Just caught up with the first two episodes. I do love this series despite how preposterous some of it is.

They could have started the show with a “James will die on bike” sign. So obvious. The whole lack of contraception/discussion of it does not reflect well on either Nathan or Kate.

Hannah is not a particularly likeable character but I’d like anyone played by Nicola Walker.

Piemam · 18/04/2022 22:25

Wow how obvious were Tyler and Nina?! So it is love of a sort, changes things somewhat. And what will Zander decide? I felt that him agreeing to Ruth's podcast was out of character, also odd that Prof Ronnie decided that was the best time to pop the question (a company dinner).

Piemam · 18/04/2022 22:31

Nice though that Hannah got her leg over with Christie, felt that she deserved a smile on her face after events of late. Feels like her mum is signposting her towards him, which is odd, given she declared Nathan her beloved son in law.

Anyone else think Rose and Glen the vicar might get closer and she take on all those kids?

Clawdy · 18/04/2022 22:35

Bit unlikely that Nathan would bring along the new girlfriend on his night with the kids. Loved their reaction, though!

Pl242 · 18/04/2022 22:40

Kate looks like a grown up Effy from Skins.

Piemam · 18/04/2022 22:43

Felt sorry for for poor Tilly; can't help but feel she is getting forgotten about as she isn't making a fuss like siblings.

romatheroamer · 18/04/2022 22:45

Love Hannah. Can't stand Ruth and Xander.

Ilady · 18/04/2022 23:00

I agree with the above re the lack of care re getting pregnant does not reflect well on either Nathan or Kate. Nathan is now stuck re this pregnancy and never considered the fall out it would bring into his life, Hannah life and the kids he already has. He has handled this so bad and the fall out will continue.

Nicola Walker just plays Hannah so well. I just thought what she said when Nathan asked her are you meeting Christe tonight - you have your pregnant girlfriend in my bed I don't think your in a position to ask me this - was just so good.
Tyler and Nina have become more obvious. It appears that Zander has been aware that something is going on and now knows the truth. I wonder did he agree to the pod cast to see how Tyler would react and it was said they had no prenup.

RAOK · 18/04/2022 23:45

Do we know she’s definitely pregnant? I guess she insisted on coming with Nathan to the house to meet the children and he just goes along with what she wants because that’s his life now.

AnImaginaryCat · 19/04/2022 06:26

Not to focus on an unimportant thing

BooseysMom · 19/04/2022 06:29

And just a little thing, but how come Rose could ride James’s bike? Surely it would have been pretty mangled in the crash that killed him?

Absolutely this!

BooseysMom · 19/04/2022 06:31

Will we get to know what Tyler is really like this time?
They uncovered some vague but unsubstantiated financial shenanigans involving him last series didn't they and now he has a "friend in real estate" to advise Nina about property - is he taking Nina for a great big old ride in more ways than one?
I really don't think he's all that he seems

Agree with this. He's a right little tart I think and I feel sorry for poor Zander.

AnImaginaryCat · 19/04/2022 06:37

Oops didn't mean to post just then!!

Anyway, as I was trying to write:

Not to focus on an unimportant thing did a few characters mention Kate was cooking "plant based"? There was definitely mention of oat milk in the delivery anyway. But she was the giving everyone ice cream for dessert - I tried to check if it was vegan ice cream but couldn't tell. Does anyone know?

Okay, do I am focusing (well obsessing) on a minor thing! But annoying inconsistenty in props/writing if so. Or if it was deliberate, then wouldnt one of the three children have mentioned Kate was being inconsistent just as a way to gey at her.

sadlyunminted · 19/04/2022 09:04

I forgot to record this 🙄and so missed last night's episode.
I don't live in the UK and cannot get the BBC Player.
Could someone do a quick recap please.

dannydyerismydad · 19/04/2022 09:29

I'm fascinated by the entire extended family going everywhere together, sailing down the pavement in an armada of billowing tailored jackets and coats.

Are they really the amazing legal brains they claim to be? Because they seem to rarely operate as individuals.

Piemam · 19/04/2022 09:33

@sadlyunminted here we go:

Ruth told Christie "it's time" and he duly appears in London. They meet to discuss their secret case, which is sounding exceedingly like a deep dive into Tyler and his financial mess. This is later compounded by Ruth capturing him on camera so she can attach a pic to their findings. Tyler appears shifty as hell so it is clear he is hiding from something.

sadlyunminted · 19/04/2022 09:36

Thank you @Piemam

Piemam · 19/04/2022 09:39

@sadlyunminted Kate orders a food shop to Hannah's House for her evening there, riling Hannah with the nerve! All the kids are reluctant and generally let it show. Liv susses the non-drinking and asks her if she's pregnant. Kate says yes, which goes against the adults' wishes to keep secret a little longer.

Tyler and Nina buy a property! Which is crazy. Zander sees them kiss, he seems to have suspicion but we are yet to see his actions. Poor bloke.

Rose is in a bad place, finds bits of solace when at the church. Glen is sweet here.

Prof Ronnie proposes to Ruth, she seems shocked but says yes.

Piemam · 19/04/2022 09:42

@sadlyunminted
Liv storms out to a gig (her ex) with Gael in tow. She gets hammered and kisses ex,Gael sees but takes care of her, Hannah puts her to bed before going to see Christie and spending the night with him.

Nathan is cross Kate has blabbed.
I think that's most of it. Ask away if I missed anything!

Piemam · 19/04/2022 09:47

Oh, and Hannah sees touches between Tyler and Nina and warns him off her. Tells Nina "be careful" and shushes her when Nina feigns innocence.

RichardsGear · 19/04/2022 09:49

I've watched the whole series so will keep my trap shut, but I absolutely have to defend Christie - the man is as fit as fuck, not creepy in the slightest and is infinitely more desirable than that giant drip Nathan.

sadlyunminted · 19/04/2022 09:52

You are very kind @Piemam
My tv recording device is supposed to be able to record a series. But it doesn't sometimes even though I've pressed the button.Hmm

Clymene · 19/04/2022 09:55

Ooh also the food shop is addressed to Mrs Kate Stern

sadlyunminted · 19/04/2022 10:48

@RichardsGear
I'm with you re Christie 👍
