I keep hearing rumours but can't see anything set in stone. Does anyone know when the new series of PB starts?

OP posts:

Sorry yes, John’s wife - Esme.

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 28/02/2022 21:52

Loved John's wife Esme!

Haggisfish3 · 28/02/2022 22:37

Interesting show about the music www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0bpwtzm

BaconAndAvocado · 01/03/2022 08:49

Watched the first episode of new series last night.
It's still got it. Fabulous!!!
Tommy, so gorgeous!
Music, costumes, direction, production values......all amazing 🤩

XelaM · 01/03/2022 10:08

I know Tommy is objectively good-looking, but his face doesn't move. It looks like either a lot of plastic surgery or Botox. I found Mosley so much more handsome Blush

XelaM · 01/03/2022 10:08

The soundtrack is amazing though!

Binglebong · 01/03/2022 12:58

They did spend a ridiculous length of time showing Gina's feet while she went to visit Michael in prison. Multiple shots - definitely style first.

I also think they chickened out a bit as they didn't really show what happened with Michael's attempted take over. Or did that get wrapped up at the end of last season and i forgot?

TottersBlankly · 02/03/2022 08:11

Amazing first episode.

The tribute to Polly / HM was just breathtaking - as it should be.

And I’m suddenly interested in the holiday possibilities of Miquelon …

The enmity between Tommy and Michael should be exciting, going forward, but - lovely as she is to look at - I’d be sorry if they’ve tweaked the story to incorporate more Gina, just because ATJ is a huge star now. She’s no Brummie.

Captain Swing and the IRA connection are gobsmackingly terrifying - really well conceived and executed.

All this beauty and Stephen Graham + Tom Hardy still to come? Heavenly.

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 02/03/2022 08:22

I'm curious to see who Stephen Graham's character is, I wonder if he is Uncle Jack?

MissBattleaxe · 02/03/2022 08:26

Tommy speaking French. Swoon!

TottersBlankly · 02/03/2022 08:29

He did manage to sound simultaneously clunky and threatening in French!

BOOTS52 · 02/03/2022 08:50

I loved the first episode of the new season. Lovely tribute to Polly and felt very sad as must have also been so hard for the cast. Tommy off the booze very impressive so his head is clear for now. Cannot wait for next weeks episode. Arthur back on the drugs heavy and Michael has a moustache that is questionable. Loved the Joy Division music. Really good opening episode and glad the storyline has moved on and should be a good season. Love when Tom Hardy is in it and my son can imitate his voice soo good, gives me a good giggle.

LizBennet · 02/03/2022 08:53

I love Tom Hardy's character.
Really nice tribute to Polly ❤️

MissBattleaxe · 02/03/2022 10:12

@TottersBlankly yes an Irish actor speaking French with a gruff Brummie accent. Huge talent.

LadyTwinkle · 02/03/2022 11:44

When he said 'je m'appelle Tommy Shelby' in a Birmingham accent, like he was sat in a Y7 French lesson. That was brilliant and so well done.

Yea that made me giggle!

his face doesn't move

It's a character thing - he's non-reactive, that's how he coped in the war by keep everything inside and staying calm on the surface. It's also how he keeps his power (and charisma) after the war. I've watched a lot of youtube videos analysing him (can you tell haha).

XelaM · 02/03/2022 21:18

@xfgdhfgnhkk007 So it's not just Botox? Grin

And Tom Hardy's character is my favourite! Absolutely love Alfie! He's hilarious 😂

Motnight · 02/03/2022 23:16

I thought it was fantastic. An amazing tribute to Polly.

Tommy was as fabulously bonkers as ever. I hope that Arthur isn't just going to be the family clown.

grannyjacob · 03/03/2022 18:21

I only got into PB during the first lockdown, I’d never watched any of it before, totally due to Cillian Murphy always giving me the heebie-jeebies. But now, I’m a convert, he’s so good in it.
I really enjoyed this first episode of the new season. The “new” Tommy is even scarier than before. His parting words to Michael in the prison were perfect. The tribute to Helen McCrory was wonderful. Poor Arthur. Good to see Ada coming more into her own in the family. Great music. Really looking forward to the rest of the season.

I agree, Tommy was horribly damaged by the war as was Arthur but in a different way

Agree regards Ginas character ... I think there is potential there but I've read she is being considered as the new powerful female lead to replace Pol. Which honestly no one could do. Biiiiig shoes to fill (actually, that's quite funny when you remember the shoe shots as a pp pointed out Grin). If there had been no Pol maybe .... in fact (granted I have a wee girl crush on her) I think' Lizzie could have been a much stronger character, it's a shame more wasn't made of her.

Agree the IRA storyline comes I'd be excellent. I'm excited to see what comes next and just have to roll my eyes at the many slow-mo swagger shots and Ghost Graces F'ing heavy breathing on occasion.

Ooooh that could be good.

I love Steven Graham (he lives in a town near me, apparently a lovely man and family) and thought he was excellent in Boardwalk Empire.

God yes, that was hot.
TottersBlankly · 04/03/2022 09:34

I think I read something Stephen Graham said about the accent he’d be using - but it might be viewed as a spoiler. (And of course it might not have been true!)
