If anyone needs another reason to avoid online dating, this takes it to another level! It's hard to believe this guy got away with it for so long.

Did anyone else notice he appeared to have a blue tick on his instagram?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/02/2022 08:31

We watched it last night.

He wasn't made to pay back the money as they willingly took out the loans in their own names.

RightOnTheEdge · 04/02/2022 08:53

He must have been a really good actor in real life. He sounded awful on the voice messages he sent. He was saying I love you and things but he sounded robotic, there was no emotion there and he had dead eyes in the photographs.
The only time he sounded real was when he started losing them and he was sending those abusive, threatening messages.

It wasn't even an original scam!
I would have thought most women by now would have read the stories about men like this and spotted the signs.
I guess the video in the ambulance was pretty persuasive though.

mirabellemadrigal · 04/02/2022 12:59

When did all this happen because he has announced insta page with recent photos

mirabellemadrigal · 04/02/2022 13:00

He has an insta page 🙄

mirabellemadrigal · 04/02/2022 13:02

Didn't any of his girlfriends ever wonder why they didn't feature on his insta photos?

So many questions

Coffeeholix · 04/02/2022 13:18

Millionaires have their own exclusive dating sites don’t they? And if you’ve genuinely worked hard for your money you’re not going to be throwing it about like that. You’re going to invest and be a bit measured in your lifestyle. Red flag straight away. The rich people I know are all very modest and careful both with their money.

That said, well done to the victims for speaking out. I think it was very brave of them to go public.

Will definitely be making my daughters watch this.

Crikeyalmighty · 04/02/2022 23:10

Moral of the tale is if something looks too good to be true— then it probably is— he essentially was running a giant ponzi scheme to have a flash life. I felt very sorry for the ladies but come on there were red flags a go go from the beginning. The Dutch lady— hats off to her!!!

Amrapaali · 04/02/2022 23:36

Did either of the women ask about his family? I kept hoping one of them would say "sorry I can't arrange the money. Why don't you call your Dad?"

IcedPurple · 05/02/2022 08:02

Yes, didn't they think it odd that this son of a billionaire had nobody to turn to in his hour of need, other than women he had only known for a few months? The Swedish lady wasn't even his girlfriend!
Iamnotamermaid · 05/02/2022 09:13

Impressed with the third woman (brunette) who sold his designer clothes and got him caught. I could sense her genuine glee at watching him suffer a bit.

sashagabadon · 05/02/2022 09:16

It was an extraordinary tale! Such high spending though more than the women could have given him. Surely just hiring one private jet is 50k or more? And he did it constantly. So he’d constantly be running out of money unless he also had unpaid hotel bills/ private jet tabs unpaid too.
What a life! Sounds ridiculously stressful keeping up with all the women and not really slipping up ie. Sending wrong message to wrong woman that made them Confused
And back doing it again so soon too.
I also watched Puppet Master, similarish in a man keeping up a completely fictional tale being MI6 and stringing along women for years although he treated them much much worse and is still on the run with one at the moment. Such an odd way to live your life

IcyWinterWonderland · 05/02/2022 10:48

His instagram page is no longer available

IcedPurple · 05/02/2022 11:55

Another thing: the women both googled him after their first 'date'. Both the Swedish and the Norwegian women found that he was supposedly a part of the extremely rich Israeli diamond trading family. How is it that the family didn't find out that this chancer was openly claiming to be their relative, and insist that he remove the claim from his social media?

userxx · 05/02/2022 12:18

Wow! Just finished watching and can't believe the chancer ended up back in the life of luxury. How disappointing. Those women will be paying off the debts for a long time to come.

icelollycraving · 05/02/2022 12:20

Her glee at selling all the clothes did make me smile. I hope no harm comes to the women in this documentary from exposing him.
The one who was his friend was the one I did feel particularly sorry for, she had a friendship of what she thought was more equal terms. The one 250k down within a month or whatever was literally chasing the Disney dream.

To me, the 'friend' was an even stranger scenario.

How many men form close platonic friendships with women they've only met a few times? She didn't think it odd that she was in Mykonos tagging along with him and his hot young Russian model girlfriend? And then, when he had his 'emergency' she thought it reasonable that she should be the one to come to his rescue, despite not being family, or even his partner, but just a 'friend'? To me that was even more bizarre than the woman who thought she was his girlfriend.

PurpleThursdays · 05/02/2022 16:35

Just watched this. There is nothing attractive about this twat whatsoever. So many red flags. Can't believe how many women would fall for an average bloke just cos he is rich. Bleurghhhhh

GhostOrchid · 05/02/2022 17:42

Yes, the older Swedish woman was a bit odd. I got the sense she hovered around on the margins of that world before her run in with Simon (didn’t she mention dating another diamond guy?) and just enjoyed the lifestyle.

It was entertaining and slickly put together but so many WTFs. Why would you fly off to a foreign city with a guy you’ve spent one hour with? Billionaires don’t use Tinder. Billionaires have armies of bankers and lawyers and don’t need their girlfriends to get credit limit extensions. Why didn’t the real family issue him with an injunction?

I liked the insight into the psychology of it all from the woman journalist and it would have been good to hear more about that, and there’s something about airless relationships conducted entirely on Instagram and WhatsApp that leave a lot of space for fiction and fantasy. Many years ago I fell hopelessly in love with a guy I met briefly who lived in a foreign city. We kept in touch by email messaging pretty much every day. Very easy to build someone up in your head. I wasn’t scammed or anything but he was unavailable and it was all a colossal waste of time.

MrsDThomas · 05/02/2022 19:01

I watched this earlier. These girls are absolutely stupid. Totally. Think they’re on to a good thing.

Its that old cliché isnt it? If it sounds too good to be true……

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 05/02/2022 19:13

Just watched it and quite frankly i cant believe people are so stupid. Surely when he started asking for loans etc alarm bells should be ringing. I just think they thought they were going to live the high life and were blinded by the ££££’s. Did like the girl who sold his clothes though!

PurpleThursdays · 05/02/2022 19:19

His watch was a fake when woman #2 tried to pawn it. Wouldnt surprise me if his designer clothes were too.

IcedPurple · 05/02/2022 19:21

I think the Dutch woman who sold his designer threads worked in high end fashion herself, so she'd likely have had a good idea if they were authentic.
LittleSnakes · 05/02/2022 19:26

I’m most curious about the woman with the kid. What was going on with her.

isthismylifenow · 05/02/2022 19:31

I watched it yesterday. He really got in there quick and fast with the love bombing. And I think that he looked for a certain type of personality as he was just a downright bully when he demanded the money. None of them seemed to stand up to him. I did love that Ayleen sold his clothes though.

The scariest part for me is that this was from 2018, yet he was still on Tinder and his insta page was active. He only took it down a few days ago once the heat was on due to the Netflix release. How many more women did he swindle since then.?
