelight - he had the case to prevent her using "his" surname (must note here that she hadn't wanted to take his name on marriage but he'd pushed her too) the name was Italian for "Justice" and he didn't want her restaurant to have anything association with the name (despite her building the brand with him). Nathan and Hannah won the case. Hannah felt bad for the woman so not happy about win.)

Anyway, the victorious husband invited them (Zander and co) for a meal at the difficult to get a table restaurant. During the meal, Ruth gets whats-his-chops (her boyfriend) to take a photo of the group and comments that Tyler needs to be in the photo more. Xander then says he (Tyler) is usually out of frame. Ruth looks suspiciously at Tyler - possibly the way he and Nina and close or possibly just at Tyler. Also whats-his-chops proposes to Ruth. She accepts.

Also, worth noting after the meal Hannah goes and talks to the wife who lost the case. She apologises and talks about divorce and names, and says something like "... there's little justice. That would be a good name for a restaurant wouldn't it." Later we see the wife has named her restaurant "Little Justice". We also find out Hannah is no longer using Stern.

Oh also, I'm very sad no one has replied to my very very important comment about the ice cream Kate tried to serve.

@RichardsGear

I've watched the whole series so will keep my trap shut, but I absolutely have to defend Christie - the man is as fit as fuck, not creepy in the slightest and is infinitely more desirable than that giant drip Nathan.
I am 100% with you on this. I really cannot understand the love for Nathan on this site. Since series 1, episode 1, I’ve thought that he is a self righteous prig and a bore. Why Hannah ever married him is a mystery to me - perhaps he seemed more reliable than her dad, but surely that was a low bar to set. And I cannot fathom why she stayed with him after the cheating incident. And then she begged him to stay😮 why?

She seems so strong at work, why can’t any show portray women who are strong in all aspects of their lives? Are we only allowed to succeed in 1 area?

100 times yes. What a loser Nathan is. Christie is infinitely more desirable indeed.

The best vegan vanilla ice cream is Swedish Glacé which comes in a turquoise tub so it wasn't that!
HalleLouja · 19/04/2022 20:54

Maybe Kate served the kids non-plant based Ice Cream….

I quite liked the Jumble Sale mafia, made me giggle.

Also, I bet Nathan wished he used some protection in hindsight. Kate is intolerable. Why was she going through Xander’s sister’s drawers? Didn’t seem truly professional to me.

Maybe everyone else is like me and just finds it hard to dislike the lovely Stephen Mangan? 😆

Piemam · 19/04/2022 20:58

@sadlyunminted and @AnImaginaryCat,
I also missed out the whole Leni saga! Leni the surgeon had a visit from Kate in her professional capacity (despite her being a children's one) and was rattled by it. Kate snooped and found strong medication, Hannah arrived (called by Leni) and saw her out, was steely. Later, Leni was confronted by Felix who is convinced of an affair after finding transactions in Switzerland. Leni reiterates there is no one else and sends him home.

Whitney168 · 19/04/2022 21:00

(Gah, I nearly always remember to preview posts, and the times I forget always seem to be when I’ve buggered up bolding.)

Piemam · 19/04/2022 21:00

I also think regular ice cream, in a bid to win kids' affections, @HalleLouja!

Then she told them they were with Child. We are pregnant.

Kate is annoying and unlikeable and I can’t believe Nathan would be with her.

It’s all so fabulous and I’m loving it.

Tyler has baggage and isn’t trustworthy but he’s going to come unstuck. Not really believable that Zander would have married him in the first place without a prenup but we knew about that.

Don’t get the dislike for Christie at all.

It’s amazing how Hannah has late nights, even spends the night at Christie’s hotel after a busy evening and still is as fresh as a daisy next morning in another rather natty power work outfit. How on earth she does all the walking she does in those heels 👠 is quite admirable.

Ruth is definitely onto something with Tyler.

Rose could be ideal for the Vicar, given time.
Nina is playing with fire.
Nathan needs to ditch the plant food loving, annoying Kate.

Oooh bring on the next episode.

AnImaginaryCat · 20/04/2022 07:00

Does the Vicar have a wife? There's three children so must have been one once if not. (It's very possible I missed thus information if it was part of a scene. Probably because I was concentrating on something less important, such as if it was dairy ice cream or not.)

It did look like dairy ice cream. Which is odd. Because you would have thought that if someone don't like a person, like the three Stern kids dont like Kate, and that person creates a "plant-based" dinner and then serves dairy after they would say something. Not that dessert got much of a look in.

TBF she was looking for a hand towel. But she shouldn't have picked up the meds, let alone read the label.

He's a widower; he talked to Rose about it in this episode.

FawnDrench · 20/04/2022 09:57

I just find the vicar character a bit wet and lacking in substance, as if he needs to be reanimated or something- he's just nondescript and a bit boring.

Perhaps Rose will end up kissing him this series, and more, as she so nearly did in series one when they got a bit over-friendly before the wedding.
But I also thought that storyline was not at all credible.

Oddly, he reminds me of James, who I think was also meant to be a nice guy but came across (to me anyway) as a bit of a drip.
Maybe she's just not that interested in writing 'nice guy' characters 😀

I can't understand the love for Hannah! She's furious with Nathan for moving on and yet can forget all about that within five minutes of Christy arriving, and shags him that night.

I also raised my eyebrow at her amazing busy evening/following morning - she's got to wake up, get from a hotel in the West End back to wherever she's staying, shower, make-up, ring round her Mum and her other sister, arrive at the church jumble sale (on a weekday ummhmm) rescue James's clothes and get to the office, all before 9/9.30. What a load of old baloney.

She's living in the family home, isn't she? It's Nathan who's moved out.

A580Hojas · 21/04/2022 04:08

Yes, she's at home but she wasn't going to be staying there that night because Nathan and Kate were there for his nesting night. So she must have arranged to stay somewhere else (even though she ended up with Christie). I wonder where she picked up her clean clothes from? Plot holes like this just irk me!
