If anyone needs another reason to avoid online dating, this takes it to another level! It's hard to believe this guy got away with it for so long.

@Iamthewombat

Ayleen is a baller! No whining and self pity for her. Cecilie and Pernilla still can’t see that they contributed to their own problems, can they?

As for the Gofundme thing: they all should be embarrassed.

I agree. I don't know what jobs they do or what their background is, but I doubt they're homeless or wondering where the next meal is coming from.

So they got swindled? That's awful for them, but people get ripped off, in ways big and small, every single day. Also, how do we know exactly how much money they lost? Of all the worthy causes in the world, why should anyone give a penny to two women whose greed for splashy material wealth made them easy prey for a con artist?

MermaidEyes · 11/02/2022 16:32

They're probably hoping some rich man will feel sorry for them and contribute to the GoFundMe then ask them out on a date

nottoday3000 · 11/02/2022 17:03

And now watch the puppet master on Netflix a whole level of crazy even worse

Inventing Anna is on my list for the weekend!

shaneTwane · 11/02/2022 23:07

I've started watching inventing anna

Karenina40 · 11/02/2022 23:59

@shaneTwane and @MermaidEyes o ok, I say no more as I don't want to spoil it Smile
..oh, BTW it's not a documentary but it's based on true story.

Player20868 · 12/02/2022 02:03

@BaileysBaileys I think you might be on to something there, especially with that GoFundMe page...the whole thing just feels really odd and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't entirely convinced by some of the performances (not just his)...

longwayoff · 12/02/2022 23:21

I've tried to struggle through Ep 1 but the dippy woman in search of a Prince is too annoying to put up with for long. Does it get more interesting? I don't think I've got the patience for it.

tokyo1 · 12/02/2022 23:26

I just watched this and whaaaaat on earth lol. I literally laughed out loud when he sent the '1 star hostel' message Grin

tokyo1 · 12/02/2022 23:28

It isn't a series. I'd give up on it if you can get past the first 10 minutes.

longwayoff · 13/02/2022 08:42

Thanks userxx, it's now off my list. Too exasperating.

That's next for me! I've watched bits and pieces about her on youtube so I feel I know this story well already. Hope the netflix version does the sstory justice.
JunoLunar · 13/02/2022 09:09

For anyone else interested in similar stories I highly recommend the scam goddess podcast. Oh and the bling ring film!

Peachtoiletpaper · 13/02/2022 11:10

Really interesting watch and yes, I found myself asking questions about how accountable the women were however bad I feel for them, and I do.

One thing that I also wondered was whether he ever tries to scam the drop-dead model 'girlfriends' or whether he sees them as part of the trappings of wealth, and sees the attractive but not model-glam women as a source of income as they would be less expecting of the attention?

Just interesting as to how he objectifies and categorises women as either prey or trophies (unless he does have a go at scamming the models, or maybe they provide other goods such as access to exclusive parties).

mUserBot9to5 · 13/02/2022 11:16

Yes, he had a category for them. Ayleen (who seems to have come from wealth, genuinely, unlike him) was LONG CON.

Then there was short con, and trophies/trappings.

Peachtoiletpaper · 13/02/2022 11:21

Yes! And Pernille was a long con too, certainly compared to Cecilie. She must have mentioned that she had substantial savings despite not being romantically susceptible

JunoLunar · 13/02/2022 11:28

@Peachtoiletpaper I thought that! Was 'Polina' being conned or was she a genuine love interest.
What did he get out of the relationships with the women apart from money?
I think I could live with losing the money but would cringe thinking about sleeping with him.

Summersdreaming · 13/02/2022 12:08

I wonder why there was no comeback from the real LDD diamond family? And the documentary showed articles about the 'billionaires son' were they fake?

Also intrigued by the mother of his child, I wanted to hear more about that.

Piglet89 · 13/02/2022 12:57

See, this fucker conned Finnish women a while back, served jail time, released, right back at it.

Served 5 months of a pathetic 15 month sentence, after Interpol eventually caught him for conning the Norwegian, Dutch and Swedish women who were the focus of the doc, now released and apparently back living the life of luxury again as other have said.

He is the classic recidivist offender and this is actually a really poor reflection of Co operation between various domestic criminal law systems in Europe.

He just needs to be banged up for a long, long time because he is a properly dishonest, cheating fuck.

As for the mother (and the father, wherever the hell he is): guys - this is what failing to impart any values to your kid looks like.

feellikeanalien · 13/02/2022 16:18

I would have liked to have known more about the mother of his child. Was the child really his? Did he ever see her? If she was one of the Finnish women he scammed how on earth did she end up having his child and being involved in scamming other women?

Also the fact that he now seems to be living the same kind of lifestyle but has had his face plastered all over the media and now a documentary and has been in prison. He still seems to attract glamorous women. If you knew what he was like why would you still get involved?

I also agree with other pps. Why didn't the diamond family do anything? Obviously there would be no point in suing him but surely he must have committed some kind of offence by doctoring photos and would he not also be bringing their business into disrepute.

I'm not convinced we know the half of it. If he was penniless and living in a hostel when he was arrested how come he is now back living the high life? There's definitely more to the story than meets the eye and I would love to see a documentary investigating him. I wonder why this hasn't happened.

Iamthewombat · 13/02/2022 16:35

If I were the real diamond dealing Leviev family, I’d be ignoring this too. To acknowledge this man’s behaviour is to give it, and him, some credibility and I expect that there would be a degree of pressure for the Levievs to at least support the questionable revenge crusade launched by the women who were scammed, or to donate to the ludicrous Gofundme appeal.

And, worse, have their photos taken with attention-seeking Pernilla and Cecilie for their ‘poor me’ but look at us doing girl power’ social media posts. I’m not rich or posh but even I would consider that beneath me. I expect that the Levievs, if they are indeed super rich, would want to minimise publicity since they might have a few skeletons in their own closets.

Besides, why would the Levievs care? Very few people reading the VG article or watching the Netflix doc would think, “now those Levievs really should do something to stop their business being brought into disrepute”. That’s not the story. The story is, relatively sane-seeming women fell for this nonsense because they were dazzled by the swindler’s fake wealth.

“Hmmm should I really get on a private jet with a man I don’t know? Probably not but DIAMONDS CASH, well maybe I can pretend I feel a special connection DIAMONDS FAIRYTALE WEDDING THAT WILL SHOW THE HATERZ AT SCHOOL THAT I AM SPECIAL, EH?”

“Is it normal for me to be touring Europe with a man I have met only once before on an unsuccessful Tinder date and have little in common with, and his much younger than me Russian girlfriend, ditto? Well, maybe not but DIAMONDS CASH I MIGHT MEET A BILLIONAIRE OF MY OWN IF I TAG ALONG”
